The case can be made that you would not go to Dumont to meet with your friends unless they were there to use the OHV area and camping area. However I am certainly not an Attorney and I do believe that we as users should be able to have non-users come out and visit for the day or weekend. The plan is that if you buy a season pass you will be able to get an "extra" vehicle pass so the wife or friends can join you without paying for another pass. That vehicle MUST come in without any OHV attached or in the bed etc. We are working on this for next year but have to go through DAC and RRAC to get it approved. See the goverment bureauacy works at a completely different pace and time then normal business where decisions are made and implemented daily. Just does not happen in goverment offices. So consider your head slapped:)

If I read your first and second e mail you attacked me personally for at least attempting to gain some rapport with a typically non relationship goverment bureauacy. (Try dealing with the BLM and it's LEO's at Glamis). Sorry that the world does not fall at your feet and meet your demands. I will tell you that your input along with others does make a difference on how Barstow BLM does their job at Dumont and surronding areas. I am not the "official" spokesperson for this web site, anything I said I stand by as a personal opinion and not as a representitive of this web site. I want to make that clear as I do not own nor am I a mod for ths site. I do not agree with your attitude nor your thought process and I have never said that you need to fall in line with BLM, all I ask is that maybe you walk a mile in their shoes before you make rash and irrational statements about things you no nothing of. Dealing with a govermental bureauacy is a totally different unertaking and has to be understood by spending time in their world and their system to learn how it does work or in your opinion not work. I would be glad to sit down over a cold one around the campfire and hear your opinion on how we can change things for the better. Understand that I am only one voice in a sub-group of 9 but I would be glad to pass along your issues and see if we as a sub-group can assist. Will the fees ever go away? Probably not the goverment is broke and the state of California is broke so fee's will not be departing soon. You can either look at it as you at least get some services for what you pay or you do not depending on what your outlook on life is which I think I already know. Terry

So your in Law Enforcement and this is your attitude? I am sorry your son had a bad run in with a LEO, have you never had a bad day on the job and taken it out on someone else. Maybe that LEO was the one who had to tell the family of their loss on Friday night's incident at comp. A little slack might be a good attribute to learn.Well I know I have and I did 8 years in law enforcement. It does not make you any thing but another citizen when your out of your jursidiction. As for insulting me personally your not getting a cherry pal. I have stood besides BLM, against them and I am sure will do both in the future. However I have been stopped by LEO's out at Dumont who were transferred in from other areas (Like Glamis does). The only ones I had an issue was from Vegas where we know from living here have a bad attitude against off roaders. I kindly accepted my a$$ chewing and then offered his supervisor some information on his actions and words. Guess what, Vegas BLM does not come out to Dumont anymore. Not because of my complaint but from the large amount of complaints that went through channels. Coming on here and ranting against law enforcement at Dumont is not going to win you many friends. This web site and most of it's members do their best to fight to keep Dumont open and operate within the rules. They come to the clean up, they tie their trash down as their leaving and they try to do the right thing. Do we always succeed, nope but at least we try. I am totally unimpressed with your anger management issues and that you carry a weapon for a living. I see many IAB interviews in your future. If you want to complain about things at Dumont then I suggest you come to the Sub-group meetings held in barstow about every 3-4 months and voice your concerns in front of all of us that serve to make Dumont a better place. i mean with all your money you can afford to drive down the hill can't you? Terry

Actually Old guys Rule would be the big flag of my choice if I could find one.But thank you all for taking care of the "funco" issue. Not that I am not grateful to Jim for the loaner. Terry

I am praying to have my car back before Clean-up weekend and if so it will be real close. If it happens I will go out the Thursday before clean up, otherwise Friday night. Until then it's run around Vegas and try to get some great raffle prizes for those who come out and clean the place up!

