  1. are you accusing a state worker of slacking off??? :chev_bowtie:
  2. I guess you werent around in the 80's when they attempted to unload kangaroo meat on unsuspecting customers??? people died from that.
  3. On the way to the dunes, we have stopped and eaten at two places the BAD greek (i'll lament in a minute) the Bun Boy Ithought the bun boy was decent. they had a rockin strawberry milkshake. their french fries were also above average. the BAD GEEK, on the other hand was horrible. out of the 6 people I was with that ate there, all of us got sick the first night in the dunes, and not from drinking either the food tasted kinda off. I had a side of thousand Island dressing, and it was mayo, mustard, and freeking pickle relish. I will never eat there again long live the world's largest thermometer!!!
  4. my wife and I towed our toyhauler with her Tahoe for over a year before I got my truck. It is def. doable. Just don't be in a hurry to get anywhere.
  5. whats the farking tow cap on that thing....??? don't they dune those in the Dakar rally???
  6. it could be interpreted both ways, but spider, DF is right. everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  7. so, what are you going to do with the DS???
  8. towing with a half-ton............................................................................ usually the weight posted in the trailer is not the real weight. See if you can weigh it on a cat scale, to get a sense of how much it really is. i have heard horror stories about the weight of the trailer being as much as 2000lbs more than stated. a common sensical approach would be to not go over 90% of your tahoe's or dodge's tow capacity, so if your tahoe, theoretically, had a tow cap of 10,000 lbs, You should get a hauler, fully loaded, ready for the dunes, that doesnt come in over 9000 lbs...that is with full water ,fuel, food, gear, quads, what ever else you plan on taking on your trips. You should look at what the GVWR, or gross vehicle weight rating, of the trailer is. It shouldn't be over the tow cap of your tow vehicles. just my opinion good luck as far as service in the LV area....have your dad call the mfg, and recommend someone else for service.
  9. yeah, I want my son to enjoy what we do 25 yrs from now. I wonder if BLM accepts constructive criticism??? found it!!! it is a mail address...so copy and paste to your email woinfo@blm.gov
  10. I serviced it @ 25 hours, and then @ 125, so Im good thaks for the reminder
  11. just got the job done a bit ago took less than 1 hour for the switch. thr freeken group 24 batt boxes fit my new costco 6v batts..NICE now for an inverter for the tv dvd. i fired up the genny today to run it alittle. i already have 165 hours on that thing hole chit!!!
  12. just picked up two costco 6 volt batteries @ 62.99 each.... and they fit in my group 24 boxes!! I do have a question though. I have a power tongue jack that is grounded on the tongue, and has a positive power lead that went to the positive on my 12v.... once the 2 6v are hooked up in series, can I just hook that power lead to the positive, and get the same thing? thanks
  13. it could have the extended warranty I have heard many good things about skyline and their products. most rv mfgs don't actually weigh their rigs @ the plant. skyline is the only one I have heard of that does. people that I know that have the skyline have had nothing but good things to say about them
  14. off topic-- listen to this one I have had ALL my cars in the last 9 yrs lubed @ walmart. They even did my duramax a couple of times. time before last, they didn't remove my skid plate before they drained the oil, and about 2 qrts leaked onto the skid plate. I drove it home and parked it on the driveway, which is at a steep angle, and the #$#@@#@$#@'n oil leaked out on my driveway, which I didn't notice until the next morning. anyway, I had no idea what caused it at the time, so I had it down there the next morning, thinking that the oil filter was loose, or the drain plug, or god knows what else. They tell me what happened, sent a concrete contractor out to my house with some heavy duty circular cleaners, with wire pads, and some strong chemicals. they were there for about 3 hours cleaning my driveway. It looked brand new, as it should ,cause my house is only a few years old. on top of that, they give me a free oil change for my problems. So, I go in to get the free oil change. I tell the tech what happened last time, because he questioned why i had a free oil change. I even reminded him to remove the skid plate. I get it home, park it in the driveway. DEE DEE DEE I come out later that night. my cell phone was still in my truck, and what do you know.........fuggin oil running down my driveway. I call wally world they send a couple bozos out, after dark, with kitty litter and simple green to clean up my driveway I even told them that it is dark, they can't see all the oil stains, and that they should come back.....NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO. they spent all of 15 minutes, leaving about 100 lbs of kitty litter on my driveway the next day, I go out there, and sure enough, there are the stains that I told them they would miss. I called the manager again, tell him the problem, and the fact that I have kitty litter all over my driveway, and he basically told me to get lost. I immediately went down to the automotive department, went straight to the manager, had him go over to the computer, and requested he remove all my info off the computer "but mister, there is like 10 yrs of oil changes here, are you saying you arent coming back?" "yup" "okay, have a good one!!!" effe walmart
  15. I am sad to say, that of all the experiences I have read about over on RV.NET, it seems like this is the typical run-around RV experience. I have a theory on where it comes from too. To lower costs, and to improve their bottom line, the MFG's in CA have been using illegal aliens for some time now in their manufacturing plants. Even WW had a quality control issue that started about 2 yrs ago. I am not sure that they have that under control even now. many new owners of the fsc and fsw WW's are experiencing the same issues, leaking plumbing, non-mounted D rings, and many more. unfortunately, many RV mfg's are here in CA. if one mfg goes to illegal aliens for work, the rest have to keep up, or fall behind in sales. I used to think along the same lines as you, when I was your age(that is the first time I have said that, I swear ), until I experienced it myself. Baby stuff, chevy tahoe stuff, toy hauler stuff, wal-mart.......the customer service that was EXPECTED 10 yrs ago just doesn't exist any more. glad you got your rig running again for t-day.....you guys deep frying a turkey???
