    VW Turbo

Does anybody have a recomendation for a shop/person who knows the in's and outs of installing and fine tuning a turbo on a VW Rail? Any help would be appreciated for a friend of mine.
  2. Walt and I got back to camp after seeing you guys out there picking up trash so we grabbed a cpl garbage bags and headed out in the Rhino. You had all left and the place looked good. But since we were there we picked up another bag full and a cooler lid and headed back to camp. While I was picking up some trash these people had thrown their water bottles on the ground. I asked them are these yours? He looked at me with the same brand bottle in his hand and said Yeah. He then picked them up and threw them in my bag. I know they would have left them if I hadn't embarrased him in front of his family. Thanks to all who helped it does my heart good to see others who care about the place!
  3. They are called pit racers. They can only go fast if they think everybody is watching them. Their problem is that out on the dunes they become scared and come back to the flats so everyone can see how fast their car is. Does not matter that their are kids or other people on smaller vehicles it only matters that they be seen as bad azz! It's still part of the see me generation! Keep the revs for the dunes, if you don't know how to run the dunes there's no shame in that, fall in line or go on a run with experienced duners and learn. If you stand back and watch you will see lot's of high HP cars who idle thru the flats for 2 reasons. 1) there are lots of rocks and they may hurt expensive tires. 2)If they go slow lots of people can admire their stuff for longer!
  4. You need to do a little detective work, first get the peoples address from the plates. Second plan on spending a little time in your car near their house just watching. Sooner or later the dog has to go outside, they might have see thru fencing or gates or they may take the dog for a walk. Then once you have proof then approach Metro etc or even animal control. DO NOT TAKE MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS. Until you have proof that these people took the dog you have nothing to go with. Truth is you have a 50/50 chance. I hope for your sake and the dogs you get him back but you must also understand that they may not have it. If so I would say another trip or 2 to armagossa would be in order to go looking, checking with locals etc. Good Luck!
  5. I have about 10 gallons of VP racing fuel 112 that is a month old. If anybody wants it let me know I will make you a deal on it. But you have to take all 10
  6. I have been to the little dunes once on the way to the mine. I can say I have been there but have no plans of taking that trip again
  7. Just received this today and thought I would share it with all; Dear TRT Members, We had everything planned (concrete and steel ordered),to go forward on Monday 10/16 with the crossing project and realized that several things were against us. The first thing was the weather. Reports predicted rain for the weekend. The second was to make sure all environmental documents were in place. We could have burned the mid-night oil and completed the document review but that still would not have resolved the weather issues. So, rather than hurry through the process, I asked the staff to postpone the project and cancel the material deliveries to a time that we could make sure that we didn't end up with a bottle neck no access to Dumont over Halloween. Several staff were highly diappointed with my decision that Friday, but on Monday when we learned that there were flash floods in the area and the river was flowing, they realized it was the best choice at the time. This is still a priority project and we are planning it for the dry season of 2007. I would rather plan it properly than to hurry through a mess. Roxie C. Trost Field Manager Barstow Field Office
  8. Thursday evening between 5PM and 6PM
  9. We will be in our usual spot near crapper #9 top of the mesa than left about 1/4 mile. Your more than welcome to join us.
  10. Scott if you decided to camp with us let me know? I need to know so I can keep an eye out for you. If your camping somewhere else that's fine just let me know either way.
  11. Bert, you can pull my stacker out for me if you want to haul something heavy!
  12. From all the cars at the sand show that appears to be the new spot to mount them. I wouldn't worry about that as there is plenty of air flow in that spot. However i would not buy a car with a V-8 and a 2D Mendi. I have heard to many stories. I like the northstar engines. Rev nice plenty of torque and power. Easy to upgrade with turbos etc.
  13. Freshened up the Motor, went thru the trans, replaced the seat belts, replaced the radiator and Walt built me some custom radiator mounts for it. Let's see anything else? Gawd i hope not I may never recover from this!
