I'm a road worker here in Nevada (Clark County) I was going to visit that small road shop in Shoeshone to see what the plan was. Now I don't have to! That's some serious road damage. Not enough road crews to fix quickly. We are still repairing road damage in Las Vegas and I don't think we were hit as hard as California was hit.3 points

HWY127 is now fully open to through traffic with construction occurring in shoulder areas only from Monday through Friday 6AM-4PM. This portion of work is expected to continue through June 2024. NO FLAGGING IS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME BUT MAY OCCUR AS NEEDED TO COMPLETE REPAIR WORK. The route remains fully open to traffic during an outside of work hours. Crews continue shoulder repair work and an approximate 2 mi section of the route. Little Dumont Little Dumont is open. Photos of original storm damage/ Source: Caltrans District 82 points

Killer shots! Thanks for the coverage Tim. And yes, it's always over way too soon. Can't wait until the next one.2 points

Once again it comes to an end and I am sure I am not the only one that wants to go back. This trip never disappoints! Great people, great food, and fun times around the fire and in the dunes. I am ready to go back right now! Always a great time at the round up's. Been to all of them and wouldn't miss it for anything. Finally got through my shots and seems like my telephoto lens was acting up on the group run. Some were spot on and others were a bit fuzzy and the rest were just plain crap! I will redeem myself on Round-up 11.5! Anyways, here is my photo dump. Enjoy the pictures. From Pahrump, I went around 4 road closed barricades. At Shoeshone, the sign says road flooded 8 miles. It wasn't. The only road damage is a washed out section by the little dunes. Pavement damage is @ 9' by 24' which will need a few truck loads of dirt and a pavement patch. There's a thin layer of dirt in a couple places. Our NEW PAVED Dumont road held up a perfect 100%. No damage. The Concrete section where the Amargosa River crossing is held up surprisingly well. The dirt section could use a little clean up and the road past the pay station needs a little dirt work. All is passable right now with slow careful driving.2 points

I am really nobody in all of this, but sidewinder that was kind of a sh*tty thing to say . Yes there closed for public safety. but as long as it isn't during actual construction times when he could be a threat or hindrance or impacting environment i/e protected wildlife/or plants. It is hurting no one. I agree it is " at risk" and yes some folks can get a ticket, but he seems, IMO to be investigating and reporting. It doesn't appear he is tearing up any construction work efforts. or driving through the desert plants. We see it all the time. I frequently have to go through closures for ECO's for power ( and yes, we are authorized to do so). And if they are out there and busy usually Cal Trans is nearby and they will let you know what's up. it looks like a right time to take a peak and let us know what's up. Just sayin .........................2 points

So Sperry to Dumont from Western Talc is in decent shape. Some route finding, washouts, and a little water. Rangers were at the dunes, checking for helmets, reg, etc. Nice ride. If you did Sperry before, it's def worth a trip.2 points

Hi, this is Paul from Mojave Mining Company & Tecopa Hot Springs Campground & Pools. Not sure if dunes are open. Haven't talked to BLM. We do have access as a mining company and it is bad, bad at Little Dumont. If Dumont is going to be open only through Sperry Wash access, we have camping at https://tecopahotspringscampground.com and a 2 acre lot with 24 hr surveillance just off of Furnace Creek Road north of Old Spanish trail for parking of OHV trailers an launch point for OHV. We are putting this together as a contingency plan. Would like to work with you guys to put a plan together that works for Tecopa and the Dunes. This is devastating to our business as well. Contact me at ptbarnes@mojaveminingcompany.com Thanks!2 points

Here are some new pics flying South to North this time. It was disappointing that I didn't see a single worker, tractor, any sign of clean up or repairs being made between Baker and Dumont. Hwy 127 is not going to open up any time soon. It's been almost 2 weeks since the rain hit and no work has started.2 points

Because social media. ie: Instagram and FB. I was still posting here for years even after it slowed way down when users used the social media apps, but it was like I was talking to myself so I stopped. Lol I still prefer the forum for discussion but the apps make it much easier to share videos and certain content. This site costs me a lot of money every month but I'll keep it going for as long as I can.1 point

Once again, this weekend never disappoints. Whether it is the amount of cars that make it out or the people that belong to them. I have made it my thing to make sure I have my camera with me and get as much coverage as possible as you guys traverse the dunes. It was a chill weekend for me in my car as my wife is still trying to figure out how to beat motion sickness, but I didn't care we had fun just cruising the flats and getting the shots of the cars as you guys went by. Here are the links to the photos, as always you can right click and save. DO NOT BUY THEM!!! My gift to you all is hopefully a nice shot of your car in action. If you post any of my shots, be sure to tag DDR and the Round-up please. You can tag me if you like @619actionphotodotcom on IG. Made it out Friday afternoon weather was great all weekend got a nice sunset ride in. Saturday woke up late for veterans parade but got out to veterans hill for flag raising great turnout for amount of people at Dumont. Got in some more good runs. Sunday relaxed most of the morning went on a long ride that went into the evening. Monday packed it up and headed home another good trip until next time.1 point

