Don29palms
Get over your self. it's a smilie He is your brother, right?, that is the? OK just for the record, Yo :B prez is half white. So let's go with the Prez. and his constituents want us, The American Citizens to send (and I quote) YOUR CASH! to their Haiti fund. I wonder what ADMINISTRATIVE costs are involved. Anytime there is a charity there are adminstrative costs to manage said charity. If you look at any charity's books you will find that a very small percentage of the money actually gets to the people it is suppose to benefit. This whole situation just makes me frustrated and mad. We have so many problems right here in our own country that the government has no clue how to solve so they think that the solution is to charge the american working class more money (higher taxes). The war in Iraq has and continues to cost billions of dollars. That region of the world has been at war since time began. This government is getting our people killed for no reason at all. We are imposing our way of government on someone else when they can't make it work in our own country. As far as Haiti goes let somone else take care of them. It's not our responsibility. They are already talking about "What are our long term plans for rebuilding Haiti?" That means the 100 million dollars pledged is just a miniscule amount of what they plan to spend. Can you say TAX HIKE? I am a very charitable person and try to make my donations where I think that they will benefit AMERICANS the most. If you spent your money how the government spends your money would you be broke very quickly? If you had a disaster in your town or state do you think that people from any other country would raise a finger to do anything to help you? Yes I am an @sshole! desertskyz
Update. Food and water is arriving in Haiti. Some people are stealing it from others and selling it on the black market. They are rioting and burning government buildings. Why do people do that. Get mad, because we are not giving them enough fast enough then making matters worse for themselves by looting, rioting, burning buildings, and stealing from those that are there to help. I will never understand that mentality. Oh well! I really don't care anymore.
desertskyz
are you mentally handicapped? i can care less if the president is black, white, yellow, brown, or whatever. i didn't vote for him. for once you start a thread that has merit. did you read above where i stated that i was apalled about the whole thing? and that was before obama got involved when it was initially just clinton. so why am i the only american in america that can't have an opinion, huh toots? my next post in this thread will get to my point, which was very clear, and don obviously understood it. i dunno why you can't. I imagine and would like to believe there are some people there with what we consider to be good values. It's sad to say but the lucky ones in that enviroment are already taken care of. They don't need food or water. Caged animals in a zoo have better living conditions than most of the people in Haiti. Only the strong survive in an anarchy. Toots? no temper at all, that's just me normal. i'm sicilian, i use toots and broad loosely, please don't take that in any offense, as those aren't words i intend to be disrespectful. back on topic: skyz, although we disagree on most everything.. i agree with your posts on the "relief effort." i choose not to follow up on the broadcasts anymore. everytime there's an update or a story, it's followed by "again, the president is urging you to send money." aceisback
see that big red heart below my handle ace, that's my love for you. Awww, now I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. OOPS, sorry, that's just my extra strength coffee kicking in. p.s.. alot of things have changed since the 60's. we don't commonly use "negro" anymore, just say "black" or "african american." Ne⋅gro –noun 1. Anthropology. a member of the peoples traditionally classified as the Negro race, esp. those who originate in sub-Saharan Africa: no longer in technical use. –adjective 2. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of one of the traditional racial divisions of humankind, generally marked by brown to black skin pigmentation, dark eyes, and woolly or crisp hair and including esp. the indigenous peoples of Africa south of the Sahara. 3. being a member of the black peoples of humankind, esp. those who originate in sub-Saharan Africa. Nowhere in there does it say we don't commonly use negro anymore. It's what they are. More white people have been on safari in Africa than these folks who call themselves "African-American" and they're not claimming any hyphenated distinction. I'm Scottish-Irish-French-Canadian but having never been to Scotland, Ireland, France, or Canada I just claim to be red blooded all AMERICAN by birth and Southern by the grace of God. And they're not Black, they come in many different shades from high yellow to red bone to black, hence "Colored". I just wish they'd make up their effin' minds so we could get the paperwork right. :DDR: Changes every three to five years on what they prefer to be called. desertskyz
Education is the key. Thanks for information. But it really does not matter what color they are, it is the lack of governmental integrity and the failure to build a strong infrastructure. I'll bet the leaders of that country aren't going without. However, next time something goes wrong in my part of this little world, I'm going to go loot and burn down something. But are the agency's running these charities any better? Send your money and we will spend it in (what they deem) a reasonable manner. So I send in $100 and the people of Haiti will get .50, maybe. Nice job. I do feel sorry for the kids though. As if things aren't bad enough for them.

high octane junkie
while flippin' channels i ended up on another newsbroadcast interviewing haitians.. it seems that they could use canned food, blankets, water, and physical treatment.. not one of them asked for some cash. i got a cabinet full of canned food i don't intend on using, some old blankets, and i wouldn't mind chipping in some water. i'd like to keep my money in the bank, and apparently the three stooges want me to keep my old blankets and food as well. Raptor0206
If we could find a president that would end this stupid war that should of ended after they didn't find any nukes, we would be better off. If we could find a president that wouldn't give money out to OTHER countries we would be better off. If we could find a president that would give his or her OWN money before asking for ours, we would be better off. Lets put it this way i work as security here in vegas, a few days before the new year i found out some not so good info, going to work on new years was one of the hardest things i have ever done....and im gonna just leave it at that. We need a president that will keep his attention on the USA instead of the rest of the damn world, and im not talking about frickin heath care!
