i have the motor back together except for the head. had to order some new o rings. i had all the parts to put back in my other banshee but i guess i will just part that thing out now. it will be running this weekend. i have a line on a complete race car for 3 grand with extra wheels and tires. im going to check that out. will probably save alot of time and money in the long run if it is worth a crap.

ya he was bummed but at the time i figured it maybe just siezed a piston. i was the dumb a$$ who talked him into riding it. told him he wouldnt want to ride the warrior again. bad call! geez, even the reeds were screwed up. aluminum all peppered in them. the edges were cooked. brand new V force 3,s. i think i salvaged them though. we'll see how it runs.

ya i know. but i love riding that damn thing. i really was considering getting that new zuki like yours but thats alot of coin for me right now. im trying to get a race car together for the next season of racing snore. i had enough extra parts to put my banshee back together. i just had to order new o rings for the cool head but it will be running soon. ready for the next disaster

another 2 stroke lesson learned the hard way. i let my kid ride my banshee for the first time easter weekend at dumont and it didn't go well. i told him to keep the motor revving and not to lug it. he took it to mean run it wide f*ckin open till you stop. he just rode it on the flats screaming till i couldnt here anything. after a while i heard him screaming back and as soon as he slowed down approaching camp the motor locked up. turns out the spark plug in the right cylinder loosened just enough for it to run lean under those conditions and cook the motor. i asked him " didnt the motor start making a bunch of rackett? " he said ya but didn't stop. i left it at that. here are some pics of the carnage.

Yamaha two wheeler-two wheel drive
superdave replied to SandBox_Kid's topic in ATV / Motorcycle Talk
im not a two wheel rider but i dont think it would be much use except in something like the dakar race. they cant use paddles and those dunes are wicked that they have to go over. -
not only that but you can go alot farther on a tank of gas with the 4 stroke and probably the thing i hate most about the banshee in the desert is going over some precarious terrain can be scary because you dont have that power control. i have almost lost it a couple of times climbing rough stuff. it hits that power band so quick it can get away from you at the worst moment. i stick to my warrior for the desert. it does plenty fine out there.

we will be there. good possibility we may be working that race. we worked the laughlin race and the guys we worked with also do the terribles cup. i dont know if you know bill wik with score but he sets us up. we also work the primm 300 everyyear. we used to have a great checkpoint at the rairoad tressel were they came out and through one side and came back on the other. that new deal with the land being sold for the supposed airport put the kiebosh on that. we need to hook up this time. you have the food thing down. off topic but i need a bus trans for my champ car. if you know where i can score one let me know please.

never too hot to watch racing. i was out there in the middle of july for the score terrible 250's before they decided it was too hot to run that race. had to have been at least 120 out but as long as i have my easy up and plenty of beer and water im there.

some guys there told us they were getting nothing but air crossing valley view on the way back in. gonna be sure to check that out next year.

man, i wish we would have. went back and got caught up in our own thing, some more people showed up at our camp. will make it a point to next time. we had a blast and are going to make that trip alot more often now. will make some plans next time and try out your camp spot there behind the dunes.

mike klein owns greenvalley cycle and knows his sh*t. i trust him. not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. plus he is close. he does quads too. he has always taken the time to give me advice and double checked a bore job i had done before i find out about him. didn't charge me for that.

act like adults?! fk that!

me too! my silly wife does that but worse, when it runs out on her she will get a new roll and just stick it on top of the old one instead of putting it on the roller. i guess after 23 years thats an improvement. used to just leave it empty.

is that behind the dunes? i stay on the left side as your facing the dunes coming in.

its turning out to be pretty useful to the cops. alot of these jackass punks doing stupid stuff along with some pretty serious crimes have a myspace page and are getting busted when they brag about their stupid exploits.

i will be there. we camped out last year at the dunes and rode around to various areas of the race course. had to dodge the blm guy a bit but had a good time. got a lot of good pics. never thought about posting them. kinda forgot about that. lets get together and make a weekend out of it.
