  1. Another useful weapon is a long handled hoe. Sharpen the edge and it's perfect for rattlers. You can kill em from 6 or 7 feet away.
  2. Hey Pete, check out this one too Mountain Light - Galen Rowell oops misspelled the link.
  3. I have nothing worth adding to this post!! - I have nothing worth adding to this post!! - x2
  4. that's the one cool thing about this bill... if the part of the river running down sperry wash and over the entrance road were left undesignated they could easily come back later and designate it wild/scenic later. in this bill that part of the river is being designated "recreational", once it is formally designated it can't be changed. there aren't many things in this bill that are even close to reasonable but this lil tidbit happens to be a pretty good deal.
  5. I loved it when they were trying to figure out how to get to Death Valley... I was yelling at the TV the fastest way to get there. I wonder how many people actually took 127 to DV junction instead of going all the way to Vegas and back??? I couldn't help but laugh at the guys that ended up going all the way over to Mojave.
  6. After i watched it i looked into buying the DVD but it said possible ship date of 05/19/09.
  7. No GPS location but it's on top of one of the hills at the south end of the finger dunes. Go past Toilet 3 towards the hill and you'll practically run right into the trail to the to cross.
  8. If there's no manual pump on either the injector pump or near the filters then you can have a helper crank the motor while you man the wrench and get the same effect. You may have to bleed the air from each injector line individually if it's really being a pain. Basically just crack open the flare nut on the line at the injector end, crank the motor over or pump till no more air comes out then tighten it back up. Sometimes if you stop pumping fuel before you tighten the line back up it can suck a little air back in just like bleeding your brakes if you're not holding the pedal down. Once it fires rev it up for a few seconds to blow any remaining air through the lines.
  9. This is the step up that Seth broke his wrist on when he cased it hard. How bout a flip?Flipping
  10. If he'd have gotten mucked out I would have to call error on his part... I find it really hard to believe that he didn't notice the trucks, or that he was crossing their line. Those ruts were deeeeeeep!
  11. Its lookin' a lil rough but what better for December?
  12. Too bad he didn't keep the front end off the ground all the way through..... The a$$ over tea kettle video would have been much more entertaining!
  13. It's all good, I know what you mean.... I actually like the way mine sounds now with the Two Brothers dual exhaust but it is a little on the loud side. I always thought Rhino's and all SxS's for that matter were stupid. But then my friend Paul from HDM brought his out to the dunes Memorial weekend in 07 and I got talked into driving it. I ended up driving it all weekend giving tons of people rides. I actually wish I would have gotten the commission on the 4 that were bought within a week by people that I took for a ride. I swore I would never buy one! About a month later I ended up doing just that.... They really are a blast to drive, not so much on the adrenaline rush side but just plain fun. I would recommend any SxS to anyone who is new to the sand. You learn how to actually navigate the dunes real quick when you don't have the power to just go anywhere you want. Much like the old school 1600cc VW buggies.
  14. Direct quote of the mods on the Teryx in the first video... "NeriStyle front seats and rear bench, Simpson belts, NeriStyle custom top. So Cal Fab Cage, Custom Motorsports gusset glate with cage mount. Velocity Air filter kit, AC Racing dual exhaust. EPI clutch kit with heavy duty belt. Machined clutch cap. WORKS shocks. AMS blacktail 29x9x12 front, SCAT 7 paddle extremes 26x12x12 rear. HID hi/lo headlamp conversion." He actually has more money into it than I would without long travel. A stock Teryx tops out at 48mph, a Rhino 42mph. I don't know concrete numbers on what the Teryx gets out of a clutch sheave and a cdi but common sense says it's going to be pretty comparable to what a Rhino gets out of the same mods. Sorry for the mistake in the number earlier, a whole 6mph....
  15. If I didn't have LT there'd be just as much money into it as is in mine, with one difference.... Maybe 5mph.
  16. When I built my Rhino I really wasn't planning on having it that long. I figured have some fun with it for a little while then after I saved the money build a buggy. Lets just say I got a little carried away. It is actually a hell of a lot of fun to drive, reliable and if it does break it wouldn't break the bank to fix it. Unless I can manage to blow up the motor or something.... knock on wood!!!
  17. Ask Chad George about racing a bone stock rhino in the unlimited modified class in perris... 2nd overall says a rhino will do damn near anything with a driver willing to do it.
  18. I have to say Rhino is better. I do have alot of money into mine but it can be a damn good duner for less. Intake, exhaust, cde, duner kit and paddles on offset wheels will get you around the dunes as fast as you want to go safely with a rhino. I took my full 4 seat LT rhino up comp this last week, Although I couldn't flop the peak it made it higher than most quads and buggies were going before turning. This was also at night so during the day it would probably be easier cause you can pick a better line. LT makes a HUGE difference no matter what you put it on and I highly recommend it for whatever you decide on.
  19. Are these the guys you were watching jump? they were mostly between comp and the southpole. On the Yamaha is my buddy Dustin Nowak aka Wacker for those of you that follow FMX and on the Honda was our friend Casey Dean aka Wiener lol. There's also a pic of my crew from Bishop at the .
  20. My group got to the dunes wed and left this morning. Interesting trip over as seen in my camera phone pic.... :ah: Always nice when you're heading for the dunes and there's reports of possible bad weather. Rolled into camp around 2:00 to awesome weather and had to have a nice relaxing cold one along with a big sigh of relief before setting up camp. Nice little cruise to check things out after that. Went out to a nearly empty comp and decided it was a good time to see if my Rhino would make it to the top. Almost had it on one run about 20 or 30 feet to go and zigged when I should have zagged and dug in to a stop. Had a bitchin' night ride after going back to camp to the North Pole with wet nearly smooth dunes. Thursday we took all the kids out to the North pole to send their letters to Santa, had some turkey and actually ended up parked right behind what I think was Pete's truck and undoubtedly cole with the mog. I'm a pretty shy guy and opted not to introduce myself but do want to apologize for my friends that felt they needed to shine their HID's at all of you while they played washers. I could tell a few of you were getting pissed and tried to get them to shut them off but didn't have any luck. Whatever the hell that white Duramax was running to go up the hill that fast has to be expensive. Awesome rides on Friday got to ride in a friends new LT car for a few runs up comp. Wow the top comes up quick!!! I've never gone up in a buggy before... Saturday brought more great rides and had fun watching the hill climbs then when the W came up it kinda put a damber on things. Ran to the hill for awhile and left cause the dust killed if for me. Next time out I'll have to quit being and introduce myself.

If Lesner put in the work to build up his endurance I think it will be a pretty close fight and who knows who will win.... If not Couture all the way!
  22. I've got both XM and Sirius too. Faction all day at work in the truck and Squizz all night at home... Now I get Faction all night at home! I've also got Sirius in the Rhino... Any of you XM peeps listened to Jason Ellis on Faction from noon to 4 yet? Ellis is WAY WAY WAY better than Stern. I tried listening to Stern when I first got Sirius and I practically fell asleep behind the wheel within 20 minutes. That definitely sucks they got rid of Stretch though, he had a pretty good show.
