  1. Thats just it, this is doing nothing.....a vin with no title is nothing. Im going to take my little vw powered homemade rail, a chinese 50cc quad, a 50 cc pit bike, and my daughter 8 volt power wheels quad and her new rangerover powerwheels jeep and ask for vins at the dmv. She rides them off road, they were never intended to be on hiway vehicles......this should get good. Im gonna ask for a supervisor and a writen and noterized reason why they wouldnt issue a vin to a plastic toy for the rangers, so I could get my offroad sticker. I think I might even video it.....its all about revenue anyways....since they wont give titles so they should vin a folding chair with a blender motor if ask just to make a buck.
  2. This is sorta ridiculous, the club car site has many models....but apparently most are governed to 13 mph , now with an option of 19 mph for club cars. The rzr 170.....might be a problem, apparently its 30 ish....People gps 30 +- 2 to 4 mph.....If people are actually getting 30 -34 out of them I bet they advertise atleast that considering they would use the best possible conditions.

  5. It can be tuned out. At this point its probably about fixed though. I know when I have dealt with it, I used the alignment tool when putting it together on the side of the trans. The dash lights should come on either way, and if you get it in nuetral (indicated) it should turn over. If it doesnt there may be another problem.
  6. what motor is that? looking for a lot of power i assume? I run those sometimes and they do very well.
  7. Pete, that sounds like their style of education.....now for the revenue....... Its not far away, but at some point the rangers wont show up for work. When their pay checks bounce I doubt they will be out much. Its pretty funny really, that they cant see that when people dont show up, they wont be needed. They are gonna work themselves out of their jobs, just like so many others.

  9. Yea I have a small shop. I ve been doing turbo stuff since buick grand nationals. Infact Bert.....if your reading.....drop off my throttle body. You can come by anytime, lots of different projects going on all the time. Pm me a ph number and Ill text you so you can stop by. Current projects are a twin turbo lsx g35.....big single in a 57....and about half a dozen lsx engine builds.
  10. Yes, any turbo company can call anything they sell anything they want. The disco potato comes to mind. Turbonetics also sells a" stage three" turbo....there isnt actually a stage three turbo.....theres just a box a parts that every turbo company puts together to get their desired effect. A t4 exhaust housing could have any number of shafts in it, any number of compressor housings, even the t4 exhaust housing change from tangential to on center, with all other things being the same. You could have two identical to4's and just the change from on center to tang does change the turbo.(tang makes slightly more power). T4 is mearly the bolt pattern designation of teh exhaust housing. to4b is different but not entirely specific. It designates a wheel or trim but does not designate ar ratio of either the compressor or the turbine. So even then you could have 10 or 20 different combinations. I have a few turbos on the shelves and few apart if you ever want to stop by and see what I mean. You can also get into the debate of weather you should run a divided housing or not. I use to run open housings, because they do support more power, but with the advent of the quick spool valve, you can up size the turbo significantly with no down side in drivability. Turbo companies dont care about that though because most turbo set ups make enough power anyways and they sell turbos. You said it yourself, their ad says.......t3/t4. Its a t3 exhaust housing so it uses a t3 bolt pattern, with a list of possible compressors and turbines that they use in their t4 exhaust housing turbos, but they squeeze it into a t3 housing. Thats why all the choices. And thats just what they sell. Every other turbo maker is getting their own wheels made now, and still trimming and clipping and milling and boring. There are literally 1000's of possible t4 turbos.
  11. I got my little vw rail from a friend that died. Do you think I can submit the death certificate? Oh yea, let me dig that bill of sale up from 1982....... Even if you get a vin.......what good does it do with no title? All it really means is that you paid some fees made up by an a-hole to get a sticker. This is nothing, just nothing in reality. It changes nothing, and does nothing productive. Sure the idea was good, but all was lost in implementation.
