  1. I just picked up my new trailer today so it will be a couple of days until I have time to do it but I will. Thanks for the interest! Pat
  2. [.JPG] This should give people an idea of what it is like if there is interest. It will be cleaned up and put back to how it should be if purchased. Thanks, Pat
  3. I bought a new Toy Hauler finally. What I have is an affordable 26 ft. Pull behind unit. It is a 98 Wilderness.I will be asking $5,000 for it and I will take pictures tomorrow and post them. It would be perfect for two 2 four people. It has 13 ft. of space for your toys and a quad would fit in the kitchen section as I have done. It has a generator that works perfectly, an AC that works also. I have made a lot of modifications to the trailer that made it perfect for me to live in and use to go to Dumont and Idaho for the summer. It has e rated 15" tires on it that's are nearly new and a d rated spare. It also has a Direct TV antenna crank up, on the roof as well as a regular crank up antenna. I have installed a lot of extra storage cabinets in the rig. If you are at all interested at all, pm me and I will explain everything. It also has a new awning and everything in this unit works. I also have two awnings on the side windows to help in the sunny heat use. the pictures will show a table on the left side but I have a nearly new dinette set that I will put in prior to any sale that will give you an extra bed. Perfect for a small family that hasn't got a lot of money to spend. It looks pretty good and has been taken really good care of in the many years I have owned it. I am a hobbyist mechanic and do all the maint. on it constantly, as I am now retired. Oh, a couple of years ago I replaced all the leaf springs and once a year pack the bearings.
  4. Don't quote me on this but I think the tower is north of the Dumont Cutoff. We camp on the bluff so we have a line of site up towards the north. We have never had any issues with Verizon from our spot on the bluff, as long as we locate just past the fee station.
  5. OK, I think I would like to come to see old friends maybe take a slow ride in the Wildcat and have a good time. Will there be anyone there to help change my depends? Cook for me? Buy my gas? and a Body Guard to help me keep the ladies from taking advantage of an old man? Come on Terry, lets do it since we are the same age!
  6. Possible revenue from 150 camping units @ $40 =$6000. Assume half had permits or season passes and that is enough to do something for Dumont. I figure about 3-4 people per unit and that's nearly 1000 people enjoying the dunes.
  7. Thanks Steve. I'm trying to find the article and the donation page that was started when he was injured so badly!
  8. In reference to the comment: "Thankfully no fatalities or severe burns yet" There was a burn victim at St. Anthony Dunes this year and the victim was sent to the Burn Unit in Salt Lake City and has a recovery time of about 3 months. Several people on this forum were there and know of this incident.
  9. I didn't know that was a possibility. If it is a free week or weekend wouldn't some LEO coverage be expected because of expected increase in useage? Yes we did see the two young men talking to some, for a limited amount of time each of the weekend days but if is a free weekend why was that? I know.....
  10. OK, If you don't like my rants then time to check out another post. First off I appreciate that BLM has finally done something about the entrance road! We'll see if they know how to maintain it. We counted about 500 camps during the weekend. As you should know by now, my group camps on the bluff right above the Fee Station. The BLM office in Barstow, still hasn't got it, as it pertains to collecting fees on a fairly busy weekend. We arrived on Tuesday prior to the weekend and watched as people came in. Is it any surprise that no one was there to check for passes. No big thing as they can be found out as they exit after an enjoyable stay at "Our Dunes". We saw no Law Enforcenent the entire week or weekend. We did see, on two occations, a BLM fire fighter come by for a bit to chat with the two young guys that showed up. Are they volunteeers or maint? What ever, they did do some sign work while they were there. That took at least a couple of hours. The pace was typical of someone that works for BLM. Use your imagination on what I mean by that. During the weekend they did spend at least a couple of hours a day talking to folks coming in or leaving. As I see it they were there to do a job but when you get there after most of the visitors have left in the morning or leave before the afternoon visitors, see that they are gone, and leave without having to purcahse a pass. This is getting long so I will close with; How come Barstow BLM is crying about getting money to operate efficiently at Dumont? Why Terry has about had his fill of trying to work with them to improve Dumont and help the uneducated operate a money making site. We did watch as a family come to the fee area with several vehicles and spun dounuts on the road, several more people riding on the road, resulting in damage with their paddle tires on the road. Why don't people understand at BLM that unwatched visitors they will do whatever they want to do since there is no one there to stop, or inform that they are idiots. I don't know if I feel better or not to post this, or if BLM will see this, or they even care. Those of us that love Dumont will still come but...............Wake UP BLM Barstow!
