  11. I'm new to the dunes and don't have a sand toy yet but I can bring Fireball and rum! I'm leaving my camper here and hopping in with a guy and girl with a 4 seat RZR. Is there anything else I can bring?

  13. That's my outdoor wood stove. Stoke it up and it gets red hot. The stove pipe keeps us from getting smoked out. Way more efficient with wood than an open campfire.

  15. We saw both of the rzr’s Being towed out. Both cages collapsed, the single seat was worse. Neither accident looked that forceful. I don’t have info on helmets or belts. Just keep getting the word out. You have to put a proper cage, and belts, before you go riding.

  16. Sad Thanksgiving for many, seems the stuff in G was mostly non side by side related... I would say though, and it has been said before (not referring to any particular accident) All side by side stock belts need to be changed out to harnesses before use as well as Polaris cages. If you can not afford to spend that extra money you can not afford the side by side... Godspeed to all the fellow duners who lost their lives and prayers to all those effected, I couldn't even imagine....

  17. New Years was a blast got out a little later than anticipated but got there. Road in wasn't to bad got to where we camped at unloaded set up the car The kids were already geared up ready to go took it out for a quick ride and the dunes were still damp a little like always. Had a blast later on in the day though saw a jeep that rolled over Unsure of any injuries but no flight or ambulance so pray all is well. A lot of stuff being towed though from dirt bikes to rails seemed like a lot more than usual. All in all was a great trip this time around Even the in-laws came out and had some fun as the night winded down got kinda windy so we did an early toast so the in laws could get back home. We hung out for a bit then off to bed only to get woken up by everyone's fireworks which was an awesome display on some of the surrounding camps. Again had a blast can't wait to get out there again. How was everyone else's that went out.

  18. It was a quick turn around weekend for us, since we had just been there for 6 days, home for 4, then back out for 3 more. The dunes were like night and day, amazing what 4 days and a bunch more people does to the dunes, especially when they are wet. But we figured that coming in and were mainly headed back out to spend time with friends. We got pulled over on Dumont Rd coming in, we were harassed, but not given any ticket. We had a light bar in the grill on coming down the rd, even though it is a dirt rd, going to an off road area, it is not legal until after the pay station. Rolled into camp and unloaded just in time for the fights! Up early the next day, got a couple runs in. Man that stuff was tore up and choppy! I was so thankful for my new power steering. Then we made the last sunset ride of 2016. It was back to camp to get our New Year party started! And it was a great one! Adam brought his DJ equipment out and we danced our asses off with our live DJ. Shasta had so much fun chasing the dj lights, she had a "light hangover" the next day. But man she was a happy party dog! There were tons of laughs and most made It until midnight. Sunday brought on a day of relaxing with the football games. And we tried to go on a ride, but there were so many people having a great time ripping Up the sand, that we couldn't get a good line and flow, so we went back to camp to try again later, for the first sunset run of 2017! And it was a good one! Sunday night the winds picked up and started howling. So we had a football party in our hauler and still had a great time. Monday the winds continued to scream, so we had a late breakfast and hauled ass through the packing up, before heading home to wait for two more weeks until we can return again for MLK. 1231162212.mp4 1231161947a.mp4

  20. Camped at the little dunes, had the LEO's roll into camp in a side by side. They said hello and left. Sat was VERY busy in the dunes, Sun was quiet but windy so we were finally able to stretch buggies legs.

  23. The sound of that crash was horrendous, I went back and forth to the injured's camp a few times to keep the injured passengers wife informed / calm as she was watching the kids in camp, we also took her to see her husband before he was flown out. Having dentboys wife at the seen was a true blessing for those three, and hopefully a relief for the wife in camp. Props to Pete for handling communications (at the price of his phone), Anna for taking exceptional care care of the young one and Chad for acting quickly / getting his wife. I've seen a lot of incidents like this over the years, some much worse, it really sinks in how remote the area is and how helpless one can feel. While I have my opinions on this particular accident, I will keep them to myself. Most of these accidents can be prevented and a lot of injuries can be reduced by having proper safety equipment. Hope everyone involved heal up quick and even more gain knowledge. I will state the obvious though, I wouldn't drive out of the trailer in a rzr with stock belts and / or a stock cage. I think any seat would have come out the way the rzrs are designed as they rely on the belts / passenger to keep them in place. Hope all involved recover quickly, I fractured C6-C7 on a dirt bike years ago, it may take a while but the spine can recover from trauma. edit to add: There was a group of guys and a girl there (for the drags) in a white F250, they were first on scene as they were right there when it happened. They stayed with the injured till all were transported which was quite a while. Nicely done fellow duners
