  1. Thank you! They felt ok last night, they were up and walking around like nothing. The passenger was wearing his seatbelt. He went to the hospital this morning cuz his ribs were really hurting him. The driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt and he said he is feeling good today. We all yelled at him for not wearing his seatbelt. The girl who caused all this has Farmer's Ins. so coverage shouldn't be a problem. The tow bill alone to upright the trailer, get it on the semi truck flatbed and off the freeway was almost $1800.00. Ouch!
  2. Did you contact your insurance about this? They should be dealing with the girls insurance and they should hire a lawyer for you. That is what you pay insurance for. Just finished up a case not too long ago. My ins co got me a great lawyer and it didn't cost me a dime.
  3. I just wanted to share pictures with you of what happened last night on the way home from Dumont. My hubby and 3 of his friends were involved in an accident at about 8:15pm at Grand Ave where the 57 & 60 fwys come together (Diamond Bar, CA). Everyone is ok, couple of bumps and bruises but that's it. Thank God!! Brian (hubby) and Phillip are really shaken up, they saw the whole thing happen pretty much in slow motion right in front of them. Details..... Tony was driving the Harley F250 truck (David was passenger) towing the trailer with the sandrail in it, a girl came on the freeway and lost control of her car and hit Tony 2 times. Tony went head on with the wall doing about 50-55mph, the trailer flipped over on the drivers side. Brian was driving the dually (Phillip was passenger) behind them towing our trailer with the quads in it. Luckily the way it all played out Tony's quick thinking and reactions saved them and other drivers from it being a lot worse and Brian was able to control his truck and trailer and swerve out of the way to avoid hitting Tony and the trailer and anyone else. The girl completely admitted to Tony & the CHP what happened and that she was at fault. The truck and trailer are totaled for sure. Not sure yet about the sandrail. They are getting the trailer back today from the tow yard so they can look more into the extent of the damages. God was definitely watching over them last night. It could have been so much worse. I said a prayer as soon as I got to the accident and thanked God for keeping them safe. Life really can change in the blink of an eye.
  4. I just saw it on the news articles on the front page of the internet when I just logged on. I immediately came to DDR for more info. You guys are better than a news channel.
  5. Yes they have diesel, a dump station, water & dumpsters, $5.00 to dump Baker Ice Service 57482 Hwy 127 Baker, CA 92309 (760) 733-4302 Very nice older lady runs it, cheap cheap cheap prices, she is trying to get enough money to get her truck fixed so she can start coming out to the dunes.
  6. Holy Crap!! I would be paddling a lot faster....
  7. The hubby (Mr.B DS650) is out there now. They left last night and will be coming home Friday morning. So so jealous....
  8. Wahoo!!! We are there. Leaving either Wed night or early Thurs morning. Staying till Tues morning to avoid the holiday traffic. Can't wait, haven't been since turkey day.
  9. Definitely gonna be at the clean up!! I had a lot of fun at last year's clean up working the registration both. I got to meet so many DDR peeps. Look forward to meeting lots more this year.
  10. Welcome to DDR! There is always a DDR member lurking around the dunes somewhere and is always willing to help out.
  11. Glad to hear he is ok. Wow, 2 hours of pain like that, yikes, I would wish that on my worst enemy. Great job on the tough love and responsible parenting. :freakin_nuts: Wish more parents would do that.
  12. OH MY GOSH, IT'S A DIRT ROAD!!!!! What part of this aren't these people understanding?? :rainbow1: They think this is bad, try going down Bessemer (sp?) Mine Road in Johnson Valley. That beats the poop out of you. Do you really think Dumont brings in enough money on "holiday weekends only" to pay for all of this stuff? Can you imagine how many people sneak in & out of Dumont without paying? How fair is that? How much do you think each of the Rangers, BLM, Sheriff's, CHP, Medical staff, etc get paid? I am guessing quite well. How much do you think it costs to lug that big grader thing out to the middle of no where, gas to get it there, gas to run it all weekend, pay for the driver, etc?? And for that matter how about the water truck?? Think about this..... How much would we have to pay you to drive to the middle of no where, away from your family & friends, work basically 24/7 for 3-4 days with little to no sleep, sharing a trailer with 2,3,4 or so other people, put up with a bunch of drunk, stupid & immature people, constantly making sure people are safe and for the most part just all around babysitting??? What would you expect to get paid?? And no, the riding you would have to do would not be for fun, it would be work.
  13. Great idea Pete! Just post it on the main page so everyone (members & guests) can see it. Kids now a days are whimps!! They can't even handle a bumpy road to go offroading. Let me guess the ones complaining about the rough roads are probably the ones that drive all the way out there and hardly ride and leave a huge trash mess when they leave.
