  1. kinda thought being stimulated was a prerequisite for any catagory of "facka", ma facka.
  2. I have Verizon wireless, some spots are snail speed and some spots just a 100' away I have got 2.4 MB P/Sec (broadband). It's NOT the USB modem, a Sierra 740 for the express card slot with an external cell antenna on the motorhome roof. Had it for 2 years.
  3. Pete, consider this, I, or if 80grit wants to, we can scout out a good spot (for light/shadow angle etc) and at the meet & greet, which would be a convenient pre-stage, pass the word around. It could even be during a run after the M&G through the area that's been scouted out. If 80grit is down for it we can bail out of the M&G a few minutes early to set up and you or whoever lead the pack through the "zone", like a decent uphill that rolls out to a gradual down slope. It would provide for good shots of wheelies up the hill and a jump over the top if people want to. The leader could make a big loop back around big enough so the last duner is over the top of the uphill, people will get the idea. The loop can have a sweeper slope for sliding/drifting too. It can have something for eveyone, some are wheelie freaks, some big air freaks, others are big powerslide freaks. Oh yeah, and dunefreaks...... What you think? These scaled down shots were impromptu, no setup or time to get in the right spot, so set up should be better. Mark, Lou, Randog, Stu and Donny almost to the N. pole and I'm on top of comp
  4. If that's the lens I think it is it weighs about 6 lbs and costs 3+ 50D bodies Which body do you shoot with?
  5. A Dumont shootout? A couple cameras and a couple people jumping and wheelies might draw a crowd which will fuel the "hey, you think that's bad ... watch this!" and it usually is quite entertaining. = and maybe :mog: not to mention a couple of
  6. Halogen will work with AC or DC but HID is DC ONLY. Read your documentation for your light, it will say reverse polarity will damage the electronics and void warrantee, plus you'll ruin your chances of having a fan club when people destroy their HIDs
  7. Kerosene will burn as hot as gas but as long as diesel in a smudge pot and no soot, if it's not too expensive. I have a washing machine tub with a hole in the bottom and it fit upside down on top of another one and we fed wood through the top, hot as hell, wind proof and smoke free.
  8. The 50D? Absolutely! To get a better camera you would have to buy the 5D MARK II at $2700 for just the camera body, no lens.
  9. Pete, I didnt notice the 70-300, if you want campfire pics or pics where you're standing close to the subject the 70mm cropped means it'll be 112mm equivalent and kinda restrictive. If you can wait till after pres weekend to decide and/or buy you can check out my 40D, same as 50D with respect to angle/field of view issues and can actually see the differences of the focal lengths . I have a Canon EF 24-70mm (38-112 eq)1:2.8 L USM and a Canon EF 70-200mm (112-320 eq) 1:2.8 L IS USM lens plus a Canon EF 1.4x II extender for the 70-200 that extends the range to an equivalent of 448mm.
  10. As 80grit said the 40/50D sensor isn't a "full frame" sensor, it's an aps-c, means there's a crop factor of 1.6, translated a 31mm aps-c sensor camera gives you the same field of view as a 50mm full frame sensor. A 35mm(the film dimensions) film camera at a focal length of 50mm is 0 magnification (wysiwyg) but a 40/50D crop factor of 1.6 at 50mm focal length gives you the field of view equivalent of an 80mm full frame sensor. here's avisual that puts it in perspective. Red=full frame sensor, Blue=APS-C (1.6) sensor Canon has "C" size lenses but won't work on a full frame camera if you ever upgrade. So your question on the 28-135mm, with the crop factor it will give you the equivalent results a 45-216mm lens on a full frame digital or 35mm film camera, which is a slightly wider field of view than your eyeball vision at 45mm to the equivalent of 216mm at max zoom. As a side note the Canon 5D is the next camera above the 50D and is full framed. Hope this all makes sense, now only a few thousand more tech points to go.
  11. I looked your quad up and it has a rectifier/regulator and a capacitor which takes the place of a battery. Without these it would fry. Too bad all quads don't have these.
  12. You run a HID High Intensity Discharge light that has a ballast and igniter on AC power?
  13. The Towmasters are Greenball, never had 1 fail in over ten years
  14. Pete, I use a 40D and the 50D is basically the same but with more MP a hi-def monitor (920,000 vs 40D 230,000 pixels) latest processor, 6+ frames/sec = 40D. dp-review is the best >>> http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos50d/ <<< 32 pages and tells you everything and compares to previous model as well as compares to other brands, at this level it's usually only Nikon. I'm looking at the new 5D mark ll, but not as fast as the 40/50D . Check my 40D out when we do those pix we talked about. Typically most peoples camera will out-resolve their lens, the lenses that will match will usually cost more than the camera. The lens I shoot most with is twice the cost of the camera. Pete, the pic of Dumont with the A-10 (warthog) was shot with a little Canon S3IS 6MP ($350) and does video also. Anyway, See ya Pres weekend.
  15. Stay away from Carlisle. What brand was the blow out? I had 2 Carlisle and 2 Towmasters installed and less than a year both Carlisle tires failed and replaced and witin a year failed again and the Towmaster tires still had 3/4 of the tread left. Americas Tire/Discount Tire has a bonded road hazard warranty with 100% free replacement if it blows or unrepairable. My last 4 tires cost $12, the then price for the bonded warranty. My brother had a trailer less than a year old and had a blowout going to Dumont, called me and I said if it's a Carlisle (it was) check the other 3 and they had the tread starting to separate, the tread separation bulge.
  16. This is what the big North Pole is missing
  17. You MUST have 12DC power, all atvs, quads and bikes have stators and all stators are AC, all auto Alternators are AC, hence the name, or they would be generators (DC). A rechargeable battery pack or cell or install a full wave bridge rectifier/regulator and battery. No magic wands. When I put an HID on my LT 500 I had plenty of power with super sized light coils I made but had to add the rectifier/regulator and battery.
  18. LOL, good ones RC! I know you have the answers so tell me if I got any right Only in America ......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. 19. Nothing exotic, just old Elements 4 and 1 called Picture Window Pro. Adjusted light levels (lightened the shadows and darkened the highlights a little)in Elements, bumped up the saturation a little and unmask sharpen (2 pixel radius and a 5 on threshold) in PWP, that's it.
  20. Hope you don't mind I tweaked your pic to see the clouds a little better. Digital data is great. Click it.
  21. You obviously are not a connoisseur of the Russian Thistle.
  22. You know why they smell? So deaf people can enjoy them too. It's a turd honking for right of way.
  23. I don't have access to date specific images but alot of the data is new and didn't expect to see your stuff specifically but for other off-road related. A dude tried to steal my truck and I had a hard time tracking footprints after record winds but remembered once seeing a truck like mine (69 F250) on the next street. Went there and found the exact same shoe prints all over. I tracked my stolen dirt bike for at least ten miles and got it back the 2nd day so any lead is better than none. So your LT car had insurance and misc covered by home ins and trailer had no ins ... you better buy a lotto ticket while your luck is good. I still say it's somebody or their friends that are close. Get a hitch lock too. Good deal
  24. Check out the web site www.godunes.com and find the link to Johnson Valley, has pics, gps points etc.
