Disrespectful people at Dumont

Recommended Posts

That taping off or anything else to do with rebar stuck in the ground is dangerous and should not be allowed. everytime I run up on that stuff, I go a very different way. There is a reason they make them cap it off on construction sites, and the reason is this - even a person that weighs in at 50lbs has a very high change of having a fatal wound if they trip and have that go into their chest cavity - rebar is sharp even when cut at a 90 degree angle. Imagine if you fell off a quad and on to it - you would be seriously injured. Rebar is 100 times worst then pallets, but the rangers dont seem to be concerend about it. Parents that use this stuff to corral their kids in should have really take a look at the risk they are taking....

I agree with you, I must have misunderstood what your post was about.

I grew up riding those fingers and my parents never roped off the dune...but there werent as many people either.

hmmmm. this could really be helped alot if the lazy rangers would do their jobs and put an end to the racing, rebar barricades, etc. it only takes 1 leo per finger to patrol it. they had many more there doing nothing as usual. they just ride around waiting for bad to happen instead of preventing it. driver know they can do as they please since the leos wont do anything except give tickets for ridding double, rear light out or no whip. but its ok to speed 90mph across flats, pop wheelies where you cant see anyone, put up deadly barricade of rebar etc etc. yes, its getting like glamis cuz they have more leos and are trying to police better. so, alot of the bad apples are coming to dumont to show their balls. I had to move away from the crowd just to have peace of mind. the kids were running loose, driving all over, going around my camp instead of their own. great parents watching their kids. I had to shoe the kids and told them to go dust their own camps and not mine. got tired of it and just picked up toybox and moved far,far away. wasnt worth the hassle. it was a zoo out their without respect of anyone or anything. Ive never seen so many riders on the dunes without a clue of how to ride and the rules of the road. good thing I got there wed and had good riding on thurs. after that, a complete joke. to bad the sport is getting worse instead of better. the leos are going to have to start taking charge of the bad crap and forget the petty stuff or we will be in big trouble. my 2c

All of these idiots that this thread is about is the exact reason why I do not do holiday weekends anymore... :beercheers: I choose other weekends during the month to go out and I'll admit it.........I'm selfish and love the dunes to myself.... B) Holiday weekends are great, if you like it for the show factor. But personally, I'm over that. It is a big bummer to hear of all these stories when you guys get back of how this A-hole did this, or that A-hole did that, and as far as foolsofsand having to move his camp, now that royally sucks!!! Even when I did do holiday weekends, I camped as far away from the dunes as possible, usually against the cliff. It's not going to get any better, and for those who do enjoy the holiday weekends out there, more power to ya.... :beercheers: I'll stick with my off-weekends........thank you......... :beercheers:

well fyi our camp there was no rebar on the hill or tape or cones. that was the camp next to us. 2 camps from you guys we were next door :beercheers: and although i think roping the finger halfway is prudent i do not believe that rebar is safe or proper to use on the hill like that. i believe our neighbors were using rubber cones im not honestly sure......................... :beercheers:

totally seeng the disrespect. We had one of the quad carborators opened up and the camp next to us had their kids driving a rhino in circles around the both of our camps. we asked them politely to steer the other direction for a few minnutes and they did so... but then they told their parents that we asked them to do so and then a few moments later they came back blasting music and smiling at us.. whatever we got the carb cleaned out and went on our way... but then the father drove through our camp and peeled out and was being a smartass about it.... Wow, what a way to set an example hunh? :beercheers:

not only should taping/coning off the finger dunes be illegal, and ticketed, but rebar in the sand is a lawsuit waiting to happen

If I were to run over rebar, put in the sand by some AZZhole, and I run over it, and get hurt, reck my ride, and whatever else, you bet your AZZ that is negligence on THEIR part

why stop at rebar??? hell, plant some fuggin land mines out there!!! put a 50 cal turret on top of the toy hauler and kill anyone that comes within 100 meters of camp!!!!

where does the lunacy stop????

you cant say f roping off a piece of the finger there are so many a$$hats that are hauling a$$ in the finger dunes. the children are in danger .

children are the sole responsibilty of their parents. roping off ANY dunes is a giant sign that says. " caution, piece of sh!t parents nearby that want to drink, and not watch their kids"

i dont like that rebar thing i know tom puts it down around camp but the people next to us had the hill taped off. i dunno if it was rebar or not . those folks are from vegas we know a few of them .( i almost had to punch one of them i hate techno music at 1:30 in the morning)

So if one person is being an AZZHOLE, it is OK to be one??? WTF kinda logic is that???

anywase the lil ones need protecting to and if we adaults are alil uncomfortable i dont see a problem.

Then, if you parents are a little uncomfortable about you bringing your kids there, you need to inconvienence everyone else, who is also there to enjoy the dunes? again , nice logic there.

try keeping the kids in camp, by making your camp bigger , by making the circle of haulers bigger, or something, inconvienence YOURSELF with your kids, not everybody else. geesh!!! this isn't socialism[/size][/b]

it would be better than talking about the death of a child cause of some a$$hat that thought it was his right to haul a$$ through the fingers . the rules even state you are to go like 25 arund campsights. but who is adhering to it ???

so because one rule is broken, THAT makes it ok to put everyone else at risk w/ rebar, and cordoning off the finger dunes??? how about camp AWAY from the finger dunes, like back in the flats??? again, logic

we didnt rope off the finger right next to you but the other camp did and quiet frankly i liked it cause it slowed people down from haulin a$$ through there. :beercheers::beercheers:

if you recall last year a child was seriously hurt cause some genius in a sand rail thought that the fingers was a usable dune and ran him over .

shame on the rail driver, AND the parents for not keeping an eye on THEIR child

Sorry for coming off like an AZZHOLE, but I go to the dunes to enjoy the company of my friends and family, and to ride, not to be cautious of jackazzes who are parents by name only.

