  1. Our particular problem evidently was solved by simply un-plugging the pressure switch on the A/C reciever near the firewall, un-screwing it 0ff the schrader valve and replacing it with a new one. They have color stripes around them designating the older bad ones compared to the newer good ones. Brown, double brown, blue ect. This I'm told by the service writer. I had read a service bulletin that my problem was caused by several factors with the reciever, evaporator, switch and a few other gizmos on the system, all causing the system to fail. They were cool, they simply changed out the switch,, they took the truck to lunch, it worked great,,, no charge. I had sued this dealership a long time ago. They "aligned" the front end of a truck I had and it ruined my tires. Expensive Michelins XH's. I learned they had no alignment equipment, they used a level and a tape measure. So it was an easy win in Small Claims court. They have made so many enemies here in Simi, they are doing little favors trying to reconcile with the locals. Ya never see a new GM car with their dealership license plate frame around it. When we were shopping new z06's, they couldn't be bothered,, so we went to Monterey Park and got a hell of a deal. $17K off MSRP, loaded. The sales staff in the showroom now is on the ball, seems like they are a big improvement. We've had worse. My son took his Toyota to the DCH Toyota dealer out here, was charged for a full brake job, they never touched the truck. It was back to small claims court, and another dealer even gave us all the proof.
  2. I had one HUGE wall of shelves in the garage full of model rail road stuff. LGB and many other big name rolling stock, transformers, endless amounts of track, gadgets like crossing gates, a station that loaded/unloaded milk bottles onto refrigerator cars, the Disneyland RR Locomotive and cars, the Knotts Berry Farm Ghost Town RR replica ,, etc etc. The kids lost interest years ago, so I told them sell it on e Bay, or I'm giving it all away. No response from them,,,, so I contacted the Simi Valley Historical and model Rail Road Society. They seem legit. They will either use the stuff, or they are hep on getting the right amount of $$ for it from the right place. They restored a classic rail road station here in Simi, and have a terrific, gigantic walk-thru model rail road lay out you can visit on weekends at the station off Kuehner Dr near Smith rd. They jumped at the chance to get the stuff and were over here in hours. They told me all the trains and track etc were worth a lot, the catalogs and boxes made it all even worth more. Evidently a hell of a lot more. We loaded it all in their mini vans. Covered with years, hell decades of dust. I kept the boxes over the decades because I remember when my sister broke the glass ball on my dads antique gum ball machine while vacuuming the den. It was an excellent, thick crystal globe with scrambled eggs kinds etchings all over it. My mom and I went to the library, and went through volumes of California Yellow Pages (no internet then) to find a place that sold glass globes for antique gumball machines. We found an old Jasper on 6th st in old Downtown Los Angeles. We called, he said bring the broken one in and he could probably match it. Amazing, the crystal globe was only $26, even cheap back then,, but the guy kept the really cool box it came in because it was worth far far more at that time. Ya ever part with something for a good cause?
  3. Thanks for the take. It landed on it's side and fantastic duners appeared from everyplace to help right it. Sandemon, and the DSD crew were with me, and they all got me running again. Amazing that the flags, the PIAA lights,, and all the Rzr jewelry survived the tumble. Not even a scratch , nothing. The air filter box filled with a pint of oil, so it ran rough until I cleaned it out, and the shifter cable suddenly was rubbing against the drive shaft, so I re-routed it and secured it better. K&N is a perfect choice for these situations when oil migrates back. An easy cleaning job compared to the paper filters. Our new Rzr S has a lot more stability. Night and day. Our friend Mark owns the Chuys restaurant chain. He rolled his Jeep at about 20 MPH according to witnesses. He's paralyzed from the waist down. He was wearing No seatbelt and was tossed under then crushed by his own rollbars. Not a scratch or any damage what so ever to the Jeep. The guy is astronomically wealthy with 41 locations, all doing good business, single biggest purchaser of Tequila West of Texas,, homes and boats in Hawaii, sponsored Trophy trucks,, on and on,,, and because he didn't take a simple precaution,, he sits in his wheelchair and crys the blues to us. I'd rather be broke-a$$ me than rich and in his position. 5 point belts are essential, and a helmet if you venture outta the camping areas.
  4. Thanks, appreciate the takes. A good compressor is essential in the dunes IMHO. We help anyone we can.
  5. Good to read it all worked out. We have the AAA premium RV/MC membership. Gives you 230 miles of towing per incident, several time a year,, X 4 if the wife in on the membership too. Worth looking into. Would AC DC be the guys to call I wonder? What a relief to see them make it to your location.
  6. Always been a football fan here. Seems like the teams are more evenly matched the past few seasons. Sure a few stinkers, but most the games are pretty good. Not a Cowboys fan, but I'd love to get a cheap flight to Dallas, get a cheap room and some tickets ( I didn't say cheap tickets cause their ain't any ) to see a game in their new stadium. Pound some beers and stadium food,, see some of the Dallas nightlife,, emerse in the energy of the crowd and game,,, I think it'd be fun. My Rzr rollover:
  7. I use Polaris Syn oil in my S You can also use Mobil one. I use both Polaris oil filters and K&N oil filters. Me rolling my Rzr:
  8. Thanks. It's a pull type trailer. Time for out with the old and in with a new.
  9. We have a really good deal lined up on a RV in LV. They send you out with out paying Nev tax or DMV if ya live in Cali. So,, when I get it home to Cali,, will I face a sh*t storm at the DMV?