  12. Where did it happen? In an above post they were on their way back from comp? It sounds like they were not in the valley on the way back? I didnt even know this happened, but I did post about what do the rangers do? Well, they were out early sunday with early morning riders (looking for a less crowded ride time ie safer) looking for infractions. The funny part is, that even if they were their, almost nothing would have changed. They would have used their rail instead of the duners......Why dont we lobby for 1 or 2 two rangers or sheriffs, and the rest of the staff as medical? Wouldnt that be in the users best interest? One of the things that bothers me, is that its rare if ever that anyone looks at why and how an incident occures and how could the injuries be avoided or diminished. Its hard to remember , but you dont need to be safe for what you ll do, most of the time. You need to be safe for what the unknown will do to you.
  13. I was just reading on pirate 4x4.....there is a nv guy that the dmv wants notorized bills of sales from each of the the previous three owners to issue him a title. It starts off as a good idea......then politics and red tape get to it and ruin it. Everyone says "yea but that way stolen stuff will be tracable" That would be a huge benefit but what I ve seen from law enforcement with a lot more money at stake is that they have no want or need to solve any case regarding stolen property. Thats a waist of their time, it doesnt pay. They simply impound the accidentally found items, then buy the good ones themselves at auctions no one ever hears about. I was personally involved in a home robbery investigation, that we found our own stuff, set up a "buy" of the items and the henderson pd where unbelievably incompetent. The thief latter got picked up ......and is currently doing time. Finding anyones stolen stuff has no money in it, like writing tickets for a flag, a light or sticker.
  14. Isnt the only way to get a nv ohv sticker is to get a vin inspection or get a vin assigned? How did he get a sticker with no vin?
  15. whoa.....I havnt had to get into this, but I thought they were doing titles again? You mean you got a vin assigned but they still dont do a title? I just got my boy a new blaster (with title) but havnt been anywhere with it yet. It was his Christmas present. I thought I d be able to get a new title in my name on it? I thought I read that cali was not recognizing the nv ohv sticker? I did just read faq's and it said any state that has a ohv program would recognize the nv sticker. So when I get new stickers....I can just get nv stickers and NOT get CA stickers. Right?
  16. t3 and t4 are only the exhuast housing bolt pattern. There are 1000's of each turbo. An option is always e85 now for fuel which dramatically cuts the cost of operation. Besides needing control of the injection you need tuning ability of the ignition to do it right. If you want reliable, look at intercooling , and (water/math) or straight water. I run 91 octane up to 14 psi on 10 to 1 engines....but I ve been doing it a long time.
  17. Keep in mind Ive never had a run in with them Ive never been targeted. Ive never even met one that I didnt go up to first. But once we had three lost kids from our camp, and the rangers said, "not our job, check with the sheriff cause our radios dont talk to each other".......I tried to check with the sheriff and got the run around. It was like the blind retard leading the pack. Anyways, Ive been going to dumont for 15 years or so, and I dont know if I ve ever seen a ranger or a sheriff actually help someone. Ive been broken down out there many times, and not one has ever offered help, not even a ride back to camp. Of all the accidents I ve witnessed Ive never seen any actually do anything. Sure secure the scene.....keep people away, but never seen one actually help someone, its always been wait for someone else. Ive seen countless fellow duners help carry an injuried person, give rides, give a tow, etc etc etc etc......but other than watch rangers and sheriffs pull people over, harass people trying to be safe, and the occasional illegal search, I cant say I ve ever seen them do any good. If the peoples safety was really the issue, why wouldnt thel majority of the staff be medical crews? Theres probably milliions of dollars in equipment out there but they still call for an ambulance? This morning a sunday morning, me and my boy were out at comp and banshee hills, basically alone. I would guess probably 30 people in all the dunes, but there was a ranger in a razor (20k $ plus ranger spec mods) and then a ranger in a ford truck too......for probably another 50k plus ranger spec mods? Plus fuel, salary......for what? To check on those 30 people? To make sure they are ok? Or to fill the spot that someone ok'ed to get more ot and right a few tickets? Is there any wonder why california is the worst run state in the union.