EFFE people!!!,if you take your kids to the dunes, you are responsible for them!!! I didn't know that dumont was a welfare state!!!

a: i agree rebar is bad slow down and read my post.

b: Do you know what you are ranting about?

c: to help you along ill state my point clearly

i think its smart to rubber cone half of the side hills for the kids so they are not hurt by geniuses that think the fingers are a place to haul a$$ around camps.

so you take my post and decide that im out drinking and ignoring my kids. and that 1 broken rule thats CONSTANTLY broken, and almost a killed a kid last year should not infringe on your comfort zone ??? genius pure genius

meandjamesrides.jpg

as you can see in this pic we had nothing up at all we were right next to ddr you would no that except............................. o ya you wernt there! so your flappin about what exactly ???

ddr ( to help you along ) is right on the otherside of that motorhome with the box trailer. and i will add that ddr were great neighbors . so your feelin all defensive about what i dunno . im aloud an opinion so if your attacking my opinion why go off on so many diferent directions ???

Seems to me that this is a common problem after every big weekend. Very easy fix, move the camp away from the fingers and don't use them to access the dunes. I never have an issue with this because I don't camp near the fingers. I am not saying that what happens is right but the truth of the matter is that you cannot change azzhole's behavior. I go to the dunes to relax and have fun, if your not doing this either move your camp or get over it.

Just don't move your camp near mine cause I like peace and quiet! :beercheers::beercheers::beercheers:

Let me say that DDR were great neighbors never rude and im not attacking anyones beliefs i have an opinion and i gave it .However some people think im attacking DDR or complaining i merely have a difference of opinion.

For those who have duned for alot of years things are changing and a$$hats are plentifull and because of this i feel the way i do about cones (NOT REBAR FFS ) but that doesnt mean that i am angry at the next guy for feeling differently

With that said because i have a diffrent opinion doesnt mean im a drunk or neglecting my kids and i need some sort of rubber babysitter. that is rude and uncalled for .

just agree to disagree................. :beercheers:

I said it once before, that this subject really brings the worst out in folks. We'll never have a complete census either way....that's the beauty of our country.

Personally, if I had little ones on those big weekends I would take my camp to the smaller dunes if I really thought they were in danger, but that's just me....an ounce of prevention....... :beercheers: It would be easier to ride the distance to the bigger dunes than to see my kid hit by some bonehead, and then who would I really have to blame? Myself....for having them in that environment when I know what it can be like. I can't control anyone but myself. At least that's what my "voice of reason" is telling me.

Not at all. u shouldnt have to rope off an area. if ure a responsible parent then your kids would know better then to wonder off. We have the roomates kids as well that ride around the camp, but they know that if there is any reason for them to have to change direction for five minnutes then they have the respect to do so. Their kids were riding, and im not being sarcastic, as close as they could to our tents and other quads. actually almost hit our truck cuz of them being so close, and all we asked for was five minnutes to clean out the carb. if any other camp would have asked the kids at our camp to do so, we would have been more then happy to tell them to go the other direction for a few minnutes to they wouldnt kick up dirt. They were doing roosters and just being Boogers on pourpose.

Ok, so just a question here. Unfortunately holiday weekends are the only time I can get out to the dunes. What do you think the chances would be if we had a group of DDR reps talk to BLM and see if we could set up some kind of guidelines for the dunes?? Maybe there already are I don't know. As many times as I've been out there I have never been informed of any. I was just raised to respect others. Anyways, if we can get together with BLM and set up some guidelines, we could pass them out as people are entering and exiting Dumont and leave them with the vendors so people can pick them up there. Maybe that way if more people were aware they were being buttheads and that what they are doing is taking a big chance at getting the dunes closed down maybe they would think twice. Personally I would rather try that than have to change my camp site or go on an off weekend without the rest of my friends. I would be more than happy to donate my time, the paper and the copying of flyers to see if we can change this for the better. I had a good weekend and it sucks to come back and hear everyone b*tch about the buttheads. Instead of b*tching lets do something about it. Ok, I'm done, there is my 2 cents worth. :P

We ARE doing something about it...like ISBB said....FoDD. They already have a "dune etiquette" guide along with some good info that was given to Western Maintenance at the pay station to pass out. I guarantee you though that none of these jerks that are causing the problems are even reading them. It's unfortunate, but we can't change the way some people are. All we can do is join forces and help FoDD anyway we can. Not only that, but everyone needs to spread the word to fellow duners about respect. Who knows, maybe it will catch on with some of these fools. The more everyone becomes involved with helping Dumont by being PRO-ACTIVE, the longer we can keep Dumont our favorite place to go.

Michelle your first step to helping the situation is join FoDD. Sign up here if you already haven't.
