  1. here is my solution.....Im putting windows in now, but it has two roof airs, a 7000 electric start generator, awning, toilet, tools, sink, etc....
  2. I considered a stacker, but teh cost didnt justify it. I think the big problem with a stacker toyhauler will be weight. I have a 50 ft race trailer (GN) and you need a real good truck to pull it. A stacker toy hauler at 44-47 ft....would be 25k lbs easy. Ive loaded mine up to 29k and I dont think any new truck could pull it well. My truck makes 550 rwhp and 1100 ft lbs to do it. The other problem is that most stackers are tags....and towing a 30 ft tag is way harder then towing my 50 ft GN cause I can go 90 degrees to my trailer easily to swing it around. I will never go back to a tag. A GN is easier to hook up, and manuever then a 20 ft car hauler opentrailer.
  3. The funny thing is, that youll see fords with cummins conversions but you cant find dodge on the planet with powerstroke conversion. Het they are all good trucks, just remeber the days of gas 454's and 6.5 deisels.......and gas 460's......argggg.. Ofcourse cummins is the best still so dodge wins by defualt.
  4. Well last night was the last track event of the year. Probably the best night of the year weather wise too. 42 degrees or so. DA was around 1000 ft I heard. The 99 camaro (full street car) I have went 10.20@ 133 with a 1.505 60 ft on 26x 11.5 x 16 mt et street tires. Hung the wheels pretty good, I was tolld it looked to be over two feet but I really doubt it personally. It is a stock 346 ls1. stock crank, stock rods, stock pistons still. Used z06 cam, 317 truck heads, stock intake manifold, stock throttle body, 3.00 gears in a 9 inch. The only thing its missing is the back seat. It runs one of my turbo kits, intercooled, gt76 turbo, 60 lb injectors and my tuning and I shift at 6000. The engine has about 85k miles on it. The tires inthe picture are slicks that died so I put on the dots with a stock 16 inch camaro wheel. It liked the shorter tire (shorter gear) , it ran the best 60 ft by along ways on the small tires.

    618 HP Busa

A TRE is just that, there are several different ones. One problem with some is that you ll get the fi light or the idle will change. A power commader is a piggy back pcm controller. You tune it via laptop , for almost everything, fuel, timing etc... The PC3 or usb is about 300.00. You can also make some changes via the box with out the laptop or download online maps too. I use a pc3 on my busa. Another note worthy mod may be to raise the limiter, from 10,800 to 11.100 , you send your pcm to Daveo and it runs about 110 I think. If its torque you want run 4 long stacks in the airbox, stock is two short two long. Ill trade ya for two shorts if you want to try it. Most busa drag racers run 4 shorts. You did do the air box mod right? There are two actually but really easy. A bmc race filter too. Then their is the easy 60 shot of nitrous...... A good case saver is the after market sproket covers, about 220 I think, but if yu toss a chain youll probably hurt the cases and take out the water pump , the saver has a steal protector plate built in.
  6. I dont think your camparing apples to apples. I see nice sammys for 3000, already lifted or on wheels/tires etc. A stock beater sammy (5 spd) goes for 800-1600 ......800 on wheels and tires and it goes anywhere a rhino goes. Infact lifting it is not needed at all, all it does is make it easier to roll. They are for getting around not duning, if you want to go duning get a rail.
  7. personally I dont see why. Like you said why not a samurai? Twice the power, only alittle heavier, street legal, and about 1/4 the cost for a nice one. Like rhinos, ofcourse they all will roll over if over driven. They are for tooling around, not duning on the big hills.
  8. dec 1 ....I m taking two turbo cars, its the last day till atleast feb or march.
  9. We had a great time. Seemed like most TG weekends, pretty crowed to me. Dunes were in decent shape as long as you go with the flow. I almost got stopped in tacopa but thankfully I was going slow enough. The road friday was in great shape I thought. The throttle on my banshee is sticking.....anyone got an idea on that?
  10. There are so many variables the only thing a chassi dyno is good for is if you repeatedly use the same one for testing. The actual number is virtually worthless. First there is what kind of dyno? Dynojets are commonly way higher then say a mustang dyno. Second there is sae or corrected? Then there are those factors, temp, hum, altitude, etc....and if the operator inputs any? Then the gears in the car, final drive ratio, effects calculated rwhp. The gear they do the pull in also effects the hp. Tire size, and the angle at which the tie downs are applied. I ve seen nearly 100 hp swings with no change in the car, depending on these factors. Dyno operators know that people like big numbers, so which way do you thnk they will fudge? Typically about 14.5 psi will double the na output. Timing can effect rwhp just as much as psi in some areas. 1 degree here or there or the fuel, which effects timing etc.... I like the mustang dyno personally, I dyno a car on the mustang, if it makes 360 on there it will go 400-410 on the dyno jet. I hate to say it, but most of the hp numbers I hear in sand world seem very high, esspecially for what I ve seen done. Being that I know alot about and build and tune ls1's everyday, this is my reference. Most ls1 sand cars seem very over rated imo. Ofcourse , just like on the pavement, tire choice seems to be just as important in the sand which most never expiriment with or ever get timed in the sand anyways, just like suspensions.