I think this last Halloween will be the last for us as well. My group got in on Wednesday and had more than enough space for all of us along the ridge. By the time I got out there Thursday night, there was a car width between where I was supposed to park, and the camp next to us. My trailer got peppered by a RZR Friday morning. There isn't any respect for anything or anyone. I was a big fan of SXS and still am, but at the same time I despise them. Anyone with a 600+ credit score can go buy one with a 10 year loan for $300 a month, throw on the biggest speakers they can find, and go trash our dunes with no regard for anyone around them. I sold my $75k Can Am and bought a $15k sandrail and am super happy with it.1 point

FYI, for those in Pahrump or driving through and hoping to get passes. Parker's Kawasaki is no longer selling any passes.1 point

We arrived Thursday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon. You can definitely tell the difference between the "old school" dune-crew and the new breed of "spoiled, entitled brats" when you are out in the dunes. I won't even go into the whole trash left behind in the camps or the stops in the dunes. We spent almost as much time driving as we did picking up trash in the dunes. Some people really need to learn the whole "Pack-It-In-Pack-More-Out" rule. Our group for the most part will only be making day trips for the big weekends to support the vendors and other events. The comfortable friendly feeling seems to be there on the off weekends.1 point

Halloween used to be my favorite weekend. I choose to skip it now. It's no longer my crowd out there. It's changed alot. I suggest going on an off weekend. That's what I do.1 point

There's a decent amount of camping space/ area. It's accessed from highway 127. The dunes are little of course, but a fun little area. Mostly "finger dunes". There's the salt creek mines too. I put a bunch of info on those on the landmarks page. A section of little Dumont got washed away last year but it didn't affect much of the sand. They just plowed the entrance but it's pretty soft still unless they did something about it since Oct 15th.1 point

Tried to buy this car months ago when you had it listed on FB marketplace. Didn't seem too interested in selling then, had cash in hand. GLWTS.1 point

I have one of these gears that I purchased at $129 for my Lippert Happijac bed lift (2013 Attitude 34’) that ended up not being needed once disassembled. My issue ended up being the horizontal chains across the top that attach to the gears for the vertical lift rails. The horizontal chains were SO loose from the factory, which do not have any adjustment on them, allowing them to skip on the gear causing the bed to get out of wack on each corner. I made a set of chain tensioners and adjusted the vertical chains to ensure the issue was resolved. When I find some time I will do a thread on my issue vs the gear failure issue. Once apart I realized my gear from the factory was already an aluminum gear. (See pic of far right gear in GB) With that said, I no longer need the gear I purchased and will sell it for $75 to the first buyer. My recommendation, if you are having an issue is to pull the motor and gearbox first as to ensure it fits your model as there seemed to be a slight differences in this gear and mine without removing mine from the shaft. (Same size and # of teeth but mine looks to not have the keyway running completely through the gear. May still have worked but did not want to disassemble my good gearbox any further than needed. Lots more pics available that I will try and put together in another thread and come back here to update with a shortcut. Tozlakes1 point

Same bro! It's so strange to meet someone in person who ya already feel ya know so well via YT & social media. You were taller in person 😆 Great fireside chats!! 2am crew woo woo! I still can't believe I didn't ask for a ride in one of the many many amazing cars in the camp. DOH!!! Next time. Hope to chill and ride with y'all in March. Thanks again Pete for putting on this great events/updates/community.1 point

I want to thank everyone once again for coming out to support the buggy roundup! We had a great turnout of about 56 cars. Camp was huge as usual but the giant fire, thanks to Leonard the firewood man, helped bring everyone together and that is going to be a regular thing from now on. The dune rides were a blast and every ride we had a huge group. It's aways so cool to see all those buggies ripping through the dunes. There was a little carnage here and there, but not too bad overall. Huge thanks to our friends Jeremy & Kristi at Roadrunner Powersports for cooking up tacos for the entire camp and to JR and his wife for the rice and beans! Everyone loved the tacos and it was a great way to bring the crew together to raffle off some fun stuff. I really appreciate everyone who donated some cool stuff to give away. It's everyone's efforts that help make this trip was it is every year. I had a blast and met some awesome people this trip. Buggy Roundup has become a really fun crew of amazing people. We plan on doing it again in March so stay tuned for that date. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.1 point

