We pulled in last night and had some cool, but nice weather. @sandmandan, @Josh Weber, Gary, and @tmerrell we're already here and set up for the weekend. We had some good laughs around the fire. Buggy Roundup is underway and looking great so far. There's probably only 5 other camps out here. The sand is a little damp but not wet. Should be a nice weekend!5 points

Haven't even stopped in the dunes! Too busy rallying and tearing them up before the New Year's crowds roll in! Surprisingly there's more camps out here then in the year's passed. There was less people for buggy round up. Still nicely empty! There's shelve every where and witches eyes from the W that blew Weds and Thurs. And the dunes are completely different from two weeks ago! Friday and Saturday where cool and the nights were chilly! Today it's sunny and 66. The people that are here came to ride, so there's already some tracks mixed in with fresh untouched sand. Been chillin in camp visiting, watching movies and playing games in between dune rallys! Love this relaxing week at Dumont!5 points

The weekend is starting off great. I pulled in around 4PM yesterday and although it was 95 degrees on my truck thermometer, the light breeze has kept things really nice. The dunes are perfect. We went out for a dune run with a few of the buggies and laid it down. We've been waiting all year for these conditions and the dunes are finally dry, smooth, and there are some fun fast lines. I am up and at it this morning taking advantage of the nice cool weather and epic sunrise.5 points

Drove in yesterday evening around 6pm. The water is getting high over the concrete due to people blocking off a large pool right next to it so I'm gonna bring a shovel over later and fix it so it flows again and the road doesn't wash away.** **I've been informed the BLM made the pool so I will leave it alone** There are maybe 7 rigs out here total right now. It's a beautiful day!! Maybe 6mph breeze, sunny, and nice at 9:30am. Last night was extremely windy so the dunes look crazy sharp. Check out the pics!4 points

Merry Christmas from Dumont! I hope you all had a great time! Today was a good day with some dune grooming. Not too crazy, just enough to smooth out the lighter tracks. We spent most of the day kicking back with Christmas movies, like Krampus and making cookies, then riding in the afternoon. JoeDuner arrived later in the afternoon and we went for another run. Then it was back to the home for a full spread of ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, stuffing, broccoli and pie. Now that the gluteny is over it's time for cocktails by the fire!4 points

I woke up this morning to the sound of a strong breeze. Just as I opened the door and looked outside at the sun coming up from the horizon, my collapsible trash can decided it wanted to go duning. I wish I had a GoPro on or someone was filming me because it had to look hilarious. I was full sprint, running after it as it rolled about 20 mph toward the finger dune. I hoped it would slow down when it got there but instead the turbo must have spooled up because it took off! I was within 10 feet of it the whole time. I ran about 3/4's of the way up the dune before I gave up. It was cruising! I hopped in the sandcar to go looking for it but it was nowhere to be found. It's probably in Baker by now. So if anyone finds a beige, collapsible trash can please let me know. There's your morning dune report. Other than that it's gorgeous out here. So anyways, it's a little breezy. There are about 4 camps total and the dunes are great in some spots and still funky as hell in others. I might be turning my paddles around because it's still pretty damp. We'll see. I might just take it easy.4 points

Put a pork butt in the smoker for tonight's dinner. Went on a morning run to the North Pole. It's cold and it's windy! Sand is wet, but fun. Returned to camp in icy windy conditions and Mike and Steve Installed my power steering on the Maverick. WOW what a difference that makes Right back on another ride, wheelies and jumps. The dunes are a weird combo of wet dry... And look spotted. No time for photos all tucked up in line behind Mike with an X3 running up my tailpipe. Sadly someone already picked up the santa letters, so no traditional reading of the letters tonight Hope whoever took them at least read them and enjoyed hearing what the kiddos wanted! Ok... Update here are some photos of the weird wet dry dunes..4 points

First post and First trip to Dumont... Knocking it all out at once. I want to give a huge shout out to everyone who has posted on this forum. I felt like I've been camping out there my whole life with the info I've been able to get from this forum. With Ocotillo being closed I needed a new desert home. Never been much of a duner but I am a complete convert now. After moving to Vegas from SoCal several years ago I'm kicking myself for continually making the haul down south when I had this slice of heaven only 2 hours away. Took the Wife and son out from Wed the 16th to the 20th. Few people out camping. Weather was absolutely beautiful. It being my first trip to Dumont I don't have much to compare to but coming from Johnson Valley and Ocotillo camping it was heaven. Woke up Thursday to some nice clouds which opened up to beautiful skies. A little breezy on Thursday but that was the only day worth noting the wind. Sand was smooth as glass and provided for an amazing first experience. Can't wait to get back out in a couple of weeks. I look forward to many many many more trips in the near future. Sorry no riding pics though... I couldn't think about anything besides how much fun I was having. -Mike3 points

Love being out here Christmas week. After sitting in the moho most of the morning, we finally uncovered the vehicles and cruised the dunes. Hit up the swing set and cruised to the South Pole. Today its quiet and cloudy, we had a slight sprinkle, now it is just cloudy. Time to chill with a movie and a cocktail.3 points

It's been an awesome couple of days. Today it's nice and sunny. Yesterday it was cold and had a chilly breeze. We enjoyed a Christmas eve dinner and traditional It's a Wonderful Life and then some Christmas cheer of cocoa with peppermint vodka by the fire. This morning was our traditional Christmas breakfast before heading out in a run. There is a snowy mountain backdrop making the dunes even prettier. The dunes are still wet, but they are drying out, we have left some pretty good lines the last couple days3 points

Well you know what they say.... A rainy day at Dumont is still better than any day at work! The rain came rolling through at 12:20 am, and didn't stop until 5:30 am. This apparently signaled our dog pack that it was time to get up!! So if you are heading out to Dumont, just turn around... It's all wet! ;P Currently it's just cloudy and cold and freakin early, but not raining. A few more camps rolled in, in the night. There's probably about 20 or so out here now... 3 New ones that I can see from my window. Hopefully the rain is done for now. Time for more coffee!3 points

I LOVE Dumont in December. These weekends are the best. Empty, smooth dunes and great weather! There's a nice cloud cover and the temperature is cool. We're taking our time this morning, sipping our coffee before we head out into the sand. No rush. It's a nice and relaxing day so far. Buggy Roundup 4 is shaping up to be a great weekend. We already have about 16 rigs in camp but have plenty of room for everyone.3 points

We watched the water pumpers put on a great show for awhile and then went on a super crowded tore up dune run. Still fun. You just need to keep your eyes open out there everyone! We had a couple close calls, but Mike always pays super close attention, a few dunes ahead. Everyone stay safe and watch out for others!3 points

Its a beautiful slightly breezy Saturday morning. Up before the sunrise. The W blew a little last night, making for smooth rippley dunes this morning. Chilling in camp, breakfast and coffee done, getting a jump start on homework for next week, while I wait for the first ride of the day. The sun is out in a beautiful blue sky. The dunes are so smooth you'd never think Thanksgiving was just 2 weeks ago. These are like summertime with weird stuff everywhere...drop offs and shelves where rollers usually are. @sandmandan and I put a small beating on them this morning and we layed some tracks down, but it'll take a couple more runs to get some lines burned in. Don't worry. We'll handle it. 👌 The weather is great and there's only 3 other small camps here but us. Looking forward to seeing everyone for Buggy Roundup 5! Let's do this.2 points

Dunes are a little damp as of about 7pm on a Friday. Rain is supposedly coming tonight. It is very windy tonight although. Still nice enough to ride!! It's not all that bad, I've rode in worse. Don't let it keep you from coming. Saturday the wind will calm down and hopefully just a light rain2 points