  16. the big RV companies, who sell and have a service dept, dont give a rats azz about the service. the service dept is pretty much set up to do warranty work, which the RV seller does not care about. the RV sellers make an absurd amount of money on new RV sales, sometimes even over 100% of what they get it for from the mfg. :freakin_nuts: that is where their bread and butter are, and that is why all the illegal aliens are in the service dept... go figure that.. here is what I have done, since my rig is out of warranty. I have found a few places here in town that just do service....no sales. I have found them to be more competent. they also do not have a huge turn over in employees, like the big rv sellers who have a service dpt. Also, the service IS their bread and butter, so they tend to pay more attention to detail the first time it is in the shop these are just my observances. too bad you live like 5 hours away, cause I would have come over and helped you...for only a 12 pack of beer :north_pole: (after the install, of course)
  17. the gvwr is 10,000 lbs. dry weight is just under 5000. the water tanks (100 gallons) are in the front, as is the batteries, propane, fridge....most of the living stufff, ahead of the axles. the current fuel cell is right behind the rear axle. I was thinking it wouldnt be a problem to go with like a 50 gal, if my current was 18...that would come out to about and extra 256 lbs. that is livable. who did your fuel cell? do you think a poly tank would hold up???
  18. get used to it. that is the way RV service centers work, unfortunately. think about this, though. Some idiot, with half your IQ installed that thing on your heater. I know you are hurting for time, but 500 bucks could open up an afternoon for you, right??? RV.NET was a great resource for me (until I got kicked off for pissing some people off ) I am sure there is a post somewhere on the net that shows how to do it. If the freekin tard-os @ bendu-over RV can do it, that pretty much tells me that anyone can..
  19. has anyone done it? I have a smaller trailer with an 18 gal tank for the genny & the pump station. it works well with just the quads, but now i have the ranger, and that thing is a gas guzzler :chev_bowtie: there is plenty of room inside the frame for a bigger tank. I was thinking about heavy duty poly tank, instead of an aluminum, or steel tank, for non-corrosive purposes what do you guys think?
  20. for the first year, which doesn't even take care of all the interest that accumulates. then, your payment jumps up to over 200 a month. that yammy credit "deal" is really no deal at all, unless you are in a position to pay it all off in the first year. The clown in bakersfield that rents rhinos thinks an aweful lot of his sheeit too. like 400 bucks a day to rent. You ought to see the rental business @ pismo beach. when you rent, you sign a waiver that states that you break anything, you pay for it, through your credit card that you paid for the rental with.
  21. no, I am not talking about those. I am talking about these look at this POS
  22. the ones I have seen around bakersfield. they are not busa rails the ones I saw at the local polaris dealer were shiet. i drove one around the parking lot. freekin ridiculous felt like i was in a clown car..... Da da daddle ladal da da da da....da da daddle la da da da, da da dada da da da dada da dont dont donnel nana dont dont da na :chev_bowtie:
  23. I have ALL my insurance through state farm...homo-ners :freakin_nuts: , both cars, two quads, ranger, life insurance...blah blah blah. ds650- 9 bucks a month- 108 a year ranger-12 bucks a month-144 a year chinese 90- 5 bucks a month- 60 bucks a year but i get a discount for letting state farm RAPE me for home owners in CA
  24. all right, now I am offended I am 37....gonna be 38 in April. the reason time goes by faster, is that the older you get, the more responsibility you have, hence, the busier you are (unless you are a useless welfare recipient with 10 kids from 35 different dads. ) just some "old man" logic, and political comment :freakin_nuts:
