  1. Yup, leaving on this coming Sunday for Idaho Dunes. Can't wait! Love this weather but add 10 more degrees and I'm done. Put a fork in me.
  2. Girls, Pizza, Summer in Idaho, Retirement....You name it and I have an opinion. LMAO Just tried Bourbon and Ginger Ale, not bad! Oh one more thing. If BLM would get a qualified grader operator the road would be 5-10 feet wider! :-)
  3. More Signs? Existing signage. 25 mi. an hour on entrance road, no fireworks, no pallets or nails, no glass bottles, this area off limits etc. etc. How are they working?
  4. "if you have a stock cage do yourself and your family and friends and get an aftermarket cage. These stock cages are garbage" . . . I just don't think the engineers for the stock cages are building them for anything but a "Roll Over". I'm also not sure even an aftermarket cage would have saved the man that was killed. Are aftermarket cages better? I'm sure they are but there are so many other variables. What would happen if you dropped 1000 plus pounds from 2 stories high on the top of any cage? Plus the forward speed and angle of impact etc. etc. Just my opinion and I know all about "everybody has one" when talking about opinions. I too am sorry it happened!

  6. News to follow! It will be awesome news. I just have to wait a couple of days to post!
  7. They had them. They just didn't like you like they did me! I did miss your bottle jack, your support and the waffles. :-)
  8. Looked so good to me that I'm in the process right now. With the long drives back and forth to Idaho I thought it a good idea! I'm old so just one side a day!!LMAO Getting up and down took me longer than the labor to install it!
  9. Find me a rich lady that is deaf, dumb, blind, oversexed, has no teeth and owns a liquor store and the job is yours!
  10. If you paint cars and want a cash side job let me know. I will provide all materials. I need the front of my truck prepped and clear coated. The Current non damaged portion does not have to be stripped! (From the manufacturer). It just needs to be feathered out in a couple of small areas and scuffed up prior to re coating. Having access to a spray booth would be great. Let me know Thanks, Pat
  11. Hopefully a bunch of people will write or call people. I did and I never got a response. Maybe others will have more luck!
  12. I agree with the road comment. I posted t his earlier in the week! "Oh, since I'm on a roll. Why and the hell can't they hire a grader operator that knows what they are doing. I watched a grader operator spend over an hour trying to cover up a "Worm" right next to our camp site. Also why in the Hell can't they grade and water down the entrance road a couple of days before Friday for those of us that purchase yearly passes and have to drive in on a road that is a 10 or 15 MPH road but the Friday people can cruise in at 25 plus MPH?" For those that saw a post I made a while back that I wrote an e-mail to the State Of California person in charge of Dumont......I never got any reply! Yup Terry, no response as you predicted. I better sign off now as I am getting so worked up on what is going on with Dumont and a lot of other off road areas that we should be entitled to use without all the B.S. Time for a drink! I'm fed up with what is going on at Dumont!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I have a 2006 Rhino 660 that has been taken good care of and remains basically stock. It does have HID headlights, CID, Stereo, 4 point seat belts stronger clutch kit half windshield and I'm sure more I don't remember. Sand tires with custom wheels, stock tires with custom wheels and on other set of nearly new stock tires on stock wheels. It has a soft top and custom paint. Also has aftermarket heavy duty fenders . Priced to sell fast at $5200. I just put $1100 in the motor to rebuild the top end. Bottom end checked out just fine. Work done by PMS Motorsports in Idaho. Just ordered my new 2014 Wildcat x 1000 so price is reduced to sell.............Help a poor old man out!
  14. Adam, A couple of folks attended the last meeting in Barstow. Rocket is a retired Law Enforcement Officer and when he tried to make suggestions or just share some ideas he was shut down. He was respectful and is a caring Duner. He left with a sour taste in his mouth the way he was treated. They don't even want to listen when we are there. Rocket drove from Orange County Calif and I was there from Vegas as was Terry. Even Terry is about to give up on trying to save Dumont for those of us that are willing and able to help! So how many folks have been to a meeting, as you say is needed, regardless of how many subjects are addressed?
  15. sted Today, 05:08 PM I have to add something! First.... I'm super happy they weren't hurt worse than they were. I monitor a "scanner" when I'm at Dumont and happened to be listening when the Air flight was trying to get patient information while in bound @ 21 minutes out. I heard them ask three times for a patient up date. 21 minutes out, 5 minutes out and 4 minutes out. The radio communication was horrible and the Rangers/Sheriff didn't appear to be able to hear the aircraft. I heard it fine with my scanner. I'm not positive but I don't think the medic got the info he had been requesting until Flight was on the ground. Not good if they are to be prepared to treat a victim before they arrive especially if there is a critical injury. Since they didn't do a "Hot Load", meaning the injury was critical and they rush to get off the ground to beat the "Golden Hour" to the medical facility, I had to assume that the gentleman and his daughter were going to be OK. What hurts me is that I am "Cop Friendly" and had a very close friend that used to be assigned to Dumont from the Needles Office of BLM. No more and I don't know why. If I had to give the majority of law enforcement a review for their service this Presidents weekend I would score them about a 4 or 5 out of 10. There have been so many negative changes in the last 2 years I just don't know where Dumont is headed but I am just about ready to tell BLM that I would never again purchase a yearly pass with holidays. No more discount for early purchase, non support of the annual Clean Up....etc.....etc.....etc. Another point. Who is running Dumont now? The San Bernardino Sheriffs Office or BLM. Any chance BLM is monitoring DDR for input, I doubt it!! At least Larry Blaine used to work for us and look at our site since he understood that Dumont furnished most or at least a good portion of their operating budget. Oh, since I'm on a roll. Why and the hell can't they hire a grader operator that knows what they are doing. I watched a grader operator spend over an hour trying to cover up a "Worm" right next to our camp site. Also why in the Hell can't they grade and water down the entrance road a couple of days before Friday for those of us that purchase yearly passes and have to drive in on a road that is a 10 or 15 MPH road but the Friday people can cruise in at 25 plus MPH? I'm fed up with what is going on at Dumont!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited by sandawg, Today, 05:21 PM. LIFE'S JOURNEY TO THE GRAVE SHOULDN'T BE WITH THE INTENTION OF ARRIVING IN A WELL PRESERVED BODY, BUT RATHER TO SKID IN BROADSIDE, THOROUGHLY USED UP, TOTALLY WORN OUT, AND LOUDLY SHOUTING, HOLY SH*T.....WHAT A RIDE !
  16. For any good that it might do here is my submission to the Calif Desert BLM Supervisors. Can someone please help me to understand all of the recent changes in how Dumont Dunes is being operated. I understand there is a new manager in the Barstow office. Is she being directed in a direction that should lower the usage and increase all of the complaints I am hearing and seeing in the last two seasons. It would appear to me that the increase of revenue from users would be a benefit yet changes have been made that discourage that. all I hear is the way the LEO's are being directed. The total lack of coverage on off weekends and a heavy hand when they are there. I just don't understand the direction it is going. Can some please tell me what is going on and why? Respectfully, Pat XXXXXXX Henderson Nevada
  17. OK, time to communicate with the supervisory chain of command. Who is her direct boss? Who is that persons direct boss and so on. If it's the only way to get the word out then lets do it!
  18. Terry, I hope to Gawd that you don't quit ! At least you have an opportunity to talk to her directly in the meetings and attempt to bring her back into reality and away from the "Book" that tells her every decision to make. In time, things just might change for the better. In todays governmental agency structure there is room for improvement and a change at the "Top" is eminent. It may be time to start contacting our representatives that may interested in starting to protect our rights and investigate sub par management in their respective responsibilities. Hang in there Bud we need your help!
  19. You never said why the person got checked pulling into your camp. Was it someone that just got there or someone in a toy that was already there? At the prices of the fines do you really think it about money? Are there that many tickets even given out unless it's a DUI or weapons or unsafe operation or something of that nature. Also were these officers BLM or San Bernardino Sheriffs Deputies. With some level of experience working alongside law enforcement...believe me there are an awful lot of possibilities for finding "probable cause" for a stop. Even more when your on Federal or State Land, if I'm not mistaken. The system is nowhere near perfect or will it ever be for some people but the alternatives might not be better. For example I saw a story on the New York City Police Commissioner this morning and the police in New York can stop anyone they want to and frisk them. Statistics: Before this policy they had 3000 murders a year in the city. This year it will be under 400.
  20. When did they start taking "Cash" for the passes. I was under the impression that only a Credit or Debit card was able to be used in the machines and no body was allowed to take cash for a pass. The reason for no cash in the machines is due to the probable vandalization / theft to / of the machines.