  11. It's the second time I have sold a sand rail I had spent years getting perfect for me. A gentleman from Salt Lake City saw my rail at IDRV 2 years ago and wanted to buy it after seeing a picture of it this year. Since I had bought the new Artic Cat Wildcat 1000 X this year I figured....why not sell it. The "Cat" is fun and does run like a rail so....I did it. It left for Salt Lake City today. If I remember correctly I did this once before, and within a year I missed a rail so bad I ended up purchasing another one. We'll have to see what happen this time. I can see a Turbo on the wildcat to help it out with the money I got for the rail. That should help me not miss a sand rail as much. As I might have said before, I haven't had a rail since 1978 that wasn't turbo charged. Why not keep the thing (turbo power) I enjoy? The next few months should be interesting.
  12. "Rapaman" You are da Man! This may well solve my problem for an expenditure I can afford. Thank You so much. Pat
  13. I've wanted to get a newer toy hauler for several years, since mine is a 98 model. I have spent a lot of time over the years getting this old girl set up perfectly for me and my needs. The only real issue that is a pain in the butt is the flat roof. Every time it rains the water puddles up around the air conditioner and starts to leak. I have to go out and lower the front jacks to let the water run off and tighten the bolts that secure the AC. Other than that it serves it's purpose, for me. I looked at a newer model at a show this weekend and it was $25,000 and constructed so cheaply that I decided it just isn't worth it to me to buy a new one. With some simple maintenance. I would be able to keep mine if I could find a way to crown the roof without adding too much weight to the rig. Does anybody know of something like this being done before?
  14. Responsible parents watch their (kids) at all times. They also don't let young people operate equipment unsupervised. Friends watch friends for possible stupid choices. They don't throw back another beverage and laugh like hell as it starts. Usually turns out being a statistic Show some "Nads" and look out for each other! P.S. A "Kid' is determined by ability, intelligence and upbringing....... not just age!
  15. Never give on up on our usual spot. Will always have a toy and a love of Dumont trips and my friends.
  16. No I am not going to "Pull my POST. Been there done That! LMAO
  17. They are in good hands with Sandcrab!
  18. Well......it happened again! One of my campers put a s pare gas tank in the back of his(borrowed) 2015 RZR, He tied it down and thought it was secure. Long story shortened, can leaks, fire started and luckily no injuries this time. A you saw one of my regular campers wasn't so lucky. He is the burn unit in Salt Lake with 40% of his body having 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Major damage to his face. I have already ordered my Rotopak 2 gal container with solid mount. Just waiting for it to get here. If your too dumb to listen, then wear a fire suit and have a fire extinguisher system installed. You might make it though a fire that starts so fast it's very difficult to get out of the car in time! Burnt to the ground I didn't see the other post about this....How did you find out so fast? flavtfan
  19. If you would quit passing gas while on a run it would run 10-15 degrees cooler you old fart...... Damned rear engine cars! Oh and at your age, "Never, Ever Trust a fart"! See ya soon!
  20. So sorry to hear. He actually went on a ride with the old Host Don and I one day several years ago. That old codger could ride and loved the sand. He was a true example for those of us that are older that it can and should still be done. He will be missed by many! RIP Don.
  21. Since I am in Idaho for the summer I can't do anything with the rail. I would not accept $4500 for the rail but thanks for asking.
  22. Sure would love to see some of my Dumont "Peeps" show up at ST. Anthony Dune's RV. We will have a BLAST"