    firewood

there is a house next to me, that has about 10 already cut down trees. They were huge, about 30 years old. I know you could take as much as you want but you ll need a gas chain saw. You could rumage the small peices too.....
  12. 4.50 a gallon for meth in the drum? Dam, someone is making $$$. I dont even buy it by the drum, and I get it for around 2.00.......you do burn almost twice as much, but the octane is way up there, so detonation is unlikely in a boosted car. I run it in my cummins too, just not straight. Running it straight as primary fuel, it will never over heat either.
  13. most of the information was directly from him. I guessed on the age but he did have a black eye, was pretty swollen etc.... 36 makes more sence I guess cause his son was pretty young. As for 70...thats what he said, I didnt really question it, my street cars withs ls1's go to 62-65 in first, 120 in second with a 26-28 inch tall tire. So if he had 4.10-4.56 or something similar I could see it. He also had a boost gauge on the dash (not turboed yet) but maybe it was geared for turboes. In any case, yes a helmet would have limited his head facial lacerations, any beyond anything else he was lucky and the car held up were it needed to. The passenger comparment was pretty much perfect, compared to the rest. Im glad he walked out and talked to us, because if you just look at the car, you feel like he was probably hurt. The only reason I look at the wrecks is to learn more about what to do and what not to do. He is a very experienced duner for many years, and that alone doesnt make you untouchable, it may have contributed to him surviving though. He used his experince to choose a car, he used his experience to get the attention of passing duners etc....
  14. Me and a freind were tooling around looking at rails, and looking for dunefreak to try and get a ride as we spotted a wrecked rail on an open trailer. This thing was demolished. It was a very nce long travel car. We looked it over pretty good. Many broken chassis bars, almost all of the suspension bent or broken. The drivers seat bent, head rest bent, bars bent, steering wheel bent, remaining wheels bent, etc..... A few minutes later we talk to a teenager breifly, then the owner comes out. The story. He arrived thursday night. He was in his 40's maybe early 50's. Said he's been duning his entire life, going to dumont since he was a kid. He had just bought this long travel car in september, new. He had it once before last weekend. He arrive, put his paddles on and decided to just go for a quick ride. He said he isnt a jumper anymore, just likes duning. It was dark. He went by himself. The wind was blowing alittle. As he climbed a hill near the back side of comp, he thinks the wind was blowing up the dune, so it looked like it went further. It did not. He went off the top of the hill in the top of second gear (ls1 car) he figures probably around 70 mph. He said he was air born for what seemed like forever. He landed on the nose straight down, and cart wheeled many times end of end down the hill. No one saw the wreck. He lost his shoe in the wreck. The radio to base camp wouldnt reach anyone, no one either had theirs on or his was broken. He was bleeding, from the head (lol to you no helmet guys) . He walked for around 20 minutes, then at some point went back to his car, on its side, and flashed its lights to people he could see, they didnt see him or come to him. He waited, and did it again for some on quads, and they saw him. Two paramidics inthe group. They got a rail to get him back to camp. He had a bruised foot, (lost shoe), a cut on his head (minor it turned out) and a black eye. He also stated a huge bruise from his lap belt. Thats all besides soreness. The car was hurt bad, maybe fixable, but probably not . He said, in hind sight he 1. shouldnt have gone alone. 2. shouldnt have thought it would just be a short easy ride 3. should have had some sort of communication. 4. flash light He also said, he knows he got incredibly lucky, esspecially considering the circumstances. Almost any injury would have killed him (with no help around), with his freinds and family only a mile away.
  15. no idea, I was camped about 200 yards away. anybody? Did you see the long travel car on the open trailer, the completely wrecked one? I talked to the guy, amazing.......story and he walked away.
  16. the best law to make everyone happy, if you dont wear a helmet then you can NOT wear seat belts either. If your found wearing seat belts you can be fined. LOL.. In the end it solves everyones problems. I find it strange to compare to bikes and quads. It seems like a red hearing argument. You can or will be ejected from the quad or bike but will not from a rail with out hitting things. Applaes and oranges and a poor argument. The other it is speed. Most rails are faster than most bikes or quads. Not that all wont go fast enough to kill you but many rails can / will go 100 mph on the flats. A couple bumps latter its a wild ride to a stop. It seems strange not to wear a helmet to me, because in any motorsprts areana a helmet is required. Tractor pulling...I mean what can happen, really? drag racing....im mean really your going straight ........what could happen? pro solo, scca, your by your self......on a open course, how could you get hurt? All we want is ls1/ turboed 350 z/ turboed subaru/ turbo vw, north star, rotary powered light weight cars to run fast over rough terrain? Im really, only a few can do 6 ft wheelies, they only jump them what 60 mph up to 30 ft high, want them to slide like a japaness drifter, and carry your freinds and family while doing it. Oh lets not forget that not one is inspected or built to any guildelines so they are all perfectly safe to start. Remeber your only 100-200 times more likley to die at he dunes then just carrying on life on a day to day basis. Thats not that much, really.
  17. thats scary, how hard of roll over was that? It pulled the whole a pillar down too, in toward the driver? It looks real good in the back though. I was gonna add a 1. GPS so if you need help or need to call for help or go get help you can find the broken /hurt people again or tell medical the gps coordinates . 2. A pain killer. I take lortab cause I ussually have them because I ve had a back fusion. I take around 10 per year, but if your at the dunes and get hurt, take or two for the ride home. Broken bones, etc.. 3. I always make my wife carry a spare key to the truck. So either of us could drive it with out needing the other there. 4. We also fuel up on the way so if incase of an acident we wouldnt need to stop on the way back even if we would have to go to an unknown medical service place like needles. You never know.

