  1. I'm thankful we only have four more years of Osama. Unless of course by executive order he declares himself the supreme dictator. Let us pray...
  2. Just more trash dumped in the desert. Surprised they didn't set it afire before they left. Happens several times a year out here at Sunfair dry lake. Damn, move out to the desert to get away from all of the trash in the city and then they start hauling up/out to the desert to dispose of it. Why not recycle???
  3. All them nasty fuggers from the Inland Empire. There's a reason they call it the Valley of the Dirt People. Take your crack azzes and meth mouths over to the OC and leave our desert paradise alone.
  4. Good deal SKYZ, you sound like a great mom and the perfect new owner for such an animal. My question is how you lose a dog of this size and not notice her missing, and then just leave the dunes without her??? And if dumped how do you live with yourself knowing you abandoned such a beautiful creature? Googled this breed and I would assume that they are not cheap to buy or own. But if you can afford to dune you can afford to feed a dog. Good looking out by the duning community. DDR rocks
  5. Y'all do understand that a "clip" is what you load rounds into a "magazine" with, and a "magazine" is what's inserted into a weapon in order for it's rounds to be fired right? Man I hate when Nugs, Thugs, and Gangsta's can't keep the two straight. Educated white folk ought not have that problem.
  6. Gotta say I'm with Pete on this one. Each and every dune area has it's qualities and drawbacks, as do any open riding areas. Johnson Valley and Ocotillo Wells are where I do most of my desert riding, Glamis for sand, but I have a liking for Dumont too on non holiday weekends. And having been to Coral Pink, Little Sahara, and St. Anthony, I would have to choose Little Sahara if I could have one of those in my back yard. St. Anthony is way beyond awesome but LS has several different types of terrain and a little something for everyone. Sand Mountain Nevada sucks (IMO) unless you are a hillshooter. As long as we can keep any riding area open though I will be riding. Pack out more than you packed in.
  7. First trip of the season just ended a couple of hours ago. Left August 24th for Coral Pink, 27th headed over to Little Sahara, then up to St. Anthony on the 29th. Had an awesome seventh DS Days in a row and can't wait til next year to do it all over again. Although it will only be Little Sahara next year. Had a bunch of use or lose leave so 17 days off for a once in a lifetime trip with my youngest son. We did up Yellowstone while we were up there and wanted to do the Tetons but the smoke from all of the fires out west had the visibility down very low. Maybe a trip report in a few days, tons of pics to shuffle through. See y'all at D here in a few short weeks.
  8. Yes Pete I did get your PM and I appreciate it. I was just looking for input from a handful of other members who might enlighten me to a route or routes that have more to offer than the usual trip between St George and Cedar city. I like the way out that Terry suggested as it has Bryce Canyon to my east for the major portion of that route. Looks like it still has what Utah has an abundance of though, mountains... I'm in no real hurry since I'm leaving on the 24th and don't have to return to work until the 10th. Slow and easy and mucho R&R planned for this vacation. Looks like I'm going to have to deal a LOT of smoke from the many fires out west here. Thanks for the suggestions.
  9. Now that's big pimpin' Amish right there^^^^^!
  10. Have a good one Nick. See you in the sand.
  11. Okay, so how do you go about checking the wires? Nothing but the pump light is working on my panel. The level indicators started acting up a couple of years ago then eventualy went dark. Bought a new panel and still nothing but the pump light. Had it long enough to kind of know the levels but when friends are tenting it and using my facilities I'd kind of like to be able to keep an eye on atleast the fresh tank. I have unhooked all of the sensor wires and cleaned the connnections but problem persists.
  12. Looks like an awesome place to ride and explore. Good trip report, other than the inconveniences. Better luck next time. I need to get ahold of Mike and try and get some route information. I'm heading up to St. Anthony in a couple of weeks and am making a side trip to Coral Pink and Little Sahara. Been to LS many times but never Coral. Coming from 29 Palms so I need to hit Coral from the south and head out from the north back to I-15. It all looks out of the way but towing a 28ft hauler I need straight and flat! Google directions has me going through Zion NP and that is a crazy drive in a sedan, can't imagine a F-350 crew cab and hauler doing some of that windy, twisty stuff, and the tunnels. Effe that. But if it's the only way out then I guess I have no choice. I'll PM him so as not hijack your thread!
