Posted Yesterday, 01:42 PM This is in the Pahrump newspaper on 9-2-11. If you think the town of Tecopa wants to keep Sperry wash open your living in a dreamland. They want it closed and no OHV traffic anywhere near their little piece of Paradise by us bad off-roaders! Read the info on this meeting at the bottom of the post please. http://pvtimes.com/community/blm-tecopa-meeting-for-amargosa-river/ Pahrump Valley Times The Bureau of Land Management Barstow office will hold a public scoping meeting at 7 p.m., Sept. 14, in Tecopa, Calif., to gather comments for developing a management plan for the Amargosa River area. A short presentation regarding the planning process will be shown, and the public is welcome to participate and submit comments. In 2009, a 22-mile section of the Amargosa River was declared a wild and scenic river by Congressional legislation, and the BLM is charged with managing and protecting the outstandingly remarkable values of the area which earned it this special designation. Key among these is preserving the free flowing condition of the river, as well as other biological, historic, cultural, geologic or riparian features that make it unique. This wild and scenic corridor lies within a larger designated Area of Critical Environmental Concern, and the management effort will develop a joint management plan for both of these entities. This section of the Amargosa River is home to two species of endemic desert fish, the pupfish and the speckled dace, and because it is a permanent flowing stream it is also a critical source of water for a wide array of wildlife. The Amargosa Conservancy, a local nonprofit land trust, has been working with the BLM to move the planning effort forward. Another aspect of the plan is to allow for development of appropriate recreational opportunities such as hiking, birding, and horseback riding. It is hoped that these type of sustainable activities will also act as an economic engine for local eco tourism based businesses in an economically depressed area. For more information about this meeting, contact the BLM office at 951-697-5220, or by email at amargosa@blm.gov. These people even the one who is the president of the Armagosa River Conservancy and owns the China Date ranch wants us out of the area. Even though he takes your money and sells you his goods knowing that you have travelled illegally on paved roads and his county maintained dirt road to get there he wants OHV's out of the Sperry Wash! If they get what they want it will leave no OHV trails for folks who come out with dirt tires and want to ride their quads, SXS or jeeps/trucks whatever. I can tell you right now that those people who want to go for a trail ride will intrude on the already closed areas surronding the dunes and it will bring HEAT down on us to either shut us down or FENCE the whole area. Of course once the fence is in place a judge orders an injunction and the last opening is closed and we allowed it to happen! We need to show up as a interested group of Stakeholders and wear a dumont shirt so they know who we are and be respectfull but get our point across. The meeting is Wed. Night @7 PM and is about an 1 hour 15 minute trip from vegas, Who is willing to take an evening to protect our rights? Let me know as I have some seats available and would really like to see some support for our side for a change at one of these meetings. Terry President Friends of Dumont Dunes Nevada OHV representitive to the BLM Dumont Dunes DAC Sub-Group

Dan, I only have an S4 and although it's a struggle I can at least see Pete's tailights sometimes. Don't worry about being a wuss, we only travel as fast as the slowest guy in the line, or until we loose you whichever comes first . I have you beat as I started at Dumont in October 1975 and although I kow them like the back of my hand they have a habit of changing so nobody with any smarts goes on a crazy fast run without spending some time scouting out the dunes first. We have never had a medical evac as far as I know from any of our runs, a few tow jobs but better machine sthan people. We stay away from souvenirs as they cost to much money that is dedicated to race fuel!!!!!!!! looking forward to meeting you and going for a run with you. Holy moly please let dune season get here fast i need to smell some race fuel in the morning

Have a great Birthday Randy, remember age is just a number!

How come I am always on the sh*t list? I don't camp with the guys I dune with cause they camp in the dustbowl and I like a little more quiet time out in the boonies. Also how do I tell my friends that I have been camping with for 10+ years that I am out and going back to the dust/noise bowl? I can't do that loyality is a big thing to me. Having said that Pete you have come out to get me and i do appreciate it. that but that doesn't mean I can't give you a little pre-season crap right? BTW I can't friggen wait to get on the dunes again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah that's true about Pete unless you camp out near #9 then he seems to forget about you and go on nice fast rides without you. But hey I know there's a couple of "pebbles" you have to get by to come over and get me so i understand!

I doubt that your ever "gonna haul balls" in a mid engine car. The weight ratio's just make it difficult to get them on top of the whoops and keep them there without the rear end washing out. I am not sure there is a cure for it but there's nothing that can't be fixed if you throw enough money at it. Personally I will give up running fast over the whoops in order to get the dune carving a mid engine 2 seater gives you but that's just my 2 cents worth.

Jeff, I only have one system left in stock. I can see about getting another one but can guarantee it won't be the same price as I am selling the one I have below cost just to move it. If your interested I would be glad to meet up with you to show it to you. I live in henderson at the 515 and Horizon. let me know?

LOL This is true plus the fact that all the weapons are sighted in from my back door to the front of the trailer and coach :cocktail:
-
Jeff, . I do know it was manufactured in Italy not China. It is high quality and did a great job on protecting my own trailer. I know there were times when I set it off accidently or forgot it was armed and it did it's job. Install is fairly easy if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. If I didn't store this trailer at home with it behind a locked gate and a locked cable to the sun shade I would have already installed it on mine. I don't think you would be unhappy with it and it's more than a fair deal since I sold several for over $350.00. Let me know if you need any further ino? This system was invented by Tommy Johnson Sr. ( His son is a world champion drag racer). The box contains all compononts, install instructions, support info and 2 wireless key fobs for arming and unarming the system. Also included all wiring, siren, and "brain" of the system. It is called Advanced Wireless Technology. Terry

Hey aren't you supposed to be using the water truck to keep the dust down instead of taking these pics? Must be a government job:)

It's ok Pat I like the air foil on the front!

I think you will be unhappy with 9 paddles. It takes lot's of HP to turn that extra paddle. I wouldn't go higher than 8's