  14. I really don't understand why it is so hard for some people to put their trash in a trash bag or can. I can imagine what their homes must look like. Turkey weekend I was driving my hubby crazy cuz everytime he turned around I was out picking up trash and b*tching about people being slobs. I even had the rake out and was going over the 20 or so old fire pits in our camp. I will give you a short version of the turkey weekend issue we had. We had some "bleep bleep bleep" that parked by us to pack up their rigs, they left so much trash when they left, my hubby went and chased the guy down and told him to pick up their trash, the guy told him to "F" off so hubby went and pointed him out to the Rangers. Rangers got him, I think gave him a ticket for speeding back towards our camp, his friend came and cleaned up most of his mess before the Rangers could see it, I cleaned up the rest. The Rangers couldn't do anything because they didn't see the trash for themselves, but they did come stay in our camp for a few to make sure the guy and his group didn't come start anything with us. The Ranger thanked us over and over for helping clean up and for pointing out the trash idiots. The guys that parked on the other side of us that left a huge mess, that again I cleaned up, had a website on their trailers. I left a really, really nice message on their comment page about what I thought of them and their trash. Just a few things then I'm done...... Would it be that hard to clean out and use an existing fire pit? Aluminum and other metals, glass, nails, hangers, coffee cups, metal bottle caps, etc DO NOT MELT and go away. When the fire goes out THEY ARE STILL THERE. I am sure that with well over 3000 members on DDR that a portion of that are the slobs that we see around the dunes. They are OUR dunes. Speak up if you see someone making a mess or leaving trash. Pick up others trash too not just your own. There is not "someone else there to pick it up". The once a year clean up helps but it needs to be done daily. Maybe people will get it if we put a large sign at the entrance to Dumont. "YOUR MOTHER DOES NOT LIVE HERE, PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF" Ok, I'm done. I could go on and on but I will spare you the
  15. We usually camp by #8 about where the old vendor row was at.
  16. I think a specific time would be a good idea. That way everyone there knows there will be racing, hill shooting , whatever you want to call it and can alert others so nobody gets in the way and gets hurt. Then there are witnesses to the winners. hehehe
  17. Holy Crap!! I'm glad he's ok. I guess if he wanted to get a new toy he definitely knew how to do it so the old one couldn't get fixed. My question is, Does insurance cover vehicles "off-roading" or "jumping" dunes??? If he had to explain this to his wife and she did not see the positive side (he was not hurt) of this I think he might be needing a new home not a new toy.
  18. Danny, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God watch over you and help you through a full recovery.
  19. Well the week was great. Monday to Monday couldn't ask for a better vacation..... Turkeys were yummy Had a great group of friends with us The only time my hubby has the camera is when I have a "DUH" moment, I got my foot stuck in a fold up chair. Don't ask just go with it. No crashes, no injuries I found I can can drive my hubby crazy by bitching about how much trash was there... Yes, I did pick up a buttload of it. More on that later. Getting my truck to go sideways in the sand is a blast Nice that it wasn't too crazy, mellow is good sometimes. Dunes by full moon is awesome. Being out there for a week makes you really relaxed, then your mind starts to wander, and you start thinking about really crazy stuff. Like does a sky diving company have a complaint department??? Seriously? Maybe you would have had to have been there, we were reading the 24/7 Las Vegas to do book during breakfast. All in all was a great week....

    Fuel Prices

You know, I'm all for treating the earth good but come on. Someone really needs to take the Sierra Club, tree huggers, etc and smack the s**t out of them. They need to wake up and smell reality. Yes, gas prices do suck. $3.21 per gallon for 87 is disgusting. Really really cuts into the budget for other fun things to do.
  21. I can relate. I used to work with over 400 owner operator truck drivers. I did dispatch and ins claims. It's amazing how many bridges just jump out in front of them. Now I have the joy of managing an apartment complex with over 250 college kids. Not sure which is worse to deal with......
  22. Ok, our English Bulldog is spoiled as spoiled can be. He goes everywhere with us unless it is going to be over 90 degrees (they can't handle the heat) then he stays with my father-in-law. Pending on how long we are going camping for, I either put it in one of the cereal type containers or since I buy the large bags of dry food, I have a 5-gallon bucket I keep his food in. He has a set of bowls for inside the trailer and a set for outside the trailer. Hey I already said he is spoiled. He is really good at being left in the trailer. No crate, he just gets on his bed and sleeps. He was bad when he was little, he would bark like crazy. Even outside, I put his harness on him but not his leash. He is too lazy to go anywhere. Plus I don't let him out of my site. He usually just sits on the mat in front of the trailer door or by the campfire at night. It's all in the training and the attention you give them. P.S. I am selling the metal fence (can be made into a square or an octagon) for $50.00. Paid $85.00 at Petco.
  23. OMG I feel so bad for laughing while reading this but looking back now, I'm sure it seems funny. I would have given up and went and stuck my head in the sand somewhere. Thank God you and your neighbors were not hurt. Toys can be repaired. And I though my friends were having a bad day. They called us about 3 hours ago and said while they were going up the Cajon Pass some guy passed them honking and flashing his lights and as he looked in his mirror at his trailer (33' Gear Box Fifth Wheel) he saw the rear axle shake really bad and fly out from under the trailer and off the side of the freeway. Luckily they are ok, they pulled over with no problems. On another note, how stupid are they to smuggle it under a toneau cover in a truck and under a blanket in an suv. Not the smartest now are we???