  14. No since you hook them up in parrell they remain a 12 volt system. their is a wiring diagram on Glamisdunes.com under RV that will show you the wiring set up. --------------------
  15. 6 volt batteries are desoigned to recharge faster and more completely than 12 volt batteries. If you hook up 6 volt batteries you will be a very happy camper. I changed my system on my first motorhome and on every RV since. Battery problems are not a concern because of this. Just maintain them and you will love them. There's a battery store on Craig just east of 15. There prices are pretty good.
  16. Ok AZZ bites I made no mention of your camp nor did I infer that you did drugs in your camp. Since it's none of my business anyway(unless your messed up and run me over) I was just letting Scott know that we are a family camp and pretty easy going. I have camped near the DDR camp on 2 occasions and after I put in my earplugs I slept well. Just Kidding.!! I prefer to camp in our regular spot as well it's just easier (no getting stuck) and I like having the dust/noise and idiots away from us. I love coming to the DDR camp for a visit and will continue to do so unless because of my posts I get the boot! :no_no:
  17. Pretty easy to find us Scott. Once you come up onto the Mesa go past the first little white road marker and turn left. We are out about 1/4 mile within 100 yards of bathroom #9 I have a white Alfa motorhome with a 25' white TPD stacker trailer. there will also be a mini Freightliner with a 5th wheel and a couple of other 5th wheels and trailers. I an going out Thursday evening so we will be looking for you Friday morning. We like to have a good time and don't mind kids as long as they are supervised(it's a safety thing:)) We, like Ross and Alice are 100 %drug free camp and we do like to go on rides. Most in the camp have quads so it will be nice to have another car in camp to go on runs with. If you need any more info just PM me for my cell #
  18. Scott, your more than welcome to camp with us out near crapper #9. I get my 40' M/H and trailer in and out of there with no problem. It's a little quieter, less dusty and we have been camping there for years. As Pete can tell you we like the quiet nights with just the campfire and relaxing. My grandkids should be there and it's a nice group of people. If your interested let me know and I will give you directions.
  19. Allstate pretty much has the market on high dollar stuff. If you can live with $30K coverage than Foremost is the way to go. They keep saying there going to increase the coverage to $50k which i would accept. Allstate has the corner on that market and they charge 2 arms,1 leg and a testicle. If you find anybody else please let me know also!
  20. A few oil rags seem to come in handy Glasses for us blind old guys to see what the hell is wrong with it! be nice to have mechanics gloves for working around hot motors and componets. Oh yeah the best thing? Good friends who will interupt their dune ride to get you back to camp safely. Did I mention that the group I was running with in Idaho left me stranded when I broke down? Talk about a not so fun experience!!

    bad news

I might add one and that is National Cycle supply on W. Charleston They are also major contributors for the FoDD clean up at Dumont. As for the other shops you were employed with I have said for years that I refuse to do business with them. I get pissed everytime i even drive by their store in Henderson. Internet parts rock! try http://www.powerpartsplus.com/ they give an additional 10% if you order via net plus their cheaper than anybody else. As for your job loss I am truly sorry to hear that i never like to see that happen but the old saying "When one door closes another door opens up!"
  22. I bought a Rhino for the same reason you are looking. After shopping all over NV. and Utah I ended up getting mine from Altus Motorsports in Altus Okla. With shipping it was still less than either Utah or Nv dealers would sell it for. The SE model has a few upgrades, digital dash, chrome wheels and blue paint. Each model has a different price. Here's the web site; http://www.altusmotorsports.com/
  23. That would be the rebel distrabution center. They sell rocket race fuel and although it is cheaper than VP or Sunaco it also has been said that it is not near the quality or performance of the others. I would rather run a high grade more expensive race fuel in my car. In the whole scheme of things why would I worry about saving a buck or so on a gallon of fuel if I am already paying double the pump gas price? These motors that require high octane gas cost a lot more to repair than to worry about a buck or two per gallon. In my humble opinion.
