  1. overweight.......pig. 425 hp....that dynos.....340-360.....for 50k......= not fast. If you like the car cool, I m glad they made it, and like the car, but 13 mpg......thats what they got in 1970.....
  2. I wonder what the outcome was? It would be pretty hard to even get th truck, disconnected and out. If it was moving out, they would sink the truck too.
  3. Dam, and I swim out there once a week for training. Never even seen a fish a boulder beach. We swim the bouy line for ironman training.
  4. wow, those are expesive injectors. The cummins 370 injectors (which can make around 600 hp) run about 300 new for all 6. DDP 4's that I got used cause they never go bad anyways, are around 800 for a set of 6 new. Takes about 1 hr to change them all. A friend was telling me that he thought his 6.0 as leaking fuel from the injector into the cooling system through a sleeve around the injector? Later he thought that it might be a bad head? Sounded strange to me. He still hasnt fixed it, and is still driving it, with a lot of diesel in the radiator.

    2010 Camaro

Its a POS. I hate to say it but GM missed the mark . Its a PIG. Thats right a PIG. BTW, I work on camaros and TA's daily. Currently I have a ys trimed ta/th400 that has nly gone high 10's so far. A turbo camaro that has gone 10.20, a tta, a turbo lt1 TA, a lt1 vert camaro, and another turbo camaro t56 car, and a twin turbo third gen. The NEW car sucks. Its 3720lbs in V6 trim. Its a 300 hp v6 that makes peak power at 6400 and peak torque at 5200? WTF were they thinking? Why not a 4.8 gen 3 with cylinde control and variable cam timing? It would have gotten better mileage. The v6 is rated at 26 hw....? Sorry but a heavy a$$ car and power up high is a horrible combo. Everyone will drive them had to get to the power and wonder why the mileage is 12-15 mpg. The 3720 is base curb weight too, it will be dam close to 4000 lbs with a full tank and a passenger. I think curb weight is the shipped weight isnt it? With like 5 3 gallons of fuel? The v8's...are 3820-3920 lbs....with fuel and a driver its over 4000 lbs....Its gonna be a 14 sec car, esspecially in Vegas. On top of that they put a IRS in it? WTH, didnt they learn anything from the gto and the ctsv? You drive a ctsv hard enough to keep up with a civic and the rear end trys to jump out and take bus ride. Every cts v I ve ever known has had atleast one rear changed, a couple are on their 2nd and third rears. They should have built a 3300 lb car, with the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and 6.2 as the engines. All the same accesories, same mounts, same wiring everything. Better mileage and better performance and less cost. They missed by a landslide at 4000lbs. Itll cost 30k for a v6 and close to 40 for a v8....a used c5 vette will get better mileage, run away from it, handle better, stop better, have more available parts, and they sell for 15-27k used...go buy one and bike, and have money left over for a couple dune seasons.
  6. I saw a black metalic one today at cars and coffee in GV.....sort of funny to buy a brand neww car that is considered a "show car"...lol
  7. If I didnt pull a big trailer I d have either a ford or a duramax. I like the ford interiior better and the duramax is great in town and alot of fun. For most people and most trailers you just dont need a cummins. I have noticed that some fords claim real good mileage and others real bad, probably driving style. I hate all the auto trannys.....what are they 5000-7000 for an ats rebuild and convertor? Thats just too much no matter what brand it is.
  8. wow, I did like him, I thought Griffin won anyways and then all this, I mean really how can I like him now that I know he drives a FORD....LOL
  9. The only reason the tranny go out is caus ethe engine lasts so dam long. I did replace my nv4500 (5 speed) in my dodge becasue it failed. It only had 189k miles on or so, and I was pulling my 50 ft enclosed up a hill in 5th gear. It broke the input shaft. I replaced it with the nv5600 6 speed, and pretty much stopped racing the truck like I use too. The swap cost me right at 3000 but I hope to get another 200k miles out of this one even though the truck puts out 600+ rwhp and real close to 1200 ft lbs. I ve also had to replace the front wheel bearings (unit bearings converted to lock out hubs now) and had a carrier bearing fail. n defense of the carrier bearing though, it had 180k miles on it and I was pulling 30000 lbs out of laughlin in july. Every guy I know with a duramax has had it in the shop for injector problems, every power stroke I personally know has been to the shop many times. Infact I know guy that currently has deisel fuel filling the cooling system? Either a cracked head or some injector seals leaking or something. His 07 duramax has bad brakes, and bad mileage. A good friend of mine that works for the city parks drives duramx, and makes fun of them always needing service.
  10. thats a nice bike. I was actually gonna sell my suz bandit 1200 a few months ago. I even posted it on this site, and am lucky no one took me up on it. I ve got it back out , and its averages in the 40's. The wife drives the honda hybred that gets 60-70mpg. The hot rods and teh cummins stay parked except for fun or work in teh case of the truck.
  11. cool, I cant wait to get my hands on one. I just finished up a twin turbo c5.....and its pretty ridiculous to drive.
  12. since its almost walkimg distance from my house, Ill sure try to make it. I have a triathlon that day, at 700 am. lll be done and back in Vegas by around 5 pm. I get to rest on the ride back. So if I feel up to it, Ill be there. I think I will, but you never know, its gonna be a hot one(hi temps) and that might take a toll on me. Hope to see ya....
  13. um....isnt the gasser a 55? atleast a 55 front end....

