Adam, from what I hear the new years weekend crowd was pretty small and I am expecting it to tbe the same MLK weekend. Winds are supposed to blow this weekend so it should smooth them out just in time for us to destroy them again. I have cell cervice at Dumont and have it near me most of the time except when I am on a run then it is in a ziplock tucked away to protect it from that mean old sand. If you don't have my cell # PM me and I will get it to you. I guarantee an air bed inside a trailer will be way more comfy tham the back of your truck(been there done that!) Plus you can have access to a shower and the whole M/H for everything else. My bet is MLK weekend is going to be great and I am going come hell or highwater, well unless the M/H isn't done. But I was there today with the final parts delivery and they want it out of there as bad as I want it back. Let me know? Terry

There really are no open trails in the general Dumont area except the Sperry wash trail which is 5.3 miles long and legally ends at the old mine. If you choose to go down or alongside the paved county road you leave yourself open to citations. Also if you travel down the dirt road to the date ranch you face the same issue. The owner of the date ranch is an anti OHV business and only takes your money to use it against you and the access we have left. There is a nice traik/road all around the big dunes that is fun although not that challenging by any means. You can also ride along the Salt lick mounains (outside the barrier notices) to the old mine out at the little dunes. If you have kids or like history this is a great ride then walk up to the mines. There is a lot of history there from old military & settlers/miners and indian fights to Charlie Manson and his girls hiding out there. There is good signage and old buildings and the mine shafts are safe and closed but you can really see what it must have been like back in the day. To get back to China Ranch I would polietly ask that you boycott that business, It is a sham for eco terroists and their blind flock. Terry

Adam, I told you you were always welcome at our camp. We would even have room in the trailer for an air bed and a sleeping bag. I have both. Usually the M/H is full but there is room in there and it can be a little cold but it's better than sleeping in a truck ot=r tent. Besides my car likes the company:) Seriousilly anytime your more than welcome, just let me know. We are in for MLK Friday afternoon till Monday.

Sorry to be a smart a$$ but if they beat you when they hit 4th gear doesn't that mean that you lose? Just saying.

MLK is a very unstable holiday weekend as far as attendance. Some years it has been heavy others it has been almost an off weekend. I haven't gotten a report of how crowded or un-crowded new Years was, that is usualyy a good indicator of the MLK weekend. Keep in mind this last halloween weekend was one of the busiest in several years yet I thought Thanksgiving was about 60% of normal. So to cut to the bottom line, don't worry about the amount of people as you cannot control it and you can have fun in spite of the turn-out. It's nice if it's a light weekend you can get in some fast hard rides if that's what your into and even if it's busy you can always find areas for the kids to ride. So it looks like I will be making that weekend and as to the area between bathroom's 12 vs. 9 is that if you come further into the road past 12 almost to #10 and make a left you can find hard ridges out almost all the way to 9. You wll always have one or two dips to go through but just goose it a little if you see tracks showing soft sand. It's been dry so I usually give it a little more steam through the lower parts just to be on the safe side. You will find in my opinion a large difference most of the time between camping near any of the fingers and camping back near 9 or 12. It's usually less dust(espically if everybody obeys the camp speed limit) and less noise and BS. I am always near #9 and your more than welcome to stop by and say hi, catch a ride or have a chat. Look for awhite 40' Alfa M/H with a long white trailer and a red sand car. that would be us. Terry

Talk to Jon Crowley at UTVGUIDE.com He runs a beefed up Teryx and could probably offer you some advice. He also has articles on his upgrades and challenges. Terry

I believe the saying is "speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?"

They make a sensor cleaner that you can try it has a 50% chance of working. Otherwise there is a "Pinned "subject on Glamis dunes.com under rv's that has a whole section on cleaning and trying to get your sensors to work. It involves Calgon bath soap, 20 lbs of ice and some other tricks. I think once the sensors get covered in crap they stay that way but that thread at least gives you some options to try. Terry

Well we were working on it but the motor home will not be ready until next Tuesday so an overnight trip is out. Might look at a day trip on Sat. We will see if we can get that together.
-
If the motorhome is out of the shop I think we will have to make a weekend out of it. I wanted to stay away from the busier weekends but after missing my" right after Christmas" trip I need a sand fix and see if that huge check I had to pay Cummins was worth it
-
I wondered the same thing, but I wasn't going to say anything but since you did I thought it opened the door!

Either way it's a shame so close to the holidays and the impact on their families. At least they went out doing something they enjoyed instead of something not as fun. RIP

-
You have a PM. Merry Christmas
-
The wife kindly reminded me that it was Christmas eve and we had a dinner to go to Sat. night and people coming over on Christmas, so instead of ripping the dunes I imagine I will be doing a list of honey do's. Gotta keep her happy or she trys to stand in front of the M/H when I want to go to Dumont and I really don't want to scratch the paint as I mow her down! Have fun see you guys soon. That is if the Cummins guy's ever get done raping my checkbook.

My wife works for one of the Dodge dealers in town, so I am guessing that your looking for a tech after hours to do this?

My 2005 450yfz with a yoshi pipe had the same issue about a year ago. I contacted Yoshi and they sent me a new head pipe at a reasonable price. I didn't want to change the whole system. Contact the manuf. and I bet they have a deal on the head pipe. I think because the pipes get so hot all the time that they tend to thin out and end up breaking. Phone call is cheaper than a whole exuast system. IMHO Terry

I have the car insured for 30k and the RZR s for 12k and it's about $1100.00 per year. Ihad the car at $50k but felt that they would never pay that amount if it got totalled and wanted to cut my expenses some. I also feel that unless it went up in smoke or it got stolen and never recovered there would be enough parts to scrounge off of it to make up the difference.

X2 on Mike, he's a great guy.