  10. Whats the best sports bar in Vegas with HDTV and all the games?
  11. Several of the crew that work for Terribles and their friends that work other Trophy Truck crews say they are done with Baja, and want to Focus more on the Primm/Mint races. The rip-offs and corruption in Mexico is running off some good teams. The races have to be a hot load of $$ in the arm of the Nevada economy.
  12. The 6 pack Play cool coolers fit perfectly in the lock n go gas can holders:
  13. Nice truck. Good pix. Hope to see it in a Super Crew. We love Fords but like Vaseline Alley the trannys are an issue.
  14. At Oregons Sand Dunes a guy came up to us in the parking lot. His new F350 HD trans failed him and he asked for a tow off the sand so he can then get it tow'd to his work, a Ford Dealer. He's a Master mechanic we're told, but that's another thread. I aired down to where the tires bulged and it was a fairly simple, close-by, flat sand pull-out. How much can I really air these tires down to get the best sand results and not sweat (too much) popping the bead? When helping folks (and myself) out, I'd like the get the best advantage in the sand I can. Thanks for the takes.
  15. When I was in the Marines, they sent me to Thailand to a US Air Force cross training center to learn loading airplanes with cargo and troops. It was a temp set-up training Coast Guard, Navy AF and Marines. We'd go into town at night, and the taxicabs were the craziest in the world, bar none, and a life endangering experience. I'll get back to that. So Yesterday I drop off the 2500 HD because I can't get the A/C to act right. Their are several dozen Bulletins on it and I'm spent, so let the guys at the dealer that mess with this stuff everyday have a hand at it. The service manager put me in the Courtesy Shuttle for a ride home. A new Equinox. Fantastic vehicle the new Equinox. Streets ahead of the competition IMHO. Just an excellent, peppy, quiet, and very roomy vehicle. The kid driving it pulls outta the dealership and cuts off traffic in both directions. Everyone slamming on their brakes and swerving into the shoulder to avoid us. Then the kid hits about 70 MPH, and blows the first red light. Just a glowing Cherry red, no question we gotta stop red light. Then I mention AGAIN that was the street we needed to turn on, because he's not listening while telling me about his wife,, and he slams on the brakes and all the cars behind us almost stack up,, this while doing a 4 wheel drift,, and does a U turn in front of oncoming traffic. A guy that looks like he just took delivery on his new F250 misses us by a paint job. His eyes like Coors light beer cans popping outta his head. The kid driving me in the courtesy shuttle then does a 4 wheel drift around the corner and blasts through the first stop sign. A big, red STOP sign. I was back in Thailand in one of those crazy taxis flashed through my pea brain. Approaching my house we have a narrow street with a tight, blind curve. On top of that, my neighbor down the street is slowly backing in his WW and is mostly hanging out in the street trying to maneuver his rig backwards up the drive., and we dart around him blindly into oncoming traffic almost head-on-ing a mom in a Mini Cooper full of kids. So later,,,, the dealer calls. They found the A/C problem and fixed it free. Yep, free and asked me if I wanted them to send the shuttle over. "Nahhh" I told them,, the wifie will drive me. I made no mention of the Bancock style taxi ride and I gave both the mechanic and the service writer a Mobil gas card for their troubles.
  16. I ordered some parts from Utah yesterday. The girl taking the order told me the term " YFZ " means Polygamist. That went over real well with the wife. Hence the sudden change.
  17. That's Meiko. 17 years old and still catching Gophers. He guards our neighbors giant pumpkin patch:
  18. The way it was explained to us is ya can't have Sat internet if hard wired / land line internet is avail in your area. WTF,, I dunno why but that's what they told us. The Sat internet is expensive anyway IMHO. We looked into ATT U verse, and it will only support 1 HDTV and 4 TV's total. This may have changed, but that's what we were told. However, we liked the ATT U verse cheap Fiber Optic internet service and went with that only and Direct TV. We don't get much TV watching time at home, so when the bad weather hits Dumont or Parker we watch the tube. Dirrect offers several Packages. The HBO premium channels are usually showing crap and not worth the extra Vig. We only watch Discovery Health, Fuel, VS, Speed, Fox NASCAR, TBS, NASCAR, Current and occasionally a couple others. 300 Channels and nothing is on. So ya figure out what ya usually watch, and get the cheapest package. If you're a baseball fan, their attendance is so bad most the games can now be found someplace on the non-premium channels.
  19. Seen some nice swamp cooler Golf Cart units converted to SxS's in Parker.
  20. Are those the mean, Africanized Killer B's?
  21. That's a rough weekend at Coral Pink.
  22. The enclosed auto tracking sat dishes go on sale from time to time. Nice to have in the brutal Dumont winds. Super easy to install, or pay the $48 and have Camping world do it.