    new whip....

An opportunity came up that I couldnt pass up. I picked up a 1964 corvette roadster. I love the roadsters. I have a 66 vette coupe and have always wanted a modded roadster. This was a friends, that I did work on. It has a late model LT1 (fuel injected) and a t56 (6 speed). It rolls on 17x13's in the rear with 335 tires, and 17x 11's up front with 295's. It also has a power r&p conversion. Im gonna ad AC , and if I get in the mood, maybe a procharged (f1) blower and intercooler. It has a racing history and has been on most of the road courses in the western US I think. It handles, very very well. Driving this makes you forget about how much gas is......
  15. I just finished another triathlon, this time at Sand Hollow just outside St George. I did a new personal best...lol but thats only because Im slow, so its easy to go faster. I didnt find out till the end (the run) but apparently they cancelled the swim for the rest of the athletes after I was in the water. I was told they had to, because the rescue boats were full of people they fished out. I was in the very back of my group, but by the end of the swim passing people. I actually didnt think it was that hard, but I ve been swimming two days a week, atleast a mile. A couple other people, (whle on the run, when you actually say a few words) said that it was the hardest swim they had ever done.......that made me feel even better, as I fely good getting out of the water even. I was pretty fast on the bike, mid pack, got passed and did some passing, probably alittle more of the latter. Crossing cattle gaurds at 50 mph on a 17 lb bike = scary.......and I ride a busa for fun. I actually thought about not finishing on the run, it sucked, it was a sandy rocky trail about 90% of the way. The sand and then rocks made it real hard on the ankles compared to smooth running. By the end I was coered in that red silt. I finished though, and was faster then my last one in Havasu and feel better afterwards too. It amazes me how much food I can eat the day after an event though. I probably put down 10000 calories in the 24 hrs afterwards. Next month......I do it again.

