Chris(Duelordie) and I decided to take the road up to the top of Sunrise mountain this afternoon...

What an awesome trip and beautiful view.

We are going to do it again at night.

Here is Chris adding our names to the notebook in the Geocache ammo can.

u drove all the way up there in your tracker bert??? I didnt realize there was a legal road that went that high up!!! nice pics. great view all around !

Its supposed to be closed off but the gates were open.Well I was in 4 low and hubs locked in.Its not a easy road.Very very rocky with loose rocks and big loose rocks all arouns and rutted all out.Yeah the view was 360 degrees.

Its not something you can take anything up.Probably nothing longer than a regular cab short bed truck.

Even I had to make 3-4 point turns on the switch backs.

Makes you wonder how they got all the service trucks up there to put those towers together :D

Very nice....you made it to the top of Frenchman's mountain. I live in the red square which is actually at the base of Sunrise on the other side of Lake Mead Bl here:

Some of the stuff is so big or so long they had to have brought it in with a helicopter and had crews up there to put it up.

Very sketchy indeed. You used the county access road which is not used much any more. One of my friends in Facilities took that road once and he said it was not fun at all...lot's of switch backs and rocky like you described. The last time any maintenance was done it was all by helicopter. My turn to go up was coming up, but I was promoted into another dept doing something other than carpentry. :freakin_nuts: I got to watch them bring a shed down from there via helicopter. Apparently the winds destroyed it, and it was a total loss.

Thanks for sharing!