um, yea .....what are you doing weds night? Actually the car I quoted, is sitting in my shop right now. It has about 80k miles on the oem 346 ls1. It has a z06 cam, 3.00 rear gears in a 9 inch , runs on a 28x10.5 tire at the track. It has the back seat removed and runs on welds at the trrack. It makes more then 600 rwhp also. It also runs one of my turbo systems that I build, it has a gt76 turbo, intercooler and runs 60 lb injectors with tuning by me. On weds Ill be trying to get another car into the 9's . That car has already been 10.54 and runs 2.75 gears and is a T top ss with full leather on the stock 17 inch ss wheels.. Remeber we are at 2200 ft also with a DA ussually around 4000-5500 ft. Now is the "good" season as the DA may be sub 3000 ft. I can probably find some videos still of one going 11.1 or so on the net. That was awhile ago. I found some pics, the dark blue one is a SS that has a completely stock engine, all the way to the airbox still, it goes low 11's @122-123, the light blue one is the 99 that went 10.62, the red one went 10.54, and the white TTA is mine and it went 10.88 on the stock engine (lc2 obviously)
  19. whats fnny is that half the people in rails wear a head sock, head phones, goggles, anyways......why not just outfit a helmet with the head phone? BTW choice is good, just dont cry if something happens. This country is full of people that want freedom but only on their terms. I want to buy an suv then blame the maker cause I rolled it over on the freeway. Freedom comes at a price, thats why we say they are in a better place....if they are their is no reason to be sad.
  20. I went the race trailer way, with living quarters in the front. Not as plush as a toy hauler but more usable space. Mine is a 50 ft goose neck, but it takes a strong truck to pull it.

TOP, why do you think my stuff s perfect? I highly suggest you reread, carefully this time. I didnt say or even imply my stuff is perfect. Why try to make such a childish attack when the only topic here is safety? If someone comes up to me and says hey do you know that having your belts mounted like that will compress your spine? Ill say.....really? can you explain why cause I sure as hell dont want that to happen. This isnt a mines bigger then yours contest, racing to prove something? Im happy when I leave with fond memories and no pain. 600 hp v8's yea I call them daily drivers. 10.620 @129 two weeks ago stock internal 99 camaro street car. I race on flat ground with christmas tree and a finish line.
  22. I dont think thats entirely true. I have a neighbor that owns a dealership. Well as of halloween night anyways.

on the 45 gussetsI would make them as long as possible, but that depends on how big the possible passengers are. Ussually around 6-8 inches and 1 inch di is fine. You may be able to go slightly longer since it appears that head room would not be the issue. Once you put a lid on it they will double as a grab handle for entry and exit also. Since there is a middle bar I d x both sides in 1 or 1.25. and tab em so what ever lid you put on wont rattle.
