OK, so call me anal, I don't care. Actually thought it was my typo at first, then realized it was in the quote, hence the color change. As for the banquet room, totally understandable!! Could be worth "shopping" around a bit before the next shin-dig or if all like it at the Gold, well, we'll all have to chip in our fare share!! Keep it simple.

Definately GOOD times last night!! Was well worth the drive out. Got to see many of the usual suspects and met quite a few new ones! Always cool to put faces with the names. GREAT to finally meet you (and da Capt) last night! Really looking forward to meetin' up with you guys out at the dunes! No doubt it will be good times!! Yup, goes kinda like this: "Hi, I'm Kelly.... () ....dinicolady, and you are??" "Ooohhhh, I'm _________" Me, "screename??....Ohhhhhh! Glad to finally meetcha!" Just a few observations to add: Mary is fascinated by Tina's boobs. Mary does not remember meeting me at Dumont. Oh well, next time! Anywhere DDR goes, a GOOD time follows! For such a big city, it sure is a small world! 9 nut (the other Craig) loves his redheads slutty! Jackie (Dunesmurf) is alive and still kickin'! (Great to see you and Dave at yet another great party! Next weekend ) to the next get together!

We want to get down there too, but with Davey's stepdad here, we're not certain. Don't want him thinkin' we're sticking him with the kiddos. Oh hell, he's Grandpa and it's his duty to hang with the kids, right?!?
-
Yep, what he said^^^^^^ Been lurking over Davey's shoulder and I do peak in occasionally to check on things. Read a topic and want to reply, don't have time, gotta cook dinner, yadda yadda yadda and the next day the thread is old already!! Can't keep up with y'all! I never even posted a Thanksgiving trip report!! I think I suffer from post-duning depression. It's either that or I'm so damn it takes me 3 days to recover and you're planning the next trip already! Honestly tho, been REALLY REALLY busy with the holidays and all. December flew by and here we are, practically the 2nd week of 2008 already!! We wanted to get to Dumont for New Year's, had a BLAST last year (our very first New Year's trip to the dunes, BTW) but something much more important came up. My younger sister flew another sister to Vegas, whom we haven't seen since Christmas 2005, as her gift to us!! She arrived Friday the 28th and all 6 of us spent nearly every waking moment, and some sleeping, together until we had to send her back home Monday morning. We had SOOOO much fun but it sure hurts to let her go. So here we are, a few days later and my father-in-law is here in town until Tuesday, staying with us nonetheless!! It's cool and all, but having company for 6 days kinda cramps your style. Sure wish mom-in-law would have come along, she's the only mom I have now and I enjoy her company, but she's back East with her own mom, possibly their last holiday season together. So anywaaaaaaays, I'm not THAT far away and do miss the chit chat!! Great to see Bob back in action. Nothing better to getcha out of a slump than to log in to DDR, sit and for a bit and laugh your a$$ off, I just need to do it more often!!

TOO cute!! Gotta love it!

Let's see, decided to head to work since Davey was home with the kiddos, and since I took (last) Friday off for last day of school festivities. We scored 3 free hours from the boss-man, so I was home by noon!! :xmas3: Got the kids busy with cookie cutting/decorating, etc. when they got home from Christmas shopping with Daddy.....YES, he saved it till the LAST minute! Basically spent the day baking, washing dishes, finish up wrapping, more baking, more dishes..... Had NO room in the kitchen to cook a dinner, so ordered in wings and fingers from Joey's and we had dinner in the living room next to the Christmas tree. That was SOOOO cool I think we started a new tradition!! :xmas4: After dinner, it was time to let the kids open their Christmas Eve gift, jammies of course, and sent them off to dream of sugar plums. Got the pies in the oven, wrapped up some forgotten gifts from the corner of the closet, and stuffed the stockings. Finally headed to bed about 2:30 am Today is gonna be crazy busy/ fun!! Round 1 was done by about 9:00 am. (the shred fest!) Round 2 starts when their cousins from Davey's branch of the family tree get here to exchange their gifts. Round 3 begins when Justin and Danielle get here, another shred fest and Christmas dinner. Ham, baked potatoes and all the trimmin's, then it will be off to my sister's house for round 4!! This consists of our gift exchange with the sisters, bro-in-laws, signifigant others, etc., from my branch and desserts galore!! Phewwwww, (makes me tired just reading that!) can't wait till tomorrow!! Took day off from work, plan on doing NOTHING, in my jammies, clicker in hand, and the family will be lucky if I cook them dinner!! :xmas3: Merry Christmas to all, and hoping for a safe and sound New Year!! :xmas4:

GREAT food, GREAT service=GREAT tip!! LOUSY service=LOUSY tip, no matter if the food was good or not. (The waitress didn't make it, just carried it to the table!) I must agree, I think, and maybe it's because we live in Vegas, everyone seems to have a hand out. Went to Sam's Club today to pick up youngest's birthday cake. There is a Kettle Corn booth out front with a tip jar sitting on the counter. So, I pay the guy $5 bucks for a bag of popped corn AND I should give him a tip for putting it in a bag so that I CAN pay $5 to take it home?!? I think NOT!! That's

The majority of my shift at work is spent on the road running parts, from one end of town to another. I left Kiesub (Highland Dr) in a drizzle and by the time I hit the 15, like 5 blocks away, it was a downpour!! Visibility was about 5 car lengths on the freeway, but to my amazement people were actually being careful for a change! Most were doing about 50, 55 mph instead of the usual 75-80. Took me longer to get back to the shop, but not passing (crawling by) any accidents was priceless!!

I can beat that one!! I lived in Hawaii before moving here to Vegas. It rained virtually everyday on some part of the island. In the summer, it was cool, the sun would pop out, rain (sprinkle) a bit, then stop. I always did the "WTF" when people on the BEACH would run for cover to their cars with a TOWEL over their head!! "Dude, you're AT THE BEACH, swimming in the OCEAN!!"

I have NO clue why that guy decided to take off after pausing to let some of us by!! I even gave him a little "thank you" wave (like I always do to folks yielding to my line of ducklings; I was in no way waving him thru), then all of a sudden he punched it and cut my daughter off. Thank heaven she was paying attention, or else that could have turned into an ugly scene!! I don't condone (sp??) the roosting Justin gave him, but he did need a wake up call! I understand your point Tim, but being on a 2-wheeler makes it a little difficult to haul trash bags a mile or so back to camp. Which reminds me, LOL, we were out at the S. pole Friday and an empty Coors box came tumbling our way. My youngest grabbed it, we squashed it and bungied it to my quad and took it (and some other trash) back to camp for a proper disposal.

Yeeeeeeee Haaaawwwwww!! Would've loved to witness that one!! Hopefully he'll think twice about showin' off like that in the future. Whatta butthead. Glad the dad didn't let him slide!!

I noticed that too!! We could see the face "hill" from our camp, usually busy and lit most of the night, but not this weekend. Even with the moon out, traffic was light from our point of view. Just a little bit of late night traffic out by us, slept SOOOOOO good!! I was really amazed how few riders we crossed paths with, especially on Friday. Lots-o-elbow room! Saturday the majority of our group went for a ride before the meet-n-greet, like 15 of us, so we were our own traffic jam!
-
^^^^^^^^^^YEAH, what he said!! Nick is absolutely correct!! I'm SOOOO glad I made it out to this meeting. They DO listen. Would've been great to have MORE voices there to actually listen to, oh well Having lunch with y'all just made it all the better!! The meeting was informative, conversation was awesome, and the drive home wasn't bad either. COOL way to spend a Saturday!

Sure does bring new meaning to the phrase "drive through"!! Saw the story on the news this afternoon, other McDonald's stores are going to take in the employees while their store gets a re-build. No life threatening injuries, thankfully!!
-
Sure is hard to get into the "holiday spirit" when it's still in the 80's outside!! Reminds me of living in Hawaii, LOL, Christmas lights on palm trees!! Camp fires are no fun in shorts.

Check out Sam's Club and/or Super Walmart....I've seen a package deal with a charger, controllers, and other accessories. Super has the "bras" that you can slip over the controllers (and the numbchuck) in different colors so each kid can claim their own. As per my Kelsey, any game can be played with either the controller or numbchuck, but it's more fun if you have the steering wheel to go with driving games, the Zelda and Metroid games need the numbchuck, and she says there's a 'sword' attachment you put the controller in to make those more fun. They've played with Danyell's console often.

the positive things from your Halloween trip
dinicolady replied to dunefreak's topic in 2007/2008 Season
I'll second that motion!! Ours are 2 daughters, 14 and 12½, and son almost 11. I'm very proud to say they are curtious, responsible young duners and their skills have improved 10-fold over the few short years we have been duning! Proud moment #1: 14 year old has moved up to a 350, also her first time with paddles this weekend, and watching her keep pace with dad on his Banshee, priceless!! Never missed a shift #2: When daughter #2 let her brother ride the 250 and she took over on the 90 voluntarily! (Cooked the piston on one of the 250's kick-off weekend, piston on backorder, so thankfully we still have the 90 as back-up!!) #3: When son avoided a potential roll-over on said 250!! I was ridin' caboose, as usual, we were out in the north 40 playing on the hills when he started to slide off a finger dune, about 6 to 8 ft high and fairly steep. He didn't panic, (I bit my lip) pointed the quad downhill and reclaimed his place in our little line! Amazing! And to think I was hesitant to move him up to the 250 last season  There were other proud moments, but those three stand out the most! -
Then maybe YOU should be hitching the ride with one of us!! FYI: We're in the NW area of town
-
Been there, seen it happen!! Kick-off weekend, after we rolled into a spot at Comp, witnessed a guy's quad being loaded into the back of a leo's truck while another officer was trying to get the drunkass off the ground, in handcuffs, to haul him away, his helmet was still on! Watched the driver of a truck get cuffed and hauled away by CHP just last season. I'm sure there are many, many more we haven't seen! I still believe the fines/penalties should be stiffer for speeding, littering and generally being a menace to the duning community!
-
Davey and I both want to go to this one, being a Saturday and all, but at least one of us for sure will make it!! I have my burb also, seats 8 comfortably!! Well, 6 if they're all fat.
-
Bob, I ya, but I respectfully disagree with your point on this one. My oldest, Justin, takes his truck out to the hill loaded with chairs, the youngin's, and firewood and those of us that won't fit ride the toys out. It's a 4x4 D-MAX so it has the chingaderas to make it out there without getting stuck. He also does not drink, so he is designated driver for those who are there to do that (his girlfriend for example ) Thursday night we went for a night ride because the moon was out, the night was bright and clear and we even let the kids ride out on the quads. Stayed for awhile, the action was ON the hill this night, then kept riding....hit the N. pole and then the back way to camp. BEAUTIFUL night for riding!! Friday, different story. Kids had to come out in the truck, and except for the azzhat flying up the hill and cutting off any quad in his path, the action was on the ground. Wheelies, "camp" racers, roosting, etc., it was NUTS!! Left kinda late to get back to camp because of all the traffic. Didn't even bother with the hill Saturday night, knew it was gonna be too crazy for the kids, and besides, we actually had quite a few trick-or-treaters come thru this time and that was my thrill for the night! Ohhhhh, and the rum was quite tasty too!!
-
First off, let me tell ya I love your post...lots of good points!! However, we have on occasion used "the pinnacle of ignorance....displayed" as an example of what NOT to do for our kids. One busy weekend last season we were at the hill with the kiddos (rode out in a truck, NOT on their own quads) and witnessed a CHP Officer (yes, CHP, not BLM, he was waiting behind my son's truck, no lights on YET) pull a guy over. He had just pulled out of the row in front of us, no headlights on, and BOOM, busted!! The officer had been waiting for him to make a move. DUI beats the hell outta drunk in public! He did the whole sobriety test(s) right there and the kids watched this dumbass get handcuffed and hauled away leaving his truck with family aboard sitting in the sand. To this day, we still talk about that night and other reasons why we DON'T drink and drive.
-
Personally, I like the new spot, but it still is a high-traffic area with a lot of wide open space for those folks who never seem to SLOOOOOW down!! I especially like the horseshoe (no thoroughfare!) idea because I never cared to walk the WHOLE row from one end to the other. This fat ol' lady hates walkin' in the sand as it is, so having the 2 rows across from eachother gets the BUT crossing over with the lousy visibility could become an issue. Went there Friday on the way back to camp to get lunch at the HOG, pulled up, got our food and got outta there, purdy convenient IMO, BUT looking for the Ice-man Saturday sucked 'cause the dust was so thick you could barely see headlights! Oh yeah, may wanna get those speed limit signs in a jumbo size and fluorescent if we hope for those speed-demons to take notice!
-
Aaahhhhhh, that explains the camera man I saw in a Leo's SUV!! (I actually thought it was a ranger with a camera ) My daughters and I were at vendor row looking for the ice man Saturday afternoon, and we crossed paths with the SUV. I always try to wave and send a smile their way in appreciation, but instead I came face to face with that darn camera instead! Wasn't much unlawful stuff going on at that time, so hopefully I end up on the cutting room floor. Oh Vicki, I hope your prediction does not come to fruition!!
