how's business for you?

Just curious how business is going in everyone's professions.

I am in the automotive industry and work at Chevy. It seems business has picked up slightly over the last year, well except for the last week or so. A couple weeks ago it was the busiest I have seen it in a long time. But now we've been pretty dead. Although I'm sure it has to do with the time of month (back to school).

The Cash for Clunkers promotion has sure helped our sales department. They've been selling lots of cars lately! :beercheers:

Business is up and down and very unpredictable these days, but it seems we are hopefully slowly but surely moving in the right direction. So I hope. :praying:

Though I'm retired, my wife has been real busy offered all the OT she wants.

Friends with businesses had their kids list their businesses on Craigs list and they got some really good cash flow and action outta it.

Craigs list is the new Recycler.

House painting friends have been surviving on their property management contracts. They say forget any private parties or business calling.

Electrician friends will drive a half day for any work at all.

Plumbers always have work.

Some flooring friends are spoiled from the past boom.

They still haven't woke up that it's going to be slow for a long time to come.

The A/C has never worked right in the GMC so that'll be going into the dealer soon. I have a feeling it'll never be fixed.

We're crazy about the truck, but A/C is essential.

Local GM dealers service biz picked up around here when GM folded some outlying dealers, so an appointment is needed, and that's a sign they're doing OK.

I work in the mining industry and we mine Limestone and dolomatic. We sell alot of hi cal lime to the Gold industry, so as long as gold prices stay up, we are booming.

Dolomatic lime when mixed with water is called hydrate, which is also stucco. Now we have seen a drop in that department, as houses are not going up like they were 2 yrs ago.

Limestone when hydrate is also hydrate and is used alot in paving. Las vegas paving, frehner and a few more pavers keep that process going.

P2 chat is always gonna sale as long as new roads, off ramps and stuff like that are going up.

All in all, my work has stayed the same, except the usual ups and downs.

I work for Playboy Entertainemnt and the business seems to be picking up again. We hired a new CEO and he has some direction on where to take this Digital era and where to send the print era that has been hurting us for so long. We have lost almost 20 employees in the legaal and compliance departments in the last year ansd recently heard we might have some new hires

The pay for talent that perform on the porn vids is down a whole lot and the talent is the bottom of the barrel. Top girls would get 1200 a shoot asnd now is about $600...

Also we are trying to figure out how to get rid of all these free porn sites that pirate are expensive produced material..we will get them..

I work for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, we seem to be pretty busy. But i work security, so if you get on my radar that means you drank to much, beat your wife/girlfriend, stole something or just became an a$$ hole. so for me..buisness is boomin..cause we have no lack of shitheads!

As far as our buisnsess, we are actually at 110% occupancy for most of the week....just today alone we had 732 checkouts.

My crane service has slowed down substantially, but cant complain, still in the black. Residential jobs such as spas, bbq islands, outdoor fireplaces, fiberglass pools etc have really taken a hit, but you cant run a business in our area without a/c :beercheers:

The mild summer did not help the industries who get bussier with the heat for sure.

Coffee business is off about 10% from last year but with a great landlord and a loyal customer base we are keeping our head above water. We will be putting on events to help bring business including a really great concert in October for 75 people. Musican's name is John Badorff and he is a very talented singer/songwriter that we're working on setting up.

Hard Rock ran some great deals we booked this summer.

2 adj rooms, 4 round trip airfares from LA and a rent a car,, all for three nights for under $400 and change.

That's a hell of a deal IMHO. Included some meal deals too.

Why do the cocktail waitresses quit all the time?

Understand that is a lucrative job at the HRH and they never seem to stick around.

The front desk chic told me they eventually try to return, but can't get their jobs back.

C'mon mang, I figured as a President yourself that you could appreciate a good joke! I gotcha though, it can go nowhere fast.

Killing is my business and business is good.

i worked 94 hours last week. this week and the next five weeks look to be much the same. hopefully soon i'll be down to 70-80 hours per week for the rest of the year.

next year is looking to only be 40 hours a week throughout.. after the last 3 years it'll be much welcomed.

What the eff do you do that you have to work (and are still working) that much. Damn bro, I need some of those hours. :beercheers:

Billboard industry is somewhat steady I guess. 1st and last of the month is usually pretty good and the middle slows down where I work about 30 hours a week by working at the yard untill they kick me out. We got busy this week and I will work at least 35 hours.