So what the hell does it matter what you pay in taxes and what does that have to do with your feelings toward Law Enforcement officer? That you should show such disrespect for a uniformed Law Enforcement Officer is downright wrong.. You may not like nor think that LEO's that are BLM rangers are deserving of any respect but to me it is a respect owed the uniform and badge. You don't buy a pass but I guarantee that you would be the first b*tch whining if you or your family member got injured severly enough for life saving assistance that "the BLM" wasn't on scene fast enough or quick enough to suit you. Well pal the LEO's deserve their pay and if you don't pay the fee's to use the area you will have no one to blame but yourself and the other folks who think the "Goverment " owes you something. There is no something for nothing in this world. I would respectfully suggest that you get over yourself and show some respect to the other people who do pay the fee's and play by the rules.

President's Day weekend reports and pics- post em up!

We left the hill climbs on our way North along the face of the dunes and before we could get to the end of the dunes and get on the throttle we were almost hit by 4 different quads. I am not sure any of them saw us, it seemed like a lot of riders had blinders on and a I don't give a sh*t attitude. Maybe this will improve? I hope it does but I have to agree that of all the weekends I prefer the "off weekends" If I didn't have friends racing and old friends that are in the jeep club I would not have gone out. I had a great weekend and all in all it wasn't that bad but we hung around camp, went on a couple of runs and watched the hill climbs and and about half of the drags. Anytime at dumont is better than beng at home. -
From my conversation with BLM yesterday the rail was travelling the normal right to left along or nrar the top of Comp. The quad came up over the backside of comp and basically ran into the side of the rail right at the back wheel. He hit it so hard it forced the rail into a 180 turn. Comp hill is a dangerous place a night period, Coming up the back side and not k ow ing if there was anything on the other side was a tragic mistake and I feel for the family and wish the rider God's speed. One of the other Flights for life was a stroke victim who was flown out. In talking to BLM they had 10 medical calls within 1 hour on Sunday. They were handeling it well but were amazed at the amount of incidents that had occured. I don't know if it is that fact that people are starting to come back out and may have been away for a while and lost some riding skills and some dune equittete.

Call the Desert Gun Club. They have several that work out of there or hang business cards. I will try to get ahold of my brother. He used someone in Boulder City and was real happy with him. I will post when I get back from Dumont.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So did he travel to FT. Irwin or was he found at the dunes or on the way? -
Staci and Jodi Thank you for your offers and I will take you up on them. We will need 3-5 volunteers to get everybody registered and hand out bags etc. A new twist this year is that each adult get an wrist band to get them out the gate without paying. If they don't sign up and register, get an arm band they will be required to show an annual pass or have purchased a pass. By doing this it drives the number of volunteer hours up for BLM and also keeps the people who come out and play without helping from using the area without contributing to the upkeep of it. Terry

In the past years i usually spend countless hours driving all over Las Vegas and making phone calls to companies all over the U.S. trying to obtain the best raffle prizes for the clean up raffle. I will do this again this year but, This year I am asking for some help in this; To any company or person who wants to promote their service or company and makes a donation worth $100.00 or more we will display your banner, list your prize on this forum and promote the hell out of your company/service etc. at the raffle and registration. If you cannot donate $100.00 worth we will still promote your donation and business just not display a banner. We will take anything having to do with quads, SXS's,Buggy's,Travel, gift cards, RV's and anything else you may want to put out there. If you are a service company and want to donate cash so that we can purchase items that can be given away in your name we would welcome that. Friends of dumont dunes is a 501C organization and letters documenting such are available just by contacting me. We have taken an event that started out 10 years ago under 2 EZ ups in the rain to an event with approx. 750 to 1000 people showing up to have fun, collect trash, have a free lunch, and generally have a great day of fun and friendship with fellow duners. Any thing you could do to make this years event the best yet will truley be appreciated. It is truly my privilage to lead this organization and accomplish not only this event but a lot of behind the scenes involvement with users and the BLM. For this I thank all who read this. For any further information please contact me through this sight or my e-mail; terryallen@cox.net The day of this event is March 17th 2012 Saturday Thank You in advance, Terry

Not sure adam, never took it any further than once so I would say your safe:) After 6 years of hard running the car in the dunes I screwed up one time. Now I probablly will have a reputation and no one will want to ride with me, oh wait that's a good thing I don't have to worry about anybody but me. That means I can go faster. Terry
