  1. i keep seeing a post on glamisdotcom about a playtec stolen and i can't get a look at the picture. for some reason, even after i signed up to the website it still won't let me look at pictures.....can someone pleeeeeeeze go take a look and tell me what colors it is or have the guy contact me?
  2. got a look at it today and it's black frame with aluminum panels. turbo vw powered. i spent an hour with mr google looking for the owner of this thing, but haven't found it yet.
  3. gaaaaaawd dam i know i mite be steppin into a hornets nest here posting this. but here goes nuttin'. i just had a guy offer me a sandrail and he says it's a playtec. he's not a thief. he's not even into the hobby...it was abandoned on his property. he went to police...no help. went to CHP. no help.....can't find any serial #'s or any identifying charachteristics to find owner. ..he gave up looking and decided to sell it...HE DOESN'T KNOW FOR SURE IT'S STOLEN.....all indications i have are how the f*** could it not be stolen. i asked if he really wanted to find the owner if it IS stolen and he said "by all means".....so i'm gonna ask anybody knows of a stolen playtec in the last few years powered by a VW ENGINE......not any other engine powered.....to send me a picture of it.......EFF NO....i ain't posting a picture of the buggy....yer gonna have to trust me on this...if it's YOUR stolen buggy or even looks close you will get the inside track on seeing it/identifying it. if i wasn't to be trusted i wouldn't make this attempt......i'm gonna be the final say on whether or not you get to see the actual buggy or pictures.....i haven't even seen it yet but will get a picture in the next week or less. it's quite a ways away from me. send me a pm or post here if you got sumthin for me. i PROMISE if it's YOUR buggy i will get it back to you, but you gotta prove it's yours(if it really is stolen) or you can call me 7sic so six six too zeruh nine fie too.

  10. that pic of the entrance road scared the sh*t outuh me....and I'm fearless! wish i coulda been there. just biden my time til mid july and COOS FOKIN' BAY!
  11. i'm thinkin' bout this one.....if i can find a sitter.
  12. we will be in oregon from jul 18 or 19 until the27th or so. i don't recall that YOU were going to be there then....but if you are then of course i will come to windy bay. you guys can give me the tour there then come to coos bay or spinreel and i will show you those dunes...you been there before? i will want a phone # from you eventually...i got rockets already. lookin forward to it. at this point it looks like i will have the quads, but i could change my mind to the rubicon or even fix the ghetto subaru sanrail and take it(preferred). i used to have a girlfiend that had dune access private road off old hiway 101 a little south of banshee hill. not sure if that's still open there. havent spent hardly any time in that part of dunes in the last 35 years or so.
  13. chuck shaner(and others)from victor valley 4 wheelers built the hammer trails out there. we were just asked to conduct that tour they took out there and i hear they were VERY impressed. they had no idea there was going to be so much resistance to the closure in the beginning. we just presnted a plaque to chuck last fall at our event "fun in the desert" for his contribution to building them. people really do come from all over the world to run some of the toughest trails in america. i just bought a rock crawler toyota pickup from a guy at pismo beach and he built it for the hammer trails, even though he lived 220 miles from them! i plan on doing all the hammers before they close it down. it will be a shame to lose them, but from what i've seen of our gubmint they seem to get what they want. it was nice to see that ray of hope, but color me sceptical. there is an organization called friends of johnson valley if anyones interested. and of course check out victorvalley4wheelers.com if interested in crawlin'.
  14. it was a bit windy all the time, but we had a blast! sprinkled for 5 mins one day. meadow was about half full. many visits by sheriff. saw them hill-climbing their razor(i think it was a razor) and a suzuki quad. what an icredible collection of hill-climbs through trees, dodging rocks, sidehilling really steep hills with rock at bottoms. reminds me of the coos bay dunes....going there in july.
  15. my family will be camped in the meadow from sat to mon morning...stop and say hi if you go. coachmen moho with 8x20 white box trailer and quads. kids most welcome too.
  16. thanks for the kind words everybody.
  17. just got word my brother passed away in his sleep last night.....probly won't be at the D after all.
  18. sooooo.......nobody else got pics of some off-the-wall vehicles in the dunes(sound of crickets chirping).......? sad.
  19. weel be there.............near b/r 6 as usual.
  20. I found an Orange one in El Centro that I literlly stole along with a bunch of add-ons that aren't installed yet. thennnnn....i guess you'll be DRIVING it like you stole it?
  21. someone once called my 4 seater sandrail a "bus", so i figure i've taken it to the next level
  22. the 2 wheel drive 05 oddity came with 215/65/16 tires and i replaced them with 235/16's....so i did cheat a little.....just aired down til i saw the bulge at bottom of tire...not TOO squishy though....biggest problem i had was every time i shut off engine, when i restarted i kept forgetting to turn off traction control. with it on it would barely move(the wheel that spins gets brakes applied so the other wheel has power to it)...with it OFF the ABS or something would still d*ck with it, but at least it moved MUCH better.....somewhere i have pictures of my 1968 vw fastback(box stock, except for big motor) stuck next to my 63 baja bug in the middle of the coos bay dunes where i grew up. the picture dates to about 1982....someday i gotta dig that up and post here. thanks for the complement!
  23. I had an idea a while back about a thread for "unusual" vehicles in the dunes. I had planned on getting to the top of comp hill with the van looking down on comp hill parking lot and getting a picture with the dumontduneriders sticker on the window looking down to parking lot(proof i got it to the top from the backside). I missed by about 300 yards, but you get the idea. I am hoping i start something here and peeps will post a pict. of unusual vehicles that made it to the top of comp hill. No photoshopping allowed. And no towing to the top with yer 500 h/p jeep either.
  24. it's 2 wheel drive...2006 honda oddity....or one wheel is more like it.....i didn't anticipate the traction control messing with me so much. it would barely move in sand until i switched it off. then it would work PRETTY well, but still something kept taking away power..... i kept forgetting to switch it off every time i got back in....which resulted in the damage....but i DIDN"T get stuck once!....my goal was to get a picture looking down from top of comp hill, with van in foreground.....