Man, what an awesome time out in Dumont last week! Highlights were the great weather, rad people, fun sand, low crowds (until Friday PM 😆) late night bonfire chats and of course finally freaking meeting the MAN hisself!! So stoked to finally shake this dudes hand, I've been following/subscribing to his shenanigans for days but way further right here on DDR. Anyway, thank you Pete (and Ana) for putting on this event, it was my first time checking it out. We had a camp over by #7, and cruised over a few nights to hang. Good times all around! We are just on bikes and one SXS so didn't go on the group rides, but dammit that sh*t is sooo fun to witness in the big bowls, 40+ cars snaking thru the dunes and screaming those engines loud. We just park out bikes on a watch point and chill to watch the show. Thanks buggy drivers, y'all are a blast to watch 👍 I'll post my own report and stop hijacking this thread haha 😂 Daniel1 point

Had a great time hanging out with everyone, was fun to see all the buggies and fellow duners, Broke a hub, self-inflicted, two lug nuts where loose, everyone pitch in to get the car out of there, amazing, big thanks to Josh for the trailer, was a big help, rolled the car over at walking speed, went to cross over and was steep, the rear tire slid in a hole and caught the hole, then went over, Mark and Jared made it, unfortunately Josh got the same hole and flipped over in front of me. that will be a good story later. thanks again Pete, always a great time.1 point

It's almost time for Buggy Roundup 11! And even better news, highway 127 is set to open Dec 4th with one-way pilot car operations, so for California peeps this means you don't have to take the long way around! There will be more duning than ever before. Plus on Saturday we are planning on the same good times we always have with cars & coffee, some raffle prizes, TACOS for lunch and more duning. So if you have a buggy or just want to be part of the fun, come out and join us. Please RSVP in the link below so we know to expect you. Also post up in the comments here that you are going and we'll add you to the Buggy Roundup chat group as well for more updates. RSVP here:1 point

I am a land owner out in the closed section of Hwy 127 and have interfaced with Cal Trans and CHP quite a bit for access to my property. Something important to share here is that Cal Trans is definitely working on the road and a whole lot more than just by the Little Dunes. From 10 miles north of Baker they are now starting to grind the road surface and will be adding a 2 ft paved shoulder in addition to resurfacing the damaged road from there to Dumont. CHP is enforcing the closure 24/7 lately and there is a lot of construction equipment, people and haul trucks moving up and down that road for the repair so keep clear. The GOOD news I heard directly from Cal Trans is that they have a "mandate" to get the road open by Feb 15, 2024. Now that may involve one way traffic in a section here or there but it is at least some good news that access up and down that section of hwy is only several months away.1 point

Ok so here is the plan for Buggy Roundup. It is still on for Dec 8-10, 2023! However...if you cannot make it in Dec because of the highway closure or whatever the case, don't worry. We are planning on having a SECOND Buggy Roundup at the end of this season. It will likely be in March if the road is fixed by then. We can do nothing but wait and see. But for now, the original Buggy Roundup is still on. We are planning on the same good times we always have with cars & coffee, a small raffle, and even more DUNE TIME this year. So come out and join us.1 point

Last week heavy rains near Dumont Dunes caused flash flooding on highway 127 causing the road to be filled with dirt, rock and debris. The road was impassable and was closed in both directions. Crews worked quickly to get it reopened on Aug 30th but mother nature had different plans. More heavy rain on Sept 1st came and flooded the road again. This time some some motorists were trapped for hours. John Edington reported his friend got caught in it that night just north of Baker and didn't make it to dry ground until 3:00. Crews will be working on getting it reopened asap. We'll update you as soon as it gets reopened, but check with Caltrans for the absolute latest. Closures are also usually updated pretty quickly on Google Maps Traffic layer. (featured photo: Michael Battaglia, photo below: John Edington) photo 9/2/23: Debbie Baker 9/5/23 UPDATE The brand new Dumont entrance road is fine and so is the river crossing. It's just a ~9'x24' section of highway 127 near the little dunes that is badly damaged. The 127 remains closed from Shoshone to Baker until the highway is repaired.1 point

Just because Google Maps says this, it's very unlikely that is the case. I have heard from a reliable source that Caltrans plans to have it repaired in 30 days. It's still a little more than a month and a half away so we shall wait and see. That's all we can do.1 point -
I’m planning to fly it again next week. I’ll get better shots of Little D camping area.1 point

So on weeks his is the same front end, the Front is a dunebuggy.com sold by Tabzone, weeks we where doing the same front to his stevenson offroad chassis and then talked Dave at DD to use it on one of his cars, My front end is different mine has more flat plate, where the tabzone has more tube to hold it together both great front ends, It will be a more beef cake when it is done,1 point