  18. I was on my way , going thru pahrump when I found out that the rest of my group had decided to not go. They had trailer tire problems and some other issues. So we ended up camping near the third finger dune, just south of # 6. Overall it was a good trip, but not without issues....issues that I had no control over. (other duners....and the ranger, another thread) My boy rode his (new to him blaster) and seized the piston.....in the new motor on friday evening. On sat I took it apart, and with a piece of plywood I polished the piston.....till my daughter found a small piece of emery cloth on vendors row. Then with about 2 hrs of polishing, I carefully working the two stuck rings free, then cleaned up the ring lands, and then got the rings back on. Then I polished the cylinder, then promptly dropped the wrist pin c clip in the crank case. I could not get it out, so I wheeled it out the back of the trailer and flipped the entire quad upside down. I gave up......then I saw it sitting on the trailer rear door. Got it back in, then about 12 minutes later it was buttoned up and running again. I rode it a few times from sat, and today and its running good.....real good. Better then our other one and better then it ran before the siezing incident. So alls good.....and Ill break in in a bit more between now and the next trip so it wont happen again. No money spent. Our little vw rail got a new motor on weds....so it was out just to see how it was gonna go. And I have an oil leak to fix....but it runs fine for a fun little rail. Me and my boy (7) went to comp this am. I figured no one would really be there, and I was right. So we talked and practiced riding the hill, and banshee alittle. We went back to comp about 9 am. There were three guys on quads there for a few minutes then just us with a ranger watching back in the flat in his razer. A guy on a bike pulls up and I think a woman on a quad. They rode the hill then were sitting about 40 ft away from us. Only us four at the hill. The ranger comes over to them, starts with small talk, then goes on about checking there stickers. Now Im sorry, but after seeing this unfold and the rangers tatic, and my experience last trip out at the ranger station....I hope they all up and get fired and they can kiss my a$$. I dont even break any laws and I d personally like to see things be a lot safer, but the rangers and the sheriff have nothing to do with my safety or yours, all they are is just like every other leo in the world and a monkey to collect $ for someone with more power. The other issue was the unbelievable driving by everyone in camp. I had probably 100 people drive with in 30 ft of the front of out trailer, probably 200 with in 100ft. I cant believe so many people do it....and probably 5 were going 15 mph or less. There was plenty of room too, everywhere...... I did throw the ball for the dog and almost hit a quad rider (he ducked or it would have) and I think Im going to continue to play ball with the dog, and maybe bring baseballs. I figure if your close enough for me to hit you.......your probably to close. As for the new years.....well it seemed pretty thin out there. I did see the ranger station and all the money that has been spent there and I suspect that a few more years of this and fewer and fewer people and ill get my wish and it will become a ghost town via funding.

  20. Is there any rule regarding pulling a trailer behind a quad or sxs? With the side x side rules coming...I started wondering... Would it be legal to pull a trailer behind a quad (or sxs) that held people? Obviously it couldnt dune....but for all the poeple (woman and kids) that tool around the flats, go to other camps, and cruise to vendors row, would it be legal to ride in a trailer or on a trailer? Say something that you sit on like a quad(helmet), (straddle) with hand hold bars. Or something with seats(and would it require a helmet)....and some old atv tires? Were talking 10 mph stuff here.....
  21. Ive had mine for around 14 years.....it was used when I got it. Its piped and jetted. Ive rebuilt the carbs once.....Riddened every year....and Im 220 lbs and I ride it pretty hard, either on or off....mostly on....Still running strong, I race 450's all the time, and have been waiting for years to rebuild it, but never have, not even once.
  22. I purchased a bed liner system cause I have lots of things I can use it on. Today I tried it out for the first time. It went great and it looks great. I did black first because I was doing a water tank, Then did tan on top of the black. I didnt want light gettting in to the water, or the sun beating the plastic . Im gonna do the entire samurai and many other things.....that are waiting. Other then the mess of dealing with it it worked great.

  24. if you want a real world number (and esspecially if your turboed) go to dougs dyno. 702-336-2275 If you want sand horsepower pick any of the others in town. Dougs is a mustang dyno and for tuning he can load it.....Ie hold any rpm you want. Hell also do it for free if you can put down 1000whp. or more.
