  1. Going through old pics I've taken over the years and scanned these to upload. The springs have been used by Indians, then by Francisco Garces and the Spanish (1776), then Jedidiah Smith (1826), then the US Army built 3 outposts, including this one, between Fort Mojave and Camp Cady along the Mojave Trail that settlers would eventually use going west. The Mojave Trail was new and it intersected here with the Old Spanish Trail between LA through the Cajon Pass, down the Mojave River but went north from here, Soda Springs, up the State Hwy 127 valley to the Amargosa River through Tecopa going right by Dumont and eventually to New Mexico. Doing a break right/dive
  2. Get a replacement glass lens or 2 for a Maglite flashlite or Home Depot should have replacement glass for the track lighting, same as Lazer Stars lens (same as I use on my helmet light in avatar). put a few dots of Permatex Ultra Grey silicone on your cam lens rim and apply the glass lens. After it cures use some cheap silicone to finish seal. Get some stick on clear camera lcd monitor protectors to use as tear-offs for sand impact and you'll have clear optics and protected lens. Or use nothing and have a good reason for that new camera you like.
  3. Nothing wrong with the original except too small for worn out eyes. My sight isn't what it used to be, I zoomed in so I could see, adjusted white & black point and .3 pixel unsharp mask. Just was too small for me to see wutup :B Do that to the original and it will pop. And its been opened and compressed 3-4 times at least.
  4. If that lens has IS image stabilization he might have the switch on "1" and IS is doing the cha cha cha trying to stabilize the panning. If it's an IS L, flip it to "2".
  5. Hard to tell with the small pic, what camera and lens? The 1st one looks short on the focus maybe, look at the water. The 2nd one has the center of focus between the 150 boat and the camera with the depth of field just reaching the 150. Look at the water to see the focus fall off just beyond the 150. To get both boats you need more DOF (depth of field), that means a smaller aperture (a higher number f-stop) and a faster shutter speed, and focus between the boats or even higher f-stop and focus on the 150.
  6. Cool pic, looks trippy upside down too. Looks like dunes (just kidding Pete)
  7. I installed all the DOT signals, lights, Hi Beam indicator, mirror and tires, etc and licensed an offroad DRZ in AZ., but it's the same basic thing as street legal DRZs where there's not any street legal ATVs that I know of with a live rear axle, which understeer on paved roads, and not sure if there's DOT ATV tires, that's enough to stop the conversion.
  8. Tie some fine thread or fishing line around it's leg and "fly" it.
  9. Pete, what are these? looks like grab bars but why there?
  10. I'm guessing your needle & seat (float level) is a dribbler, at least while running/vibration. The bowl to carb line between the slide and engine is for the power jet and you're seeing the fuel level rise there as well as the overflow. Might be dirt, old fuel residue or just worn. That's the 1st thing to check anyway. Good luck
  11. 640? Ha ha, I set the camera up during the womens 1st moto (1pm) and 1000 gave me the Av above 5.6f and from there on I watch the Av and spin the wheel by the shutter release to keep it at or above 5.6f so the DOF doesn't get too shallow, bet that pic is late afternoon ... Ha, it is check the 1st pics, 1/1000 and at least 5.6f. Didn't realize that late afternoon sun dropped the exp so much. I didn't need 1/1000 as where I planted my a$$ there wasn't any real panning. Pete the photographer Mr. PIC-ala-PETE This pic is at 1/1000 (dang you Pete, now I'll be checking everything :porn: )
  12. If you liked the 1st one, this one is the same jump. Check out Trey Canard, #39, scrubbing and his back tire is still on the ground.
  13. Nope, the race announcers said the fastest were doing 75 there, the fastest part of the track. And when the wheels are that close zoomed and spinning fast it will blur, zoom out and no blur. o vs O, a point on O covers more pixels than o at the same shutter speed. If this makes any sense
  14. Pete, we should get 3 peeps on quads, 1 for each letter "D D R" and do a night long exp on a slope, all 3 quads synchronized ride the letter shape and turn off lights, A big DDR light trail photo.
  15. Jodi, he's wearing a wedding ring I think.
  16. Yes, there was a race Saturday, the AMA MX Nationals. I posted a couple pics in Gen chat also.
  17. A few of the action on Saturday. Ryan Villopoto, Mike Alessi, Andrew Short, Chad Reed, and Josh Grant were the front runners. Alessi was on the gas but couldn't hold off Villopoto. Villopoto won both motos. Villopoto chasing down Short Villopoto putting on the pressures and Josh Grant bobbles and makes the pass Reed chasing Andrew Short Alessi on the gas
  18. Seems like it would pop out of your head :clown: Might be just a connection barely seeping coolant and a lot of AC uses the heater to regulate temp and it's evaporating off, if you don't notice a coolant loss. I've had a leaking heater core a few times.
  19. Cole, check out DDM, the smallest digital ballasts, lifetime warrantee and retail is $70
  20. Jill, those are some really good pics, what kind of camera do you use? It nails the white balance & exposure and has good color. Oh yeah, you catch any flies?
  21. lol, that's funny, not just a sock, an argyle sock Good work Pete, good composition and got the exposure nailed. Using the 28-135 mostly? Did you discover any tricks or techniques for the DSLR thread?
  22. I converted a Cibie Oscar light 10 years ago to HID, back then the ballasts were really big with a separate igniter, been running it on my LT500 ever since. Just put a Hi/Lo beam HID in a Baja Designs DOT legal headlight on my DRZ400, way brighter than the 80/100W H4 and is only 35 watts. Trippy thing is the way you get Hi & Lo beam from 1 HID, it has an solenoid and controller, hit Hi and bulb slides back into holder, Lo and it slides back out refocusing the light on the reflector.
  23. Cole, I just realized that merged pic wasn't the final pic, this one below is, just a little more contrast and sharper detail.
