Gambling?

Okay, since some of us live in Vegas, who's a gambler? I know I'm going to get the reply I'm a (weiner) winner cause I don't gamble so let's get that out of the way. I personally like to play blackjack, but I wouldn't consider myself successful, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on how they play or where they win. I'd really like to have the casino's buy me a LT. Anyone???? :slap::rockwoot:

I lost 10 bucks once at gambling. I was pissed off. :pissed: I was 21 and it was the first time and last time I gambled. That was 8 years ago. I haven't gambled since. No thanks...I'll keep my hard earned dollars. :pissed: you casinos.

Sorry...I can't help you with any advice, Travis. :dunno::laughoff:

The best BlackJack is at the Las Vegas Club on Freemont street, across from the Golden Nugget, down the street a bit.

It almost has "Old Downtown Vegas" or "Old Northern Nevada" rules.

You can double down on any hand, split indefinatly, the surrender rule is always in effect, if you draw 6 cards it's an automatic blackjack (with a shoe game you see that more often), and a half dozen other rules no other casino offers anymore.

Good craps too.

The employees are friendly, clean nice sports theme atmosphere.

The comp drinks flow very easily, beware they pour them super strong.

A good link with good takes:

"You can double down on any hand"

This can be done anywhere except a machine.....

"surrender rule is always in effect"

This is as bad as insurance....

"if you draw 6 cards it's an automatic blackjack"

How many times have you done this, even on a shoe?

I think the only good thing that the north does is pay double instead of one and a half on a "natural" blackjack.....

We don't gamble either but we like the ones that do!! They help build all the the high dollar casinos to bring more gamblers to pay more of our taxes. THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DO....... WE APPRECIATE IT> :P:P:P:P

dont play at a table with more than 2 decks....raises the house's odd's...Keep it single or double, no more than that

How do you figure? In my opinion the only thing this will hurt is keeping count - and even if one was to keep a good count that only raises your odds .50% - the house still have an almost 5% chance in their favor....

Just my 2 cents - Now on to the bashing.....

All gambling is a loosing proposition.

The "Old Northern Nevada Rules" and "Old Downtown Rules" were way, way different than they are today.

Even different than the 'Vegas Club now offers.

They vanished about the time Wynn was casino manager at the Nugget.

Late 1960's early 70's.

One rule among many that changed for example: the dealer had to hit ANY 17.

The odds at a shoe game and a single deck are the same, unless you count cards, and very few people can do that effectively. Very few.

We go to play the best we can, If we win it's a bonus.

We just enjoy playing cards, a few drinks,, a show and a nice dinner without the kids.

Anyone who says they're ahead gambling, or they always win is full of crap.

Speaking of crap:

Even the best dice games offer about a 2% house edge at todays odds and rules.

That is an astronomical advantage.

The newer blackjack rules give the house a stratopheric, colossal, incredable advantage far, far beyond that.

The Crapless Craps at the Strat, probably the worst odds in any house game ever next to the wheel of fortune.

Maybe the Video poker is worse.

Roulette: The payout rate vs odds ratio is ridiculous.

It's all so bad, not worth debating.

I hope no one one here has a gambling problem.

I've seen countless friends beat drugs, alcohol, religious cult & spending addictions.

I've never seen anyone beat a gambling addiction.

Play for fun, if ya win, it's a bonus.

Thanks for all the advice, and NO I don't have a problem. I just like to play for entertainment not to make money. I play basic strategy and vary my bets, thats the only thing that works for me. I believe you have to play the runs and leave when your ahead, you also have to start with more than 100 bucks incase you catch a bad run. Thats how I roll. :yeah_whatever:

Ok they don't build those billon dollar casinos on winners, with that in mind never play with more money then you are willing to throw out the window driving down the road. I play nothing but progressive video poker machines, then will go over to $5 video if ahead. I have hit over 5 royals this year, 1360.00 1500. 2000.00 4,000.00 and the grand daddy on a $5 for $20,000. I like to play the same machine if its been god. the $5 machine i play in pahrump has given me a royal and 2 4 aces with a kicker for 10k each. Now don't know what everybody else does with their winnings but i went bought land with mine. Hard to put the dirt back into the machine :D anyway love to play. I take full advantage of all the comps offered, never play without a players card. So i get disounts on food gas and rooms.

oK CALL ME FULL OF CRAP THEN. I keep a list of when I gamble and how much I win/loose. This past year, I am way ahead. I play basic stradegy and count cards. I am not an MIT grad and cant keep a perfect count. But if you can count all the 10's, aces, fives, and sixes, you can almost always at least break even. When the count is in my favor, I always go big. $2,500 or more per bet and this keeps me ahead of the game. Always play on a table where the max bet limit is high. So when the cards favor you, You can take full advantage of it.