  13. We've got DS Days going on up at St. A's the 31st-3rd. Always good to see those DDR stickers on the Idaho Dunes RV Park signs and the surrounding signage. Looks like there may be some vehicles sporting some DDR decals up there this time also. Hear there may be a gathering of YFZ's and Rappy's so I'll see ya'll out in the sand. Watch out for the thundering herd of Sand Pigs!
  14. Had to go to the beach for a week to get the wife some R&R. Looks like good things have happened since I last checked in. Being in the market for a RZR XP900 and being 6'4" I definitely do not want to bear the weight or the loss of vision that comes with having to wear a helmet in one of these. I applaud Col. Cook taking the time to listen to our opinions and maybe even acting on them. Would have been nice for the info in the bill to be up for discussion and out to the public before it was slid through. Glad they are entertaining our thoughts...
  15. All the more reason to vote for Gregg Imus come November. Common sense approach to laws for people with common sense. While I appreciate Paul Cook's service to his country and what he used to stand for, his health issues seem to be taking a toll on his thinking process. Having gone through two bouts of my wife's cancer treatments and recovery I can attest to the fact that you are in no shape to make decisions for yourself much less anybody else. How come noone remembers this being open for public discussion in townhall type settings???
  16. WHAT!?!?! I thought the economy was bad? Why do they always cater to those who have? How about some fun affordable toys for us have-nots? Like knock a couple of G's off of a RZR XP 900...
  17. I say we celebrate it both weekends! More freaks, more candy, how can anybody have a problem with that?
  18. ...ever ran for office? Or have a family member or maybe a friend who has ran for any sort of political office? Reason I'm asking is my wife is looking for a one stop shopping site that can do T-shirts, bumper stickers, window posters, yard signs, and maybe some 4x8 corrugated plastic signs. Magnetic car door signs also, but those are way pricey. She is running for City Council in November and is trying to get the word out right now. We already have a ton of business cards and just need this other stuff done up. Nobody seems to do it all here in SoCal so we're open to suggestions from the border states of NV and AZ, or if you've got a bud that does this sort of thing but doesn't have a website then please put us in touch. Thanks for any input.
  19. Happy Birthday Mr. Pres. May you have many many more.
  20. Exactly, and these (http://walnut.patch.com/articles/memorial-day-events-planned-throughout-the-area) are things we USED to DO, not THINK about. A lot of cities held Memorial Day parades and picnics afterwards where the younger generations could meet and mingle with Vets and hear thier stories, gain an appreciation for an older generation. Many small towns in the Heartland and down South continue to do so. I've just noticed that in the 19 years that I've been out west here that MOST could give a rats a$$ about why the day is celebrated, they just want the extra day off to party and whatnot. So my point was no one mentioned that they were partaking of any of the Memorial Day ceremonies. It seemed to have slipped everyones mind. Just an obsevation, not an attack against you for what you were thinking. Just wondered why of all the members we have on DDR nobody even mentioned the reason we have this day. Anybody going to Riverside National Cemetery tomorrow???
  21. Interesting! Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. And not one person has even mentioned it. Nor probably even given it a thought. What happened to the days of parades to acknowledge? Of going to the cemetaries to place flags at the gravesites of our fallen? Just another day off of work now I suppose. Enjoy it. We cherish too, the Poppy red That grows on fields where valor led, It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies. Semper Fi y'all. Be safe whatever you choose to do.
  22. So did you get another XR650L or the KLR650? I've been looking to stumble upon a screaming deal on an 09 or newer KLR but most of the deals aren't out here (west). Still have my eye out though, a little something to do in between seasons in the sand. All my research through the forums point to the KLR being the bettter bike for me. Any input??? Good luck with your sale.