    new motor

I wuld make the decision based on parts (when it breaks) and engine management choice. Personally Im a a megasquirt kick, based on options and price. But the ems stinger and 8860 are good. Im using modified megasquirt 2's running ms2 extra code now for ls'1 based engines. The primary reason I like the ms stuff is it allows two seperate ve tables, IE dual fuel. For my turbo cars, its 87 octane off boost and either race gas or e85 on boost. This keeps actual use cost down . The same thing could be done on a high compression na engine too, only usig the good stuff when you need it. ems stinger...= 800-1200 8860 = 1200 or so... ems pro (based on megasquirt 1) but has nice features = 900 mega squirt 1 or megasquirt 2.....= $410 plus harness and maybe some options.....the ones I run are loaded and I get the harness and its $573.00 + some hardware changes in the box. You do need to know more to use the MS stuff....
  17. My sammi is dead on 12 ft long, but it has atleast 18 inches sticking out the back. I made the rear hold stuff and a cooler. Without it it would be under 11 ft, without bumpers or teh oem spare. I run 4 paddles, a spool in the rear, a header and exhuast, and a filter poking through the hood. Other then that its all STOCK. Even the transfer case mounts are stock still. It will go anywhere. It stays in 4 lo all the time except out on the flats, racing rhinos and rangers, which is funny cause itll do 65 pretty easy in hi. I ve duned it everywhere, up comp, up banshee, to the peaks, everywhere. Total investment is under 2000. in the future, Ill put in an ls1 and a glide....already measured it up and have a few ls'1's ....
  18. 4.00 inch bore or larger ls motor(lq4, lq9, ls2,ls3), l92 heads, l76 intake, 232/237 cam...... oh, besides my ussual assortment of ls engines, (I have around 15 new 4340 cranks on a pallet right now) as I build mostly 6.0 irons.... anyways a freind was trying to sell me a ls3 the other day, thats a 6.2...you could make 450-500 all day..... The ls3 block was 1250.....heads 1000, intake, tb,injectors= 550...cam 350, lifters 110, head gaskets 60, arp studs 250.
  19. I ve got a 2.0 you can have for a couple hundred bucks.....
  20. Probably half the trucks in texas are plated for 33k. Not one of which has a door sticker for a gcvw that high. They are all issured, covered and because of state reciprocation must honor it. Infact I know two guys with texas resident status that pull in nv all the time. NV and some other states also offer class a non cdl licenses, like I have. Infact on my license it states doubles, triples, and M for motorcycle. I even had an officer say, well you can drive anything. I responded, with, well as long as its my stuff. The other thing to remeber is, you can stay under you gvw even when pulling huge weights. Under on each axle, under on tires and be over 26k combined. Just more stays on the trailer, which might be rated for 20k-24k. I dont thik the door says anything about GCVW In some instances you hear about insurance companies trying to not cover overweight cicumstances, but overweight deals happen everyday. They still cover them, just like drunk drivers. Still covered, even if they shouldnt be.
  21. illegally? Thats a reach at best. The manufacturers gvw and gcvw ratings are just that ratings, mostly envolved with waranty coverage. They dont want to repair a truck that pulls more. In many states you just pay for the weight you want .......they dont really care what your trucks sticker says or if its safe, the states just want a few extra bucks so you can do it. In many states there are regular pickups taged for 33k .....and pull that or more , I think some go to 40k lbs.
  22. Seems pretty bad for the people that actually have experience. Obviously the group you need to protect. My 5 yr old daughter has been ridig for 3 yrs...and is on her second quad. She started on a 50. Now a 110. I can already see her going bigger much sooner then I ever thought. The power you need in the sand is a lot more then riding around hard pack . If she could pull the clutch on the blaster, I have her on it. Power doesnt hurt you, bad decisions do. We do training at home and at the dunes for rding skills. We specifically go out and work on riding, decision making, scenerios etc.... My 2 yr 4 month old boy doesnt talk much yet....but he gets on the 50. By the time he is 10 hell have more seat time then most adults. These kids (not just mine) will go out and ride till they run out of gas, then fill up and do it again. My daughter probably rides around 7 hrs a day at the dunes. If it passes and becomes an issue....Ill just put bigger engines 90 cc frames.....great they ll be even faster. longer suspension...etc etc...hmmm....a 90 (I have one that needs a motor) with a blaster motor.
  23. yikes.....my I love my old mechanically injected cummins. Bio is fine for it, as I hear most meachanically injected motors. Its the newer "quiet" greener engines that have issues. 500 per injector? Dang my ddp 4's were about 100 each. If you make your own bio you can get the cost way down, thats the general reasoning. And running veggie is different then bio, but still similar problems with the truck engines. BTW, my wife was driving back from Havasu (after the triathlon I was pretty tired) and she got pulled over on the 215 for excessive smoke. She doesnt down shift much. When the female officer said, you know your smokng.....she replied with a giggle "its a deisel" She let us go with a warning after we explained she doent drive it that well.

    ecm

mine is on a 45 degree angle, peice of aluminum panel. I also have other electrical stuff screwed to the panel. On the otherside of the car is another twin panel with the ground strip power strip, bat on off, relays etc...
  25. My sammi came stock with a back seat so I guess I m in the clear. Geez, before you know it they ll want seat belts in rails installed the right way too probably....
